Multiple gateways
Hello, Since I could not figure out my previous problem, let me ask in a different way. I have 3 networks inside my LAN. They are 172.16.55.0/24 , 172.16.56.0/24 and 172.16.57.0/24 respectively. They all use eth0 as an alias. I also have 2 uplinks to different ISPs. One of them is leased line and the other one is ADSL. One of my uplink is 81.8.120.18/30 with gateway 81.8.120.17 on eth1 and the

Fail-over uplink problem
Hi list, I have a problem I thought was simple first, but now I''m stuck. In a nutshell, it''s about redundant uplinks at an outside location. Crude ASCII-Art follows: Internet | | +------------+ | cisco with | | uplinks | +------------+ | | ATM interface +----------+ ... | alvarion | | | wireless

[Bridge] help setting up a linux bridge with spanning tree to allow multiple vlans accross multiple uplinks
For easy reading: http://www.karthaus.nl/r/ Hi, We used to have 1 single ip range (1.1.1.0/24) that had one uplink to a = switch of the colocation provider. Recently we got a second range 2.2.2.0/24 and a redundant uplink = directly on two routers. But our switch does not have spanning tree = protocol support so we cannot use them redundantly. We have set up the switch to have a vlan for both

network redundancy via two nics, two routers?
Hi List, I'm trying to configure two switches to provide redundancy (i.e. in case one switch goes down), and am wondering if there is a standard way to configure a CentOS box to use different gateways in a bonded interface, depending upon which physical nic is being used? A bit more detail might help answer the "And why do you want to do that?" questions... - Switch 1,

PoE switch recommendations?
Hey, all. We're rolling out VoIP, and I'm wondering about PoE recommendations, as we're going to have to replace our current network equipment. My first inclination would be to just plunk down the cash and do a Cisco system, but I'm relatively certain that would get shot down by finance. Any recommendations for a couple-hundred-port solution with VLANs, PoE, and QoS? Don't

Huge system load using HTB
Hi! I have some problems with htb performance. THE SETUP: I have a network with 3 ISP uplinks and 1 local network uplink. There are about 1700 clients. I was shaping their bandwidth with HTB using iptables mangling in a manner: tc class add dev $DEV parent 1:10 classid 1:${CLASS_ID} htb rate \ 16kbit ceil 512kbit burst 2kb prio 2 quantum 1500 tc qdisc add dev $DEV parent 1:${CLASS_ID}

client disconnecting
Hi, I have two connections to the Internet. I implemented the load balancing as described in chapter 4.2 "Routing for multiple uplinks/providers" The problem that occurred is that the client applications like Yahoo Messenger or even PuTTY (SSH client) are loosing the connection very often. Does anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone knows an workaround for this problem?

Two uplinks, two networks and policy routing help requested
I am hoping that someone with more experience and knowledge than I can assist me in finding a solution ;) We have a RedHat AS4 box with 5 interfaces. Two interfaces serve two different networks and two interfaces connect to two different uplinks. The fifth interface is our management interface. Since a picture is worth a thousand words I attempted to come up with a diagram:

ESFQ Modification
Hi! Some time ago I faced a problem in limiting traffic on host with multiple uplinks. Since all the stuff worked nice seemed that there will be no problems. But then I realized that P2P users are smart enough to bypass limits as sfq doesn''t give fair sharing in this case (thousands of connections from one user versus few from the other). I tried IMQ but it''s instability in my

assigning "best" gateway via DHCP
What might I do Linux-wise to create a "system" that looked at multiple gateways and then assigned (via DHCP) the gateway that was the least congested? Anyone have any good suggestions in this department? (I am planning on having a temporary wireless mesh with several satellite uplinks, and I would like to forward requests to whichever uplink is the least utilized)

Multiple Uplinks with the same gateway ip?!
Hi folks, i spent my whole day trying to set up my linux router using load balancing with multiple uplinks. I mainly focused on the nano howto, but somewhere I have a big mistake within my head. Basically the load-balancing is working, but not on a per-connection basis - just on a per packet basis. Practically this is not usable of course <g> But as far as I understood it should work..

Question regarding Split Access description
Hi All, I''m a big user of the LARTC document but am currently stuck with a question around section 4.2 (http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html) in relation to "Routing for multiple uplinks/providers". I''m wanting to do a similar setup to the diagram where I have - lets just say for the moment - two uplink providers where I want to route over two

Multiple uplinks - load balancing
Hello! I have set up a LINUX router with two seperate uplinks to do load balancing. I made all the configuration after the "NANO-HOWTO to use more than one independent Internet connection" document. I patched my 2.4.24 kernel with patches, described in this document. My configuration is: --------------------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/bash

multilink/multiprovider load balancing
Lately I''ve been entertaining the idea of setting up a neighborhood network (wireless and possibly some wired). I have a few neighbors who subscribe to your typical consumer grade broadband connection (e.g. Comcast cable or Verizon DSL) and a number of neighbors with no connectivity or are still stuck on dial-up. Currently I''m sharing my connection with my nearest neighbor but
