Capturing R console output into a file (sink+savehistory ??)
After reading more, I understand I didn't formulate my last question
correctly, so please allow me to rephrase:
What I am looking for is a way to save the R console session output.
That is, a command that would combine the results of using:
?sink # And
?savehistory
My motivation for this is that doing it will allow someone who is a blind
user of R to be able to easily export his results to

There is a new competition, outlined on the blog

Since I noticed several bloggers already wrote about it (as I have detailed

Windows 7, update.packages problem: "unable to move temporary installation"?
Hello all,
I am using R 2.13.0 with windows 7, after giving my user full privileges to
the R folder (as described
here<http://www.r-statistics.com/2011/04/how-to-upgrade-r-on-windows-7/>
).
This allows me to install new packages just fine.
However, when using update.packages(), to update existing packages, I keep
getting the following error (for example, when updating the MASS package):

Regarding {KernSmooth} - Can a package on CRAN have non GPL copyrights?
Hi all,
I'm not sure who to ask this, so I'm posting this here.
I just ran:
require(KernSmooth)
And got (I bolded the text):
Loading required package: KernSmooth
KernSmooth 2.23 loaded
*Copyright M. P. Wand 1997-2009*
Warning message:
package 'KernSmooth' was built under R version 2.12.1
What does that mean?
Thanks,

Is it possible to "right align" text in R graphics?
Hello all,
The following line of code includes a right-to-left language text, yet the
R graphics engine displays it from left to right. One problem this causes
is when there are parenthesis in the test, here is a basic example?
plot(1:10, main = "שלום (טקסט)")
Is there a way to make sure the text is displayed from right to left?
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Tal

Is there a way to have 'comment' keep a list?
Hello all,
I recently discovered the "comment" command.
I see it can only hold a vector of characters.
Is there a way (or an alternative), to make it possible to have it keep a
list?
(for example, to keep different pieces of information like date of creation,
information of each variable and so on)
The closest solution I can think of is using 'names' on the vector, like
this:

Why am I getting different results from cor VS ccf ?
Hi all,
I am getting different results from ccf and cor,
Here is a simple example:
set.seed(100)
N <- 100
x1 <- sample(N)
x2 <- x1 + rnorm(N,0,5)
ccf(x1,x2)$acf[ccf(x1,x2)$lag == -1]
cor(x1[-N], x2[-1])
Results:
> ccf(x1,x2)$acf[ccf(x1,x2)$lag == -1]
[1] -0.128027
> cor(x1[-N], x2[-1])
[1] -0.1301427

Why was the ‘doSMP’ package removed from CRAN?
Hello dear list,
I just noticed that:
Package ‘doSMP’ was removed from the CRAN repository.
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/doSMP/index.html
Does any one know the reason for this?
Is this a technical or a legal (e.g: license) issue?
Thanks,

Combining several plots besides a dendrogram?
Hello all,
I would like to recreate the plot shown here (from a useR 2009
presentation):
http://www.agrocampus-ouest.fr/math/useR-2009/abstracts/pdf/Hocking.pdf
I downloaded the code for that image, and discovered that it relies on
external web services, and also having PERL installed on the computer.
I believe this could be done "locally" using the "seqLogo"

Making ?source act as if it is run through the terminal
Hello dear R help,
The motivation for my question is wanting to run HTMLStart {R2HTML package}
from "source".
*Background:*
I was happy to discover the [ HTMLStart/HTMLStop, HTMLplot] functions in the
R2HTML package.
They allow my R code to run almost as is, but while writing most of the
output (including the figures, when using HTMLplot) into an external HTML
file.

Why doesn't my change of "Renviron.site" work on "windows 7" ?
Hi all,
I added the following line on the "Renviron.site" file:
R_LIBS=C:\Program Files (x86)\R\library
And when I start R and run:
.libPaths()
I don't see this path.
On windows XP it worked for me. I am now using windoes 7 (64 bit) with R
32.
Is there a reason this shouldn't work?
Thanks,
Tal
