Matchspy and faceting
Have been working recently on a site that classifies posts using tags in
taxonomies, so a post about the Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico might be
tagged 'Subscribers only' (access level), 'Barack Obama' (person), 'Tony
Hayward' (person), 'BP' (company), 'Transocean' (company), 'Gulf of
Mexico' (location).

[patch] kinit cmdline handling change
Following mail advice from maximilian attems (thanks).
The following patch changes 2 parts of kinit's command line parameter handling.
1) Parse command line parameters passed to kinit *before*
/proc/cmdline, in order to allow overrides
2) Pass this resultant command line to the init program, rather than
forcing the kinit caller to pass all /proc/cmdline parameters to the
kinit call.

best practices - combining sql database and xapian, size of database?
Newbie-alert: I'm just getting started on a new project involving a
full text search requirement, and my initial investigation points to
xapian being the way to go.
Two questions:
- eventually I'll most likely be indexing towards 50 million
documents - is this reasonable to expect or attempt with xapian?
- each of my documents come with a set of attributes. These are easily
stored

PHP / XapianQueryParser
Hi everyone,
I tried sending a message as a reply a while back on my previous topic, but it didn't go through. (Tried Gmane), not even when I 'authorized' the reply. So I'll just paste it here for reference, below this message. It might help some people. But now I have one other small problem, and I'm not sure if it is actually my mistake (although I'm pretty sure it is

REPLY: make check xapian-bindings-1.2.21 & Search-Xapian-1.2.21.0
Dear Olly Betts,
I think the tests for the perl module Search-Xapian-1.2.21.0 might be fewer in number than the perl tests included with xapian-bindings-1.2.21. If some of the tests have similar but modified content I do not know. I am not so skilled as to interpret the compared test results.
If you want to suggest a paired earlier version of Xapian to a specific xapian.bindings version,
I might

Jacobi 5 Point Stencil Code not Vectorizing
Your problem is due to GVN partial reduction elimination (PRE) which
introduces a PHI node the current loop vectorizer cannot handle:
opt -O3 stencil.ll -pass-remarks=loop-vectorize
-pass-remarks-missed=loop-vectorize
-pass-remarks-analysis=loop-vectorize
remark: <unknown>:0:0: loop not vectorized: value that could not be
identified as reduction is used outside the loop

I have googled it some, and found a couple of references, but nothing

sieve, vacation - lda-dupes being ignored?
Environment: dovecot 2.0.9, postfix 2.6, Pigeonhole 0.2.2
I'm in the process of setting up vacation auto-reply for the first time,
(it's that time of the year) and it looks like .dovecot.lda-dupes is
being updated, but not read (or just ignored).
my vacation script:
require ["vacation","variables"];

I have just started to get dovecot list messages which I had not been

sieve_after seems to ignored ?
sieve and managesieve are both working fine, have been for years. Now I
want to add a sieve_after script:
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/90-sieve.conf :
plugin {
sieve = ~/.dovecot.sieve
sieve_dir = ~/sieve
sieve_before =
sieve_after = ~/sieve/personal.sieve
sieve_subaddress_sep = +
}
I have compiled ~/sieve/personal.sieve to ~/sieve/personal.svbin, but it
doesn't seem to be read. Any

Recursive solution with for()
Hello,
i just ran into the following problem: I wanted to recursively solve
equations of the type x_1[t]=x_1[t+1]+beta*x_2[t], and used a for-loop
written
for(j in c(1:t-1, recursive=TRUE){
...
}
This didn't work, so i resolved to writing
for(j in c(10,9,...,1){
which worked, but is not terribly efficient. So, what did I do wrong?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
when I try installing new packages (in this case DBI) I run into the
following problem:

Has anybody any idea where these strange symbols come from?
Thanks in
