Advice please - best hardware/config to combine 3 ISPs
I want to build a robust firewall for a resort installation. The
resort''s telephony is entirely VOIP, asterisk based. We have the
following internet feeds:
1) 512/512 kb fixed bandwidth leased line with static IP from Telco-
primary connection, expensive, to use for VOIP, VPN traffic, mail
server, SSH access for remote work. Reliable.
2) 256/512 kb ADSL from Telco, not fixed IP -

OpenVPN and multiple ISPs
I have a server, server A, with three NICs: two to the Internet via
separate ADSL modems, and one to the LAN. The two ''net'' interfaces are
configured as described at http://www.shorewall.net/MultiISP.html. This
has been working for a number of months.
I am now testing an OpenVPN link between server A and another (currently
single-ISP) server (server B). I can establish the VPN

DNS problem
Hello,
Today I restarted the firewall machine during an outage of the ADSL line
overhere. At the boot Shorewall did not start but stopped during start.
The problem was that the ADSL line was down so no DNS server available
to resolve hostnames. I have a hostname in "blacklist" file and
therefore shorewall did not start. Is this problem solvable without
putting an IP address in the

Yes, you all want me to open ports. I'm sorry guys, but I won't budge:
1) Opening a port means reconfiguring the firewall. You may find

Multi-ISP :- Multi-Wan Broadband Router Appliance VS Multiple eth Linux routing
Hi all
I need to use three 512 kbps aDSL internet connections, in a load-sharing,
link-failover scenario. Presently I am using Ipcop with a single DSL. Now, I
seem to have two options...one..an Edimax quad wan port adsl router, with
firewalling and NAT and second install a minimal linux distro for
routing...something on the lines of LARTC....and keep NATTING, IDS &

problems with boot in multiple ISPs
Hi all,
I''ve been trying to set up a shorewall box with 2 ISPs. After a shorewall
start/restart, shorewall correctly configures and balances the default
main route via both ISPs:
[...]
default
nexthop via 200.173.215.94 dev eth0 weight 10
nexthop via 200.157.40.129 dev eth2 weight 20
but after a boot, that route is not configured. Inspecting the code, I

11.21,2 : how to transfer to Jolly Roger ?
I'd like to transfer all my pesky telemarketing calls to Jolly Roger .
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/25/fashion/a-robot-that-has-fun-at-telemarketers-expense.html
In the middle of a call I'd hit some DTMF sequence, which would dial
Jolly Roger and transfer the call after Jolly Roger answers.
But blindtransfer requires an extension after you hear "transfer". And I

Software to monitor security logs and email ISPs?
I know they have software that does this. I'm just not sure which one it
is. Basically here's the scoop. I'm on a cable modem connection with
Comcast. I have a firewall router and I run a firewall on CentOS as
well. All the same, other computers (probably zombies or hackers) are
attempting brute force attacks on a couple of ports on my computer. I've
just sat and watched them for

Support for inbound traffic from multiple ISPs in CVS

correct routing for traffic forwarded from two different ISPs to
internal servers.

different ISPs. This feature is enabled by setting the "default"

ISPs with QoS for VoIP?
I'm wondering if anyone knows of ISPs with service that has QoS
features that would be good to use with VoIP stuff. Granted,
the QoS would only be supported as long as you stayed within
their network, but it might be better than nothing.

htb-gen 9.0beta (htb frontend with web-frontend for home/small/medium ISPs)
original at: http://www.praga.org.ar/wacko/DevPraga/htbgen
Htb-gen has evolved a lot since it release in feb/2006, but i have no
time to make a public decent documented and generalized release.
But right now i think that is better to put the stuff here, so others can
enjoy the notorious improvements (and maybe someone whants to help out)
Lets go to the hacks:
I have made 2 flavors of htb-gen

Problem with routing 2 isps with 2.6.15 kernel
Doing routing based on this:
http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html
Have done it for over a year.
Tried a new 2.6.15 kernel.
Firewall is based on debian sarge.
Most things work ok dnat snat etc.
Can simultaneous ssh in to an internal host via both isps with no problems.
At the moment the default route is via eth2.

New Integrics tip: VoIP for ISPs
All,
I've posted a new tip on the Integrics website. It's on how ISPs can
offer VoIP service to their customers, and why it makes good business
sense to do so.

Qos with 2 internet connections problems
Hi all, ive got 2 internet connections set up via the nano howto (which
are working great) and we are running NAT.
Was looking in to qos mainly to stop large http downloads/ftp downloads
from hogging the line so that browsing for other users doesnt slow to a
crawl, but if the line is free and no one is doing anything then for it
to use the available bandwith. The wondershaper sounded exactly what
