Plotting Ellipses and Points of Matching Colors in an Ordination
Hello, R-Help -
I am trying to plot the results of an ordination from package vegan. The
tricky part for me right now is getting the colors of the ellipses denoting
the 95% confidence intervals of the group centroids to match the colors of
the points for those same groups.
>From and earlier post, I saw the code to make a plot of the ordination using
different colors for my different groups.

Aggregate and select mode
Greetings Everyone -
I have a data frame "x" that looks like this:
v1 v2
1 A
1 B
1 B
2 B
2 W
2 W
3 D
3 D
3 Z
What I would like to do is create a new data frame, "y", that has one row
for each unique value of v1, and returns the corresponding mode of v2. If I
were to run it on the above data frame, it should therefore return:

Boxplot Fill Pattern
Hello R Help!
I would like to make a legible boxplot of tree growth rates for each of
seven tree species at each of seven different sites. It's a lot of data to
put on one figure, I know. I made a beautiful, interpretable figure using
color, but my target journal can't deal with color figures. I can use seven
shades of grey to fill the boxes, but the figure then becomes
uninterpretable -

Within a given time period (say 700 days, from the start day), I am
expecting measurements taken at each time interval;. In this case "0" means
measurement taken, "1" not taken (stopped or opted out and " -1" don't
consider that time period for that individual. This will be compared with

GAM, GAMM and numerical integration, help please
I am trying to apply methods used by Chaloupka & Limpus (1997) (
http://www.int-res.com/articles/meps/146/m146p001.pdf) to my own turtle
growth data.
I am having trouble with two things...
1) After the GAM is fit, the residuals are skewed.

read.table() as follow for example (real dataset has 500 cases), the

subtotals based on price bands?
I would like to create a subtotal table with custom bands.
seq1 = seq(0, 100, by = 5)
seq2 = seq(100, 1000, by = 100)
Bands = c(seq1, seq2)

#corresponding size for the given price above.

How would I find the subtotal of the size based on a given price falls
within a band?

Simple Binning of Values
Hello
I am very new to R. I have an R task to complete that I have not been able to find a straightforward answer to as of yet. I have a list of values. I would like to count the number of values that are in one bin, the number that fall in the next bin, etc.
For example
My input file is: 123 48 342 442 43 232 32 129 191 147
I would like the output to be similar to:
0-100 3
100-200 4

Patch for app_asr.c: DTMF instead of goto

if someone of you is interested on it, i've changed the code of app_asr.c
With these patch you can use the ASR application to play DTMF tones,
so you can have your own AGI application that uses the ASR and manages
the DTMF tones without change the dialplan.

Drag & Scroll
When using drag and drop, the browser window will not scroll if you move the mouse off the page. This makes it very difficult, if not impossible to create certain types of web applications.
I know this has been mentioned before and is on the Wish List, but it''s very frustrating.

Comparing proportions between groups
Hello there,
I have two groups (men and women) and I know per group how many of them
smoke or don't smoke (women 40 of 200; men 100 of 300). I would like to know
how I can compare in R if men and women differ significantly in their
smoking. However, because there are more men in the sample than women I
cannot just compare the number of smokers and non-smokers in both groups,

automatically jpeg output
Dear R users,
I used R to draw many histograms and I would like to automatically save
them into a jpeg file. I tried the following code since I know .ps file
could be saved like this way:
postscript("AYA_ELA.jpeg",horizontal=F,onefile=T)
......#some funtions inside here
dev.off()
There was a jpeg file, however, there is no pictures inside. Any
suggestion?

I am fairly new to mixed effects models and lmer, so bear with me.

grouping by consecutive integers
Hello R-helpers!
I have a question concerning extracting sequence information from a
vector. I have a vector (representing the bins of a time series where
the frequency of occurrences is greater than some threshold) where I
would like to extract the min, median and max of each group of
consecutive numbers.

Problem reading in external data and assigning data.frames within R
Hey there,
I apologize if this is an irritatingly simple question ... I'm a
new user. I can't understand why R flips the sign of all data values
when reading in external text files (tab delimited or csv) with the
read.delim or read.csv functions. The signs of data values also seem
to be flipped after assigning a new data.frame from within R (xnew <--
edit(data.frame()). What am

Automation of scripts ... reading a file.
Hi,
I want to automate a set of scripts that spit out data that are later used
by R to plot graphs. However, I need to get into R's environment now and
then use my R script using the source command. Is there a way to run the
R script from the unix prompt ?.
