CYGWIN Rsync exclude/include problem
I'm having troubles with getting rsync 2.5.5 (CYGWIN version) to include/exclude files they way I expect it to. I have mulled over the list postings and man pages regarding this and I am either missing something or ... well I don' know. I have a drive with 12 folders in the root however, I only want to rsync 5 of them (the ones marked with an *) and in those 4 I want to exclude certain

Mapping a drive letter to a Samba share
Hey guys, I'm in kind of a crunch right now. Due to a poorly written script that I don't have control over, I need to be able to map a drive letter to a Samba share so that it works seamlessly with UNC (i.e \\server\Share <file:///\\server\Share> ). Basically, I need a way for a share name with a $ in it to be recognized as a valid network name. My current setup is like so:

tcltk question
Is there any requirement for TclTk support for R? When I tried to call the tcltk library, it failed with the following message: > library(tcltk) Error in firstlib(which.lib.loc, package) : Tcl/Tk support is not available on this system Error in library(tcltk) : .First.lib failed for 'tcltk' The system information is as follows: Linux osirus.tgen.org 2.6.9-42.0.10.ELsmp #1

Read-Only Model Attributes AFTER creation?
Howdy, I''m writing an ''edit profile'' screen. I was writing some tests first (yay!), and I realized that, if you were smart, you could use the edit form to change your username. I know I could use attr_protected on username, but that would still allow for usernames to be changed (abeit not through the form). How can I make the username read only AFTER the object has

Platform variations with --exclude-from
On Linux, an rsync command and exclude_file contents of: # cat exclude_file /etc/alsa # rsync -a --delete --delete-excluded --exclude-from=exclude_file /etc server::module properly excludes /etc/alsa but not any file within /etc's directories that is named alsa. On Windows I don't seem to be able to reliably emulate this: C:\Scripts\Backup\rsyncd>type rsyncd_exclude

passwd-file access
Using passwd-file authentication I run into some problems.. This is my passwd file: user:0cc175b9c0f1b6a831c399e269772661[34]:6660:6660:0:/some/mail/directory/user:0::: My MUA tells me after enter my user/pass that the server disconnected, OK. So I netcat into the imap server, and issue an "C: LOGIN user a" in which case I get the error "Fatal: USER environment missing".

accessing function arguments as text, macro style
Hi. In a case like this, I can get strip headings that have the name "c" and the value for c. d <- data.frame(a=1:5,b=6:10,c=11:15) > xyplot(a ~ b | paste("c", c), data=d) > For more complicated examples, instead of using paste repeatedly I would like to use a function. It seems like what I really want is a macro, though. I'm not quite familiar enough

Dreaded ERROR 5 In Robocopy
I'm still battling the dreaded "ERROR 5 (0x00000005)" error when trying to robocopy files from a W2K box to Samba 3.0.7 on FreeBSD. I've been fighting this since Samba 2.2.8 and the upgrade hasn't fixed it for me despite the entries in the changlelog. Now here's the strange part. If robocopy is sending NEW files, files which are on W2K but not on the Samba box, the copy

Port 32230 anyone?
Greetings, Yet another strange pattern of traffic is being halted at the shorewall firewall, but I have no idea what this is. IANA shows the ports unassigned, and a net search yields only some of the same questions - what is this port? There are two machines as SOURCE, on the same class C network, adjacent, even, sending one connect attempt to TCP port 32230 every five minutes. I''m

rsync uploading using ASCII translation ... ?
I am running rsync 2.6.3 on Cygwin 1.5.11-1 over ssh to a remote server (server is also running rsync 2.6.3). When I upload a file via rsync to a remote server, its filesize on the remote is much larger than the local copy, leading me to believe some sort of ASCII translation is being done. Some interesting things: 1. If I upload the file using scp instead of rsync, it works perfectly. 2. If

The Infamous Robocopy Issues...Again
I've been tinkering with this for days now and I can't seem to figure out the problem. I know there were problems < 3.0.8 with robocopy and a few other programs, but even after upgrading, I'm still have a similiar issue with related errors. I'm running Samba 3.0.10 on FreeBSD pointed to an NT4 DC. I'm trying to copy files over to one of it's shares via robocopy from

LCR with ENUM and DDNS: half the story
Ok, so you've read the Wiki and gotten call routing using ENUM to work (http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20E164%20Call%20Routing) with your own ENUM-alike domain, e164.example.com. But how do you populate it with data? You can do it manually, but that gets very tedious very quickly. Or you can use the nifty DDNS updating program that comes with bind9. The first thing is

IIS, ASP, and File Change Notification
I'm running IIS5 on windows 2000 with the root web directory mapped to a samba directory. Everything works great except for IIS's asp caching. Unless I explicitly disable asp script file caching, IIS refuses to invalidate cached asp files without a reboot. Research, including the following MS kb entry, indicates that the problem is that IIS is not getting the file change

Strangeness in mount attempts...
I am attempting to find out why the following is happening, and have been spending the last hour or so scanning the mailing list archives and a couple of FAQs (though I would by no means call the search exhaustive, just geting a little too long for my own taste). As far as I can tell, smbmount is a stripped out smbclient with some extras in there to do the sctual mounting. Which is why I am

[jakob@crt.se: Re: [PATCH] Maildir support]
I don't think he's talking about mail server or clients here. I think this needs some clairification. This really only effects the $MAIL upon login. I've messed with this some, because it's caused problems for me personally at work. Here's the deal with an example: If you do a configure, on a Solaris 2.7 box, and then build sshd, when you log in you get this is you echo
