Server power loss and "Dovecot is already running with PID xxx"
Hi, I'm running Dovecot 1.0.7 (with various patches) on CentOS 5.2. The server has suffered a couple of power loss events. Dovecot is run as a standalone server. The problem is that dovecot refuses to start up at boot because the PID file from before the power loss is left behind. The message is as follows: $ /sbin/service dovecot start Starting Dovecot Imap: Error: Dovecot is already

problem running Sweave as a web service with anti-virus software
Hello R mailing list We are trying to use R and Sweave, running as a web service on a server to prepare statistical reports but are having problems with our anti-virus software apparently prohibiting execution due to what we think is Sweave trying to run an executable in one of the system's temporary folders. As background, we use the following Rscript command to invoke Sweave (the text in

Any tips on dealing with a super hung XAPI process?
One of the cluster nodes (XS 5.6 SP2/not master) became unresponsive to XAPI calls being sent from a CloudStack management server. In the past, a simple xe-toolstack-restart would do the trick but the script timed out while restarting the XAPI daemon. I found the process and first tried to use a simple kill command but the process was in a "defunct" state. I tried a kill -9 but no joy.

Can strptime handle milliseconds or AM/PM?
I'm trying to proess date/time fields from files that were given to me to analyze. Any clues what I'm doing wrong with strptime? This seems to fail the same way under Linux or Windows. For ?strptime would it make sense to explain %OS3 somewhere besides the Examples? > # Why does %OS3 work here? > format(Sys.time(), "%H:%M:%S") [1] "16:45:19" >

libvirt_lxc memory limit, emulator process part of the cgroup?
hi, I am currently investigating a bug with libvirt lxc. Whenever I do a systemctl daemon-reload on the host, my container loses his memory limit and then reports having access to 8 exabyte of memory. I have tracked the issue down to two parts: memory.limit_in_bytes jumps from the correct value to 9223372036854771712. libvirt lxc appears to set the memory limit in transient way without writing

[ADMINISTRATIVE] bugzilla.netfilter.org running again
Hi! After bugzilla.netfilter.org went down on October 24 due to mysql database corruption during a system update, I have now finally found some spare time to investigate and fix the problem. I'm deeply sorry that it has taken that long, but my time to spend on netfilter is close to zero at this point (will increase in Q1/2007!) I'd like to also use this opportunity to thank the active

kernel and netfilter patches already in Redhat AS 4 for IPSEC
I read LinuxFest NW 2005 Presentation pdf. On page 32, mentioned it required patches on kernel 2.6.x and netfilter and It only said that SuSE 9.2 and 9.3 had patches on it''s stock kernel. I''m using Redhat AS 4. Anybody knows does the stock kernel and netfilter had theses patches patched ? or How should I know the kernel and netfilter had these patches applied ? thanks!
