CPU usage while running R code
I am currently running an R program on a computer with 16 Gb memory (Windows7, 64 bit). When I look at the task manager, I see that only 4 out of the 8 CPUs are being used. Is this due to some missing in the R code, or should I change something to the settings of the computer? Error in memory.size(size) when calling R in batch mode (but not in interactive mode)
Dear all I use a 64 bit Windows7 system with 16 GB memory. I have run an R script in batch mode with the following command: R CMD BATCH masterassignment_2012_11_09.r --save The execution was terminated with the following error message: Error in memory.size(size) : don't be silly!: your machine has a 4Gb address limit I never get this error message in an interactive session

creation of package failed
Dear all I am trying to build a package, and get the error message: ""packaging into .tar.gz failed"". I have also installed the same package directly from a locally created zip file. In this case, the package is put correctly under C:\R\R-2.15.0\library. However, when I check the package, I get another error message, stating "ERROR: compilation failed for package".

R/C++ interfaces: crashes when using .c(), followed by correct results when R restarted
Dear all I have written a function in C++ , equil_distC, that I am calling from an R script. In the last few days, R has repeatedly crashed when calling this function, or delivered obviously wrong outputs. However, when I restarted R after the crash, the results turned out to be OK most of the time although I had not modified the C++ code. Although the code runs correctly now, I am not sure

use of ddply() within function
Dear all, I am encountering problems with the application of ddply within the body of a self-defined function. The script is the following: moncostcarmoto <- function(costtype){ costaux_result <- data.frame() for (purp in PURPcount){for (per in PERcount){ costcarin =

mtree vs tripwire
Hi all. This might seem really naive, but can mtree be used effectively as a native-to-core-OS tripwire equivalent? Would it be as efficient in terms of time-to-run and resource requirements? What sort of pitfalls should I be aware of? Has anyone here done this? If so, would you care to share your scripts/techniques? Thanks, Dave -- ______________________

LoadLibrary failure: : %1 is not a valid Win32 application although arch x64 has been specified

Names of variables needed in newdata for predict.glm
all.vars works fine, EXCEPT, it give a bit too much. I only want the regression variables, but in the following example I also get "k" the variable holding the chosen knots. Any machinery to find only "real" regression variables? cheers, Bendix library( splines ) y <- rnorm(100) x <- rnorm(100) k <- -1:1 ml <- lm( y ~ bs(x,knots=k) ) mg <- glm( y ~

[PATCH] ocfs2: Access the xattr bucket only before modifying it.
Hi Mark, This is the fix for 2.6.29(introduced by uniting the bucket journal access). Since I found no fixes-for-2.6.29 in your ocfs2.git, it is based on your original upstream-linus. In ocfs2_xattr_value_truncate, we may call b-tree codes which will extend the journal transaction. It has a potential problem that it may let the already-accessed-but-not-dirtied buffers gone. So we'd better

Names of variables needed in newdata for predict.glm
I would like to extract the names, modes [numeric/factor] and levels of variables needed in a data frame supplied as newdata= argument to predict.glm() Here is a small example illustrating my troubles; what I want from (both of) the glm objects is the vector c("x","f","Y") and an indication that f is a factor: library( splines ) dd <- data.frame( D =

Names of variables needed in newdata for predict.glm
Hi, Some try: > names(mi$xlevels) [1] "f" > all.vars(mi$formula) [1] "D" "x" "f" "Y" > names(mx$xlevels) [1] "f" > all.vars(mx$formula) [1] "D" "x" "f" When offset is indicated out of the formula, it does not work... Marc Le 07/03/2018 ? 06:20, Bendix Carstensen a ?crit?: > I would like

Rmath library problems
Hello, Has anybody successfully called the Rmath library from C using the MS Visual Studio compiler (I am using Visual Studio 6.0)? I have compiled the Rmath library using gcc, and the 'test.c' program (which makes a call to qnorm) works fine when compiled with gcc. However, I get a fatal memory error when I run it after compiling it with Visual C. Would this memory problem be related

[R-sig-Geo] plot() and Jpeg() increase font size and resolution
Thanks to Edzer and Roger, I can now plot with increased font sizes. However, jpeg still does not reproduce these, nor does it show up in high quality. What I would like to do is produce some highresolution jpegs. Any help would be appreciated Thanx Herry R2.4 on Mandriva 10.2 linux. blotched y-axis text in plot function
Hi List, I have recently upgraded to opensuse10.2 and R 2.5 (compiled from source). Now, whenever I use plot the y-axis and labels are black blotches while x-axis and labels are fine. Using demo(graphics) this occurs with plot/boxplot/hist/pairs/coplot but not in the pie graphs and in the "The level of Interest in R" plot, which uses axis to define the y-axis. I presume this has to

plot() and Jpeg() increase font size and resolution
Dear list, I am having troubles increasing the fontize when plotting a variogram{gstat} and its model (vgm) with plot and using jpeg(). Also the resolution in the jpeg call does not work. I am using R2.4 on Mandriva 10.2 linux. I can change fontsize with cex.axis in a normal plot, so I presume it has to do with plotting the variogram model. Any help on how to increase the font size and

Entire Organization Switching from SAS to R - Any experience?
My institute has been heavily dependent on SAS for the past while, and SAS is starting to charge us a very deep amount for license renewal. Since we are a non-profit organization that is definitely not sustainable. The team is brainstorming possibility of switching to R, at least gradually. I am talking about the entire institute with considerable number of analysts using SAS their entire

[LLVMdev] Future of the LLVM OpenMP runtime
Now that we've kick-started the LLVM OpenMP runtime discussion, I want to make a concrete proposal to get a test suite up and running for the LLVM OpenMP runtime. I don't think the current setup as an LLVM subproject is sustainable going forward without some form of testing support, automated or otherwise. The motivation: It's difficult to make changes to the source without some

Best way to integrate Unix with AD.
Hi all, I know this is a little off topic (although it might not be because I'm sure there's a solution involving Samba!)... but I hope one of you fine people can advise me on the best approach to achieving an integrated directory supporting Unix/Linux as a first class citizen, storing autofs maps, as well as uid, gid and home folders for each user... and how would that be managed. I see
