barplot2, gap.barplot
Hello, I try to handle a simple bar-plot, but it turns out to be not as simple as I thought. 1) I have created a .dat-File, e.g. test.dat: DATA DATA-SEM 2.2 0.32 6.2 1.30 12.7 1.61 48.6 3.08 4.1 0.86 4.5 0.32 1.5 1.13 1.2 1.08 The first row is the data represented by bars. The second row deals with the Standard Error of Mean. The lines correspond to time-intervals of experiments. 2) I now

How can I put error bars on a barplot() ?
Hi all, I am a relatively new R user... trying to put error bars (from SD values) on my data represented with barplot(). But I can't find any function or instruction to do so. Is there an easier way to do this than using segments() as I saw in an example in the R reference manual ? Then, can I define there graphical apparence ? Thanks for help. Graphically centering confidence interval in barplot
Hello, I have got a simple "cosmetic" question. I have created a bar plot with confidence intervals using: barplot(mean, ylim = c(0,0.2), las = 3, space = 0) arrows(1:17 ,X95p_low, 1:17, X95p_high, length = 0.07, angle = 90, code = 3, lty = 1) Unfortunately, the confidence bars align with the right side of the bars and I would like to shift these to the middle of the bars. Is

10^x instead 10EX on plot axes. How?
Hi, I'm drawing a very simple plot with both axes logarithmic (default base 10). Example: vec=c(1,10,100,1000,10000,100000,1000000,10000000) plot(vec, vec, log="xy") The axes on the plot now show the technical notation like 1E+3 but I would prefer to have it the notation 10 ^3 i.e. with the exponent here 3 superscript (raised). Any help very much appreciated! Best Regards Tom --

barplot(2?) with CI from a zero reference line
Dear R Users, (and dear Marc) First of all many thanks for the answers to my previous questions. I would like to barplot the mean percent change of a variate with it's CI. Bars should start from the zero reference line to height (in barplot2). Is there a way to tweak barplot2, for example, to do that ? I have tried to see what the function was but unlike other functions was not able to

barplot plotting problem
Hi, Is there any equivalent of type="n" when constructing barplots which will still construct the axes (plot=F, as it says doesn' plot anything at all). Alternatively I tried setting col="white" and border="white" but the border command does not seem to be operational. True?? Any other ideas? What I'm actually trying to do is construct vertical abline()'s

Wrapping long labels in barplot(2)
I am using barplot, and barplot2 in the gregmisc bundle, in the following way: barplot2(sort(xtabs(expend / 1000 ~ theme)), col = c(mdg7, mdg8, mdg3, mdg1), horiz = T, las = 1, xlab = "$ '000", plot.grid = T) The problem is that the values of 'theme', which is a factor, are in some cases rather long, so that I would like to wrap/split them at a space once they

Suggestion: barplot function
Hello developers folks! First, congratulations for the wonderful work with R. For science, barplots with error bars are very important. We were wondering that is so easy to use the boxplot function: boxplot(Spores~treatment, col=treatment_colors) But there is no such function for barplots with standard deviation or standard error. It becomes a "journey" to plot a simple graph (e.g.

rotated labels in barplot with beside=T and multiple groups
I have a data set that I display using barplot. I don't know what you call it, but when I look at it, it looks like this: > lsu (0,0.1] (0.1,0.2] (0.2,0.3] (0.3,0.4] (0.4,0.5] (0.5,0.6] A 0.052631579 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.000000000 B 0.000000000 0.000000000 0.001007049 0.003021148 0.000000000 0.000000000 E 0.200000000 0.000000000

How to include CI in a grouped barplot?
Hello everyone! I need to include the confidence interval bar in a grouped barplot. I've found some options on the web, but none of them solved my problem. The question is: my barplot was created using vectors for each pair of bar and them combining them using cbind. I mean: a=c(10,15) b=c(20,24) c=c(21,23) ... hei=cbind(a,b,c) graph1=barplot(hei, beside=T,...) I've tried to include

Overlying a Normal Dist in a Barplot
R-Users, Hopefully someone can shed some light on these questions as I had little luck searching the archives (although I probably missed something in my search due to the search phrase). I estimated multinomial probabilities for some count data (number successful offspring) ranging from 0 to 8 (9 possible response categories). I constructed a barplot (using barplot2) and I want to

trying to rotate barplot labels
hi everyone : i'm trying to rotate the x axis labels in my barlot ( yes, since yesterday ) and my prob12matrix is 2 rows and 16 columns and i followed the instructions in the archive "rotate barplot labels". i was really looking forward to seeing my labels turned but the plot just came back with no labels ? can anyone see what might be going on ? it worked when i followed the

barplot and missing values?
I want to include missing values in my barplot to get the correct x-axis, for example, x <- c(1,2,3,4, 9) y <- c(2,4,6,8,18) barplot(y) The above looks wrong because the last height in y should be a long way over. So I want to do something like... x <- c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, 9) y <- c(2,4,6,8,0,0,0,0,18) barplot(y) However... I am actually using barplot2 to use the

Adding polygons to a barplot
I have a barplot I have created using barplot2 and I have been able to add points and lines (using the points and lines methods, respectively). I now need to add some polygons (triangles in particular), that I want to be shaded to match bars in the plot. I can get the coordinates of the corners of the triangles, but don't know how to draw the triangles. I know there is the grid.polygon

log Y scales for parplot
Hi, I am doing a barplot, and the fist bar is very big (high values) and the rest of the bars are quite small (small values). So - is there any way to make the Y scale logarithmic so that i have a wider distance from 0 to 50 for example than for 50 to 100, and so on? Thanks in advance for any help, Monica

barplot
Hey, I am trying to create barplot of abundances over time (in days). The period is over 171 days, so I don't want to have all labels there but only the first day of the month. I couldn't find anything like this on the forum yet. Mostrly it's about year to year data. This is the relevant part of my table: datum month abundance 26/03/11 March 1 27/03/11 March 0 28/03/11 March 1
