Thunderbird supports SPECIAL-USE (Merry x-mas!)
I've waited about two years to write this mail... :) As of Dezember, 24th Mozilla Thunderbird can handle SPECIAL-USE. The patch, which adds the required functionality, has passed review and TBs nightly build was successful. The next official Thunderbird release (version 38, release date 2015-05-19) will very likely ship SPECIAL-USE included. \o/ SPECIAL USE is an IMAP extension. It means

SPECIAL-USE again
Hi, Great to see Thunderbird support SPECIAL-USE now. I would like to hear the list about the intended use of SPECIAL-USE. I get the impression from several earlier mails here that the intention is for the server to globally decide what the folder-name of a specific SPECIAL-USE folder is for all users. That's the way the documentation exemplifies it and what I get from posts like this:

Custom Trash (etc) location
Hi there. I have dovecot 1.2.17 installed on me system. I'd like to create a gmail-esque imap tree where all imap folders except for the inbox are in a subdirectory(?). More importantly, I'd like the email client (specifically thunderbird) to be able to recognise the folders and thusly give it a special trash/junk/etc icon which I presume also makes trash and junk go to, well the

RFE: IMAP LIST Extension for Special-Use Mailboxes
Timo, would you consider adding support for "IMAP LIST Extension for Special-Use Mailboxes" <http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc6154.txt> any time near in the future? I would really love to get rid of all those folders created by all those different mail clients just because they can't agree to use the same folder for special purpose. Obviously clients need to support it too.

questions about SPECIAL-USE and virtual
Hi, I have some questions about Special-Use and virtual namespace: I want to create a virtual namespace with mailboxes: Sent, Unread, Flagged, All. 1. Is it enough to put in the config file: mailbox virtual/Sent { auto = subscribe special_use = \Sent } mailbox virtual/Unread { auto = subscribe special_use = \Unread #Is it correct? } mailbox

Outlook renames Junk folder
Hello, Some versions of Outlook will randomly rename the Junk folder to Junk Email. This of course causes errors because Dovecot can no longer store junk. I go in to Outlook for each user and add another Junk folder, so now they have Junk and Junk Email. This fix action lasts a while until Outlook decides to do it again. Is there a way to tell Dovecot that if the Junk folder doesn't

RFC 5258 violation: incomplete response for "LIST ($OPT RECURSIVEMATCH) ..."
Hi there, RFC 5258 (IMAP4 LIST command extensions) defines a ?RECURSIVEMATCH? selection option which ?forces the server to return information about parent mailboxes that don't match other selection options, but have some submailboxes that do.? (Section 3.5 makes the requirement even clearer.) However that's not what Dovecot 2.3.7 does. AFAICT no LIST response is returned for mailboxes

Capability COMPRESS implemented?
Hi, I just read that http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4978 ..is being implemented in Thunderbird 3. This is great news! It's been a long time since we last discussed this and I don't think it's currently implemented in Dovecot, but since Cyrus just added it, any chance of getting support in Dovecot please? (Fastmail seems to be supporting this effort) On a similar note we had a

an e-mail client for dovecot ?
Hello all, For some years now, I've been using Thunderbird for dovecot. I am not very satisfied with t/b so I thought of using m/s outlook but then I thought that I want to distance my clients from office products. I have a newly created dovecot installation on a very small site. Three nodes, all x86 Windows 7 professional with an ubuntu v14.04 server (x86 again) running dovecot 1.2.17.

Proposal - Extended Channel Layouts in Opus
I've run into some issues using Opus with source files in channel layouts other than the default 8. For instance, 2.1 isn't supported, so I have to either downconvert to 2.0 or upconvert to 5.1 (which usually involves adding empty channels, which prevents the playback device from upconverting to the native layout). To address this, I've put together an initial draft of an I-D I'd

sorting question
Hi, If I understand the thread sorting algorithm correctly (from draft-ietf-imapext-sort-17.txt and the code), it will sort like this (where I use numbers instead of dates with higher numbers being newer mails) 4 10 3 11 2 12 1 13 etc into all the lower levels. Thunderbird will actually sort this like this: 1 13 2 12 3 11 4 10 where threads are sorted by the newest child in
