k3b -> cddb doesn't work
Copying a CD with k3b is no problem, except I want to include on my copy the cbbd data (from freedb.org). I've configured k3b's cddb section according to instructions at <http://www.freedb.org/en/faq.3.html#15> and read every article google could find about "k3b cddb freedb.org config", but still k3b can't manage it. Grip handles getting the cddb data just fine.

cue generation under linux and cdrdao
Greetings, I really love the one flac per cd idea. So, I pulled all my cds out of storage to re-encode them. I've run into a couple of general issues here: I've done some comparisons between eac under windows, and cdrdao under linux. It seems that after converting the cdrdao data to .wav, both programs result in perfectly identical .wav files for the 3 cds I tested. However,

k3b doesn't burn video disk
I create DVDs from camcorder output. In the past I've always just dragged the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders into k3b and the disk has burned successfully. On this new box I tried to do the same, but k3b says that it 'Found invalid entry in the VIDEO_TS folder (AUDIO_TS). That seems to be utter nonsense, if it means that AUDIO_TS is inside the folder VIDEO_TS. If it doesn't,

Creating an iso image of a audio CD with K3B
Can you do this? I have not found the options to get this to happen. So far I have seen how to read the Audio CD and make a directory of WAV files with a control file for later burning to CD, but I want an iso image that I can archive and burn audio CDs to use as they get used up.

Good morning, Does anyone know of a yum repository for k3b for Centos 4? (Yes, I've googled and after a few pages my head just started to spin - however, that could be normal :) ) Thanks! Jeff

On CentOS 5.4 I just installed K3B to write some CDs. Now every time I used a CD, I get a popup that asks me to "Select a CDDB entry ...". How can I stop this popup? Thanks, Mike,

Die, KDE! Die! (Sticking with Gnome and Yum Conflicts)
Okay, I experimented with both KDE and Gnome, and decided I'd rather use Gnome. After making this decision, I wanted to remove KDE, because I like to keep my hard drive as lean as possible. I accomplished this, or so I thought, by running: # yum groupremove "KDE (K Desktop Environment)". It seemed to work. Removed a whole bunch 'o stuff. Okay, but then I wanted to install k3B,

k3b 1.0.3, qt and C5 64-bit?
I have C5 64-bit running on my laptop and am trying to get k3b 1.0.3 compiled from source. It keeps complaining about qt not being installed or available. I performed a yum install of everything qt, but it still complains. I've read some postings on various web pages about creating symlinks, but although tried, that still didn't fix any problems. What am I missing? Thhanks. Scott

OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 vs. 2.0.2
Hi, I recently migrated from Slackware 10.2 to CentOS 4.3, upon advice of fellow Slacker and CentOS user Daniel de Kok. Been working very intensively for the last three weeks with it, and I must say: I really like it. This is the Real Work(tm) Distro I was always looking for! There's a practical reason for this: beginning on June 1st I will be chief sysadmin of our village's town hall.

NULL pointer dereference
Hi! I tried to use cdrdao on 2.5.5x kernels but kernel gives me following messages. Further debugging reveals that sb is NULL in __ext3_std_error() function. I tried this on ext2 and it seems it isn't ext3 specific, on ext2 it also doesn't work. cdrdao is after this in D state and is unkillable, but the CD-ROM drive from which I tried to grab is perfectly usable. This happens to me

Checkinstall and R-2.14.0
Dear all, I try to install the latest R version using checkinstall (v. 1.6.2) on Ubuntu 11.10. After solving all the dependencies (installed using apt-get build-dep r-base) checkinstall fails to build and install R package with the following error (the same commands build and install R-2.13.2 on the same machine without any problem): wget

Re: Security Concern..
[Mod: This message is a reason *why* linux-security is moderated list. This is also a reason why Rogier, myself, Alan Cox and others really do not want to have completely open lists that deal with security related aspects of running a system as way too many people just jump to conclusions and give suggestions without doing any reasearch on a subject. -- alex (co-moderator of

FLAC CD Archive
Hi, Bit late to join in the discussion but I've just read through the CD archiving discussion and was particular interested in Dax's method, described here (also included below): http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac/2006-September/000611.html So far I've just been flac-ing my CDs to individual one-flac-per-track files, however it appears I've been missing some of the other bits
