RMySQL load error
I'm having trouble getting RMySQL to load. I was able to build it and install it (RMySQL_0.5-11.tar.gz). I was also able to build and install mysql-5.0.37. I've read many postings about this but have not found a mention of my particular problem (some closely related). I get the "unable to load shared library, no such file" error, but all the files do exist, RMySQL.so and

RMySQL installed but not availalable
I don't use MySQL but I have seen messages like this before. They often have replies which indicate that you need to follow the instructions more closely. I suggest you search the list for these previous posts as I'm sure there is help there, somewhere! RMySQL query: why result takes so much memory in R ?
Hi I just started with RMySQL. I have a database with roughly 12 millions rows/records and 8 columns/fields. From all 12 millions of records I want to import 3 fields only. The fields are specified as:id int(11), group char(15), measurement float(4,2). Why does this take > 1G RAM? I run R on suse linux, with 1G RAM and with the code below it even fills the whole 1G of swap. I just

Rmysql - dbWritetable
Dear Rusers, I am trying to feed my database with data from a file. But since my file (2010101000.txt) there`s no headers I am facing problem because the result data.frame is not separated my columns. How could I set variables names for each columns in *dbWriteTable*? I have tried the command below but I don`t know how to fill the *field.type*option. dbWriteTable(con, "b20101010",

Installing and Loading RMySQL on OS X 2.8
Hello, I have trouble installing and loading the RMySQL package on OS X 2.8. The package seems to install from source fine (using R package manager from within the R environment). I have the following error when I try to load the package: loading package: RMySQL Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) : unable to load shared library

Error loading RMySQL
I have R 2.10.1 and 2.9.1 installed, and both have RMySQL packages installed. I script I'd developed using an older version (2.8.?, I think) used RMySQL too and an older version of MySQL (5.0.?), and worked fine at that time (about a year and a half ago +/- a month or two). But now, when I run it again, on new data, the script works fine until it is supposed to store its results in my DB.

"\r" with RSQLite
What am I doing wrong, or is the \r that I'm getting in the example below a bug? > a <- (1:10) > b <- (LETTERS[1:10]) > df <- as.data.frame(cbind(a, b)) > > df a b 1 1 A 2 2 B 3 3 C 4 4 D 5 5 E 6 6 F 7 7 G 8 8 H 9 9 I 10 10 J > library(RSQLite) > drv <- dbDriver("SQLite") > con <- dbConnect(drv, dbname = "Test")

RMySQL and R 2.7.0 - "Error in field.types$row.names : $ operator is invalid for atomic vectors"
Hi when executin the following code, I get an "$ operator is invalid for atomic vectors". I understand the meaning of the error (and have seen the warnings in earlier R versions). My question is, is there an updated version of RMySQL which deals with it, or is my on;ly option to switch to RODBC (which I would not like to do as I am using Linux)? If I have to use RODBC, how can I easily

RMySQL inserting data problem
Hello, I am trying to insert data in a data.frame into a database table using the RMySQL package m <- dbDriver("MySQL") con <- dbConnect(m, host = "blah", user = "blah", password = "blah", dbname = "blah") proid <- dbGetQuery(con, "select max(processed_data_id)+1 from processed_data") spot <-

large list from mdb.get - change labled atomic to double
I have a microsoft database that I have read in that is a list of dataframes processed by mdb.get. I am trying to read this into GRASS gis and need to change the labled atomic vectors to double precision- especially the coord.x coord.y. Now is there a way to check for classes and then change them inside of a for loop. This is the code I am using at the moment. library(Hmisc) # Read all tables

Problem with save or/and if (I think but maybe not ...)
Hi, I recently discovered the R program and I thought it could be useful to me. I have to analyse data saved as .Px file (x between 0 and 8 - .P0 files have 18 lines at the beginning that I have to skip). New files are generated everyday. This is my strategy : In order to analyse the data, I first want to copy the new data in a database in MySQL (which already contains the previous data). So

generic database access methods
I've been putting together a package that defined generic methods for database access. The packages is called "Rdbi." It borrows as much as possible from existing database packages / proposals. I'd like to start a discussion about the proposed interface. Here's what I've come up with so far: # # Rdbi: connectionMethods.R # dbConnect <- function(dbObj, ...)

name space conflict using RMySQL and ROracle
Hello everybody, could anybody give me a hint how to to use RMySQL and ROracle libraries at the same time without getting conflict with name spaces? Because it needs to much time, unloading and reloading the libraries is no solution... Running RMySQL with SuSE 8.2?
Since there doesn't appear to be an RMySQL rpm for SuSE 8.*, does anyone know if the 7.3 version will work with the SuSE 8.2 rpms of R and DBI? The package installs without complaint, but when I try to run con <- dbConnect(dbDriver("MySQL"),dbname="test") I get the error Error in dbConnect(dbDriver("MySQL")) : couldn't find function

RMySQL - overwrite record, not table
Hi, useR- In RMySQL, how do I overwrite records? (equivalent to "replace" query). For example, suppose that dat2 is a newer data.frame than dat1. con <- dbConnect(MySQL()) res <- dbWriteTable(con, "DBname", dat1, row.names=F, append=T, replace=T) res <- dbWriteTable(con, "DBname", dat2, row.names=F, append=T, replace=T) This would not update/replace the

RSQLite to input dataframe
Dear r helpers, At first, I apologize for raising a query which seems to be a stupid interpretation on my part. I am trying to learn SQLite. Following is an example given in the RSQLite.zip file (Page # 4) drv <- dbDriver("SQLite") tfile <- tempfile() con <- dbConnect(drv, dbname = tfile) data(USArrests) dbWriteTable(con, "arrests", USArrests) On the similar

How to create temporary table in MySQL
Creating a temp table isn't completely intuitive with MySQL 5 and R 2.8..1, but it can be done. > library(RMySQL) Loading required package: DBI > con <- dbConnect(dbDriver("MySQL"), dbname = "foo", user="me",password="secret") > x<- data.frame(1:10) > colnames(x) <-c("x") > dbWriteTable(con, "#x", x,
