Running a dovecot cluster with mixed versions?
I have been trying to find information and possible issues with running a cluster of dovecot server with different versions without any luck. We have an existing cluster with dovecot v1.1.10 and tried migrating to a new cluster with dovecot v2.0.12. We ran into some issues when we moved traffic to the new cluster and have been unable to reproduce it in our own testing. We may need to put real

Testers needed for VoIP router solution
Hi all, We have put together a firmware for a range of inexpensive routers. It has been configured to provide optimum VoIP performance. We have internally tested it for number of months and it looks very good. You should be able to run it easily with 20+ phones on local network ( we still did not hit the upper limit ) assuming that you have bandwidth. Your VoIP will get prioritized over other

Outlook can't see namespace folders
Hi guys i understand that you can't subscribe to the Prefix names of namespace folders right now with dovecot. But for instance if i user outlook express and it can't see the prefix name then it can't see the subfolders of that "prefix folder" either. So even though it can detect and see the subfolders it won't display them cause it can't see the "parent"

Dovecot v2.0 wiki
I forked the wiki to http://wiki1.dovecot.org/ is the old docs for v1.x http://wiki2.dovecot.org/ is the new docs for v2.0 For now wiki.dovecot.org points to wiki1, but once v2.0 is released I'll change it to point to wiki2. I symlinked the user directory, so users should stay synced between the wikis. The main reason for wiki2 is to be able to describe Dovecot v2.0's actual behavior

outlook2007 shows frequent imap disconnect no matter what outlook-idle setting in dovecot.conf
Hello, I saw the problem quite often in various posts but could not find a real solution . Problem is that I frequently get annoying popups from outlook 2007 about imap idle timeouts which block working with outlook until the popup is acknowledged. The popup says: Your IMAP server closed the connection. This can occur if you leave the connection idle for too long. Protocol: IMAP Server:

v1.1 max connections per user
v1.1 has now: # Maximum number of connections allowed for a user. The limits are enforced # separately for IMAP and POP3 connections, so you can move this setting # inside protocol {} to have separate settings for them. NOTE: The user names # are compared case-sensitively, so make sure your userdb returns usernames # always using the same casing so users can't bypass this limit!

Temporary files
In v1.0 .. v1.1 deliver was writing incoming >128k mail to /tmp file (to avoid reading it all into memory). In v1.2 I moved it to user's home directory. This slowed deliveries for NFS users. Also people with filesystem quota had trouble since now user required twice as much available quota to save a message. The FS quota problem was "solved" by having quota-fs plugin change the

Outlook 2003 - Disappearing favorite folders
Hello all, I'm having an issue with Outlook 2003, where favorite folders seem to disappear. Specifically, they are subfolders of the Inbox. The Inbox favorite folder stays there without a problem. Any clues as to what the problem may be? With the previous IMAP server (courier I believe) this wasn't a problem...so it leads me to believe that Dovecot might be the problem. I'm

config file includes
Hi all, ok, I couldn't quite find this in any of the documentation, so I figured I would ask here. In preparation to move to version 2.0 to take advantage of the mutiple IP and SSL cert options that are coming, it would be really nice to be able to include other config files in the main config file, so that I don't have to edit the main config in order to add new IP addresses or certs...

Problems with Outlook clients after a migration
Hi, I'm doing the final tests before I migrate my 10000 users from RHEL 4 + dovecot 1.1.20 to RHEL5 + dovecot 1.2.11, and I'm having some serious problems with outlook 2007 clients disconnecting very often. In dovecot's log I see lot of connects and disconnects from these clients (as oposed to my kmail, that just connects once when I come in and disconnects when I shut it off).

mbox with sub-folders and messages?
Hi, Is it possible to have dovecot configured to use mbox format and yet have folders that contains sub-folders and messages? I'm thinking of a simple setup where any files directory with extension .sbd are presented to the IMAP client without the extension. So if you have a mbox file named BOX01 and a directory name BOX01.sdb would show has one on the client side (note: that is the way

Listen on multiple ports possible using same protocol?
Is it possible to have multiple Listen directives in a dovecot configuration file for the same protocol? I am running dovecot-1.2.11 and I want to be able to use the "standard port" as well as a test port: protocol imap { listen = *:143 listen = *:10143 ssl_listen = *:993 ssl_listen = *:10993 for example. Or is this more preferably done by pointing
