[XCP] Console with PV kernels?
All:
I''m currently using the older Python-based Xen tools on a cluster of
machines, but we''re looking to transition to XCP as the platform of choice
for our applications. However, I''ve run into one issue that''s sort of a
blocker: paravirtual Linux domUs boot and run, but the console device is
strangely broken. Most of the output reaches the connected user (some

XCP GUI help needed
Hi,
I am a newb to XCP and somewhat to Linux. I set up XCP on a test machine and
used xe to configure a couple of VMs. The VMs are working fine but if I
deploy XCP with only xe to manage machines, the others here will want my
head on a plate. I set up a Fedora client on a different machine and
installed Virtual Machine Manager. When trying to connect via SSH, I get an
error that says

Wanted: XCP 1.1 tutorial for creating VMs from scratch using xe CLI
Hello,
It is nearly not possible to use XCP without a tutorial, in particular
if ones has to use the xe CLI.
Reading of reference.pdf and guests.pdf of XenServer and different wiki
pages didn''t help enough.
Even *XCP seems to be a very good software* it will be useless without
good documentation because of it''s complexity.
Thank you in advance for any hints.

GUI suggestions for XCP (archipel?)
I''ve just installed XCP and am looking about for a good GUI to control it.
I''m not a windows person at all so would prefer a non-windows solution
(ESXi really bugs me in that regard)
Web based would be great, then it wouldn''t matter what system controlled
it. (I usually use a Mac but also run Linux desktops)
Has archipel been tried? Opinions on ease of install/use?

Odd behavior on Phenom II X6
I built a new box for home use, it is an ASUS M5A99X EVO 990X, the CPU
is the 1075T 3.0Ghz AM3. I have 16 gigs of 1333 RAM, it is Patriot
brand non - ECC. The disk is a 1TB Western Digital SATA II 3.0 mbps.
I am using a USB DVD drive to do the install
When I attempt to install either a generic CentOS install, it gives a
Kernel panic and dies, the error says something about CPU0 and it

I am new to virtualization and I am having the obvious hassle of choosing between Xen and KVM.
Can Xen experts help me with this?

vnc servers do not run
Hi all,
I have Xen 3.0.3 installed on Debian Etch 4.0. The problem I have with it is
that vncservers are not run for guest domains (also Etch), nomatter I
specify vfb = [ ''type=vnc'' ], or not. Does Xen 3.0.3 support vnc frame
buffers, or do I have to upgrade Xen? I know that Xen 3.1 creates vncservers
with no problems.
Thanks

Installing XCP from USB thumb drive
Has anyone experimented with installing XCP from a USB thumb drive? Is it possible? How was the installation media installed to the USB thumb drive (e.g., dd)?

Re: [Xen-devel] xen 4.1.2* dhcp issue/bug when installing/booting HVM domU domains (CentOS 6, unbuntu 11.04 server). Debian/OpenSolaris work fine.
Thanks a lot for your hints Pasi.
Due to your suggestion I open a new thread here.
I have tested with model=e1000 (HVMs). As HVM configs are identical (not
iso images and LVM volumes) I guess it is a xen 4.1.2* issue .. or just
involved domU OS-kernels (however as it is HVM it should not play any role)
Tested and correctly working OSes (getting an IP address and pinging of

VNC into active session
Hi all,
Can I VNC into an active session? I mean user can see what we do in their
screen.
Right now the /etc/sysconfig/vncservers is:
VNCSERVERS="2:userku"
VNCSERVERARGS[2]="-geometry 800x600"
I have vncpasswd for userku and restart vncserver. Then, can I vnc from
another pc into the active session on the userku PC?
Thank you very much.

VNC server not reponding to external requests
Hello everyone:
I tried following the instructions on this page to set up a VNC
server:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/VNC-Server
I can telnet to port 5901 from the machine itself:

Connected to 127.0.0.1.

But, when I try to connect to it from the outside world, I get a connection
timeout.
