Is the output of survfit.coxph survival or baseline survival?
Dear all,
I am confused with the output of survfit.coxph.
Someone said that the survival given by summary(survfit.coxph) is the
baseline survival S_0, but some said that is the survival S=S_0^exp{beta*x}.
Which one is correct?
By the way, if I use "newdata=" in the survfit, does that mean the survival
is estimated by the value of covariates in the new data frame?
Thank you very much!

How to get the hazard of coxph (not cumulative hazard)
Dear all,
I think the coxph and survfit.coxph can give the cumulative hazard of cox
model.
But is there any method to calculate the hazard
Lambda(t)=lambda_0(t)*exp{beta*X(t)}?
Any suggestion will be great help.
Thank you very much!

smooth non cumulative baseline hazard in Cox model
Hi everyone.
There's been several threads on baseline hazard in Cox model but I think
they were all on cumulative baseline hazard,

How to compute hazard function using coxph.object
My question is, how to compute hazard function(H(t)) after building the
coxph model. I even aware of the terminology that differs from hazard
function(H(t)) and the hazard rate(h(t)). Here onward I wish to calculate
both.
Here what I have done in two different methods;

obtaining the values for the hazard function in a cox regression
Hello ,
I am hoping for some advice regarding obtaining the values for the
hazard function in a cox regression that I have undertaken. I have a
model in the following form, analysed with the package survival (v.
2.34-1) and a log-log plot obtained using Design (v. 2.1-2).
For two variables, the lines in the survival curves crossed. The
statistician I been obtaining advice from (who does not

Plotting Cumulative Hazard Functions with Strata
Hello:
So i've fit a hazard function to a set of data using
kmfit<-survfit(Surv(int, event)~factor(cohort))
this factor variable, "cohort" has four levels so naturally the strata
variable has 4 values.
I can use this data to estimate the hazard rate
haz<-n.event/n.risk
and calculate the cumulative hazard function by
H<--log(haz)
Now, I would like to plot this

[newbie] Cox Baseline Hazard
Hello everybody.
First of all, I would like to present myself.
I'm a french student in public health and I like statistics though I'm
not that good in mathematics (but I try to catch up). I've discovered R
recently while trying to find a statistical program in order to avoid
rebooting my computer under windows when I need to do some statistical
work.
And here is my first question.

Reporting Kaplan-Meier / Cox-Proportional Hazard Standard Error, km.coxph.plot, survfit.object
What is the best way to report the standard error when publishing
Kaplan-Meier plots? In my field (Vascular Surgery), practitioners
loosely refer to the "10% error" cutoff as the point at which to stop
drawing the KM curve. I am interpreting this as the *standard error
of the cumulative hazard*, although I'm having a difficult time
finding some guidelines about this (perhaps I am

Nelson-Aalen estimator of cumulative hazard
Hi,
I am computing the Nelson-Aalen (NA) estimate of baseline cumulative hazard in two different ways using the "survival" package. I am expecting that they should be identical. However, they are not. Their difference is a monotonically increasing with time. This difference is probably not large to make any impact in the application, but is annoyingly non-trivial for me to just

survival::survfit,plot.survfit
I am confused when trying the function survfit.
my question is: what does the survival curve given by plot.survfit mean?
is it the survival curve with different covariates at different points?
or just the baseline survival curve?
for example, I run the following code and get the survival curve

breslow estimator for cumulative hazard function
Dear R-users,
I am checking the proportional hazard assumption of a cox model for a
given covariate, let say Z1, after adjusting for other relavent covariates
in the model. To this end, I fitted cox model stratified on the discrete
values of Z1 and try to get beslow estimator for the baseline cumulative
hazard function (H(t)) in each stratum. As far as i know, if the
proportionality assumption

Is there an equivalent to predict(..., type="linear") of a Proportional hazard model for a Cox model instead?
Hi all,
Is there an equivalent to predict(...,type="linear") of a Proportional hazard
model for a Cox model instead?
For example, the Figure 13.12 in MASS (p384) is produced by:
(aids.ps <- survreg(Surv(survtime + 0.9, status) ~ state + T.categ +
pspline(age, df=6), data = Aidsp))
zz <- predict(aids.ps, data.frame(state = factor(rep("NSW", 83), levels =

Plotting survival curves from a Cox model with time dependent covariates
Dear all,
Let's assume I have a clinical trial with two treatments and a time to
event outcome. I am trying to fit a Cox model with a time dependent
treatment effect and then plot the predicted survival curve for one
treatment (or both).

test <-

Cox proportional hazards confidence intervals
I am calculating cox propotional hazards models with the coxph
function from the survival package. My data relates to failure of
various types of endovascular interventions. I can successfully
obtain the LR, Wald, and Score test p-values from the coxph.object, as
well as the hazard ratio as follows:
formula.obj = Surv(days, status) ~ type
coxph.model = coxph(formula.obj, df)

Relative Risk/Hazard Ratio plots for continuous variables
Dear all,
I am using Windows and R 2.9.2 for my analyses. I have a large dataset and
I am particularly interested in looking at time to an event for a continuous
variable. I would like to produce a plot of log(relative risk) or relative
risk (also known as hazard ratio) against the continuous variable.
I have spent a long time looking for advice on how to do this but my search

is there a function available which provides an estimate of the hazard

Fitting and plotting a coxph with survfit, package(surv)
Hi Dear R-users
I have a database with 18000 observations and 20 variables. I am running
cox regression on five variables and trying to use survfit to plot the
survival based on a specific variable without success.
Lets say I have the following coxph:

AFT-model with time-varying covariates and left-truncation
Dear Prof. Brostr?m,
Dear R-mailinglist,
first of all thanks a lot for your great effort to incorporate
time-varying covariates into aftreg. It works like a charm so far
and I'll update you with detailled benchmarks as soon as I have them.
I have one more questions regarding Accelerated Failure Time models
(with aftreg):
You mention that left truncation in combination with time-varying

Cox proportional hazards model
Good afternoon,
I am currently trying to do some work on survival analysis.
- I hope to seek your advice re: 2 questions (1 general and 1 specific)
(1) I'm trying to do a stratified Cox analysis and subsequently
plot(survfit(object)). It seems to work for some strata, but not for
others.
I have tumor grade, which is a range of 1 - 4.
When I divide this range of 1:4 into 2 groups, it
