Sendmail not working
All;
I installed sendmail via yum, but if I test it like this:
echo "Subject: sendmail test" | sendmail sbob at quadratum-braccas.com
I get a local mail on the server with this every time:

sendmail & mail() in php
Hello everyone,
I tried to configure sendmail so that I can use mail() in php. I don't
host my email server, my ISP does. I just want to configure sendmail so
that it uses external email server (my ISP) to send mail. When I executed
mail(), i got no error report from php. I checked /var/log/maillog and it
indicated that the message was accepted for delivery. However, it didn't

Sendmail --- HELP!
I posted something about this a while ago and didn't get any response. I
having a HUGE problem with sendmail. I'm clueless that sendmail is even
down until I check the box. No mail comes in until I restart and even then
sendmail doesn't stay up.
Note: I have only been having this problem since FreeBSD 4.8. I have been
doing the same setup for ages on all my boxes without

Sendmail with TLS, permission problem
Hello, list,
I have a problem with Sendmail configuration.
I'm building (on CentOS 5) a "dual-MTA" setup with amavisd-new (as specified
in amavisd-new documentation, file README.sendmail-dual).
So far so good. But when I tried to add server SMTP-AUTH and TLS, I get a
strange, permission-related error, and STARTTLS will not start.
In my .mc conf, the Sendmail user is now the usual

sendmail + plain auth
I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can get sendmail to give me AUTH
PLAIN and LOGIN options.
What I have is fairly standard configuration. The relevant part of sendmail.mc
looks something like this:
define(`confCACERT_PATH',`/etc/ssl/certs')
define(`confCACERT',`/etc/ssl/ca-bundle.crt')
define(`confSERVER_CERT',`/etc/ssl/smtp.crt')

Mail server with both postfix and sendmail installed, active MTA gets switched.
Ok, so a bit of a long subject line there...
I'm running an email server using postfix, but a critical third-party
package being used requires 'sendmail' the package.? No, I can't
uninstall that package, please don't suggest that, and I don't have
control of its requires.? So both postfix and sendmail are installed,
and that's just the way it has to be.?

Selective Sendmail Relaying.
Hi all,
I've been trying to hit on the right configuration combo to allow
relaying from specific users and/or domains to an internal box running
Sendmail.
Reading the docs at http://www.sendmail.org/m4/anti_spam.html#relay
and http://www.sendmail.org/m4/anti_spam.html#access_db_fine
I would appear that I should be able to all per-address relaying in
/etc/mail/access by enabling

Deferring, instead of rejecting, messages when at quota
Greetings -
I'm having trouble working out where to alter this behaviour (so
please forgive me if it turns out to be an Exim thing rather than
Dovecot!)...
My test service is using Exim as the MTA and Dovecot's "deliver" for
the LDA. We are using Maildir mailboxes with filestore quotas.
When I send a large test message to myself that cannot be delivered
because I

Dovecot Sendmail Maildir
Hi all,
I'm using Debian (testing) for my office mail. I'm using sendmail
and Dovecot to deliver email to clients over IMAP using mbox format.
I want to move over and start using Maildir. I know that I can use
different MTA's to do the job, but I really like sendmail, and I run
additional sendmail servers across the my internal and external
networks. I'm probably

What can I do to close my sendmail.
Thanks,
Jerry

sendmail: fatal message, sudo bash
Centos 5
Hello
I successfully converted my mta from sendmail to postfix.
no problem. mail is ok.
A by-product of that, as bizarre as it may seem is this:
As regular user, when I do 'su -' to become root, all is well.
As regular user, when I do 'sudo bash' I become root
alright but I also get:
sendmail: fatal: Recipient addresses must be specified on the command line

Sendmail, localloop, and iptables -- should I be more paranoid?
By default, sendmail only listens on the localloop:
DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl
But by default to allow sendmail to even work the iptables entry is:
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 25 -j
ACCEPT
Without this, sendmail can't even connect to localloop. But should I
handedit this line to something like:

Sendmail is considered deprecated
Hello,
Today I searched redhat official portal and learned that Sendmail is considered deprecated. By default, CentOS 7 will use postfix as MTA. I need good advise on what it means to us. We are CentOS customers. We use that operating system for quite a few years. We rely on Sendmail for years for us to relay large quantity of emails to our customers for marketing purpose. We build our additional

sendmail and rbl blocking - generating statistics
I have enabled the feature in sendmail.mc to check with spamhaus for
spammers. However since this block is being made at MTA level, I would
like to know is something can be done to obtain statistics of blocked
attemps.
thanks

Sendmail and Dovecot deliver (dovecot-lda)
Hi,
I have a Centos 5 system with sendmail running as my MTA.
Normally I note from sendmail logs that mails get delivered using the
'local' mailer.
I have therefore entered the following into my sendmail.mc file, from an
earlier post on this list:
define(`LOCAL_MAILER_PATH',`/usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver')
define(`LOCAL_MAILER_FLAGS',`DFMPhfnu9')

configuring sendmail to work with dovecot+LDAP
I would like to setup dovecot (1.1.20) with LDAP virtual users,
but I don't seem to understand how to get my sendmail to accept
mail for the virtual users.
(I am rather new to this, so I may have some misunderstandings)
I have followed - wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotOpenLdap
(OpenLDAP 2.3.43)
and I think I have IMAP working for virtual users.
I can connect to port 143, enter a username and
