visualizing frequencies
Dear everybody,
In our game-theory lesson we have run several classroom-experiments where the
students had to decide for a natural number between one and seven. I have
troubles now to visualize the results: be a the vector of answers.
hist(a) will not assume natural numbers as answers, but rational. It will make
the brakes exactly at the natural numbers, which is difficult to interpret,

indexer-worker crashes handling mails with big attachments (dovecot 2.2.16/2.2.18 + FTS Apache Solr + Tika)
Hi,
yesterday i tried to setup Dovecot with Solr (3.6.2) + Tika (1.8) for
FTS. i used a fresh Debian 8.0 system in the beginning with Dovecot
2.2.13 from the Debian repository. After i got some issues with
Tika/Dovecot and i read on the mailinglist that these problems where
fixed in 2.2.14+, so i tried 2.2.18.
With 2.2.18 i get panics with big (ok... huge) attachments. Most

Does --archive include an --update behaviour?
Manpage of rsync 3.0.6 about option --update: [...] This forces rsync
to skip any files which exist on the destination and have a modified
time that is newer than the source file. [...]
Here the manpage is very clear to me!
But if I don't use that option: Would rsync overwrite newer files at
the destination with older files from the source?
The --archive manpage section says nothing

tinc stopped working after restart
Hi.
I'm in desperate need of some good advice.
I have a tinc network with 16 nodes. It's a star topology where all nodes
are connecting to the one node (Node1) that have a static IP.
Node 1 accepts incomming connections
Node 2 through 16 connects to Node1
One of the nodes (Node5) stopped working a while ago (2 - 3 weeks or so),
other than that everything was working fine. Today I

tinc stopped working after restart
All nodes was connected both 1.1pre10 and 1.1pre11 before "tinc -n vpn
restart" at Node 1.
Shouldnt at least the 1.1pre10 nodes connect again?

select method on ActiveRecord::Relation brakes enumeration
class Brake
scope :good, where(:quality => ''good'')
end
Brake.all.select &:nil? #=> works fine
Brake.good.select &:nil? #=> FAILS
Last statement fails because Brake.good.select is returning
ActiveRecord::Relation and not an array.
I have posted a detailed discussion on ticket #4589 .

Winamp "send to" menu is missing
Hi everybody!
This is a problem that brakes my head in two.
I installed Winamp v 5.6 on Ubuntu 10.04, Wine v 1.2.2, and although it works ok, the submenu "send-to" doesn't appear. So I can't make file type conversions with Winamp.
I have read here http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18926 that the problem lies in the file comctl32.dll, so I tried copying it from a Windows

LVM and thin snapshots
Hi there!
Im new here.
Im trying to install Centos 8 on my laptop. I also want to have a
contingency plan in case something brakes.
My first thoughts were to use LVM.
The idea is that i would take multiple snapshots of the system during
the day/week and will keep them for a short time.
I read RHEL documentation about how lvm works and pretty much understand
how to manage the above scenario
