Having two columns in a model point to another table
Hey, I''m kind of new to Rails, and would appreciate it if someone could
point me in the right direction on this.
I have a "users" table in my application, and I wanted to set up a "debts"
table, to store debts between users.
My current table structure for "debts" is
CREATE TABLE debts (
id int not null auto_increment,
owed_user_id int not null, # User

Samba 3.0.22 on AIX Authenticating to AD 2003
I have been trying to get Samba 3.0.22 to authenticate to our Active
Directory 2k3 environment for about 3 weeks now. I have gotten to a
point where google searches are no longer helpful. We have an IBM 9133
server on AIX 5.3. I had to use the binaries because the sources failed
the make install. We are using IBM's version of Kerberos Network
Authentication Service because the MIT version

There is a Federal Court Order in place and has been since Friday early a.m. ALL Suppliers are now under a Court Order that prevents them from terminating any and all services to LiveVoip LLC. If they take such any action they will be in direct

Weights in glmmPQL
Hello,
I am using the R function glmmPQL to fit a logistic GLMM, with weights.
I am finding that I get fairly different parameter estimates in glmmPQL
from fitting the full dataset (with no "weight" statement) and an
equivalent, shorter dataset with the weights statement. I am using the
weights statement in the 'glmmPQL' function exactly as in the 'glm'
function. I

Acrobat Reader broken on CentOS 4.3
I have had Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.1 installed on my CentOS 4.2 desktop
and it worked fine. After upgrading to 4.3, I can't get it to come up
anymore. I downloaded Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and it does the same. I'd
appreciate any suggestions on what to look for, since the executable and
the startup scripts are not giving me any useful errors to chase.

Phi parameter in corAR(1) in NLMEs
Hello,
I have been fitting nonlinear models with random effects using nlme with the
corCAR1 correlation structure, as I have unequally spaced observations per
subject, and serially correlated errors. My question is regarding the Phi
parameter.
Example of output:
Correlation Structure: Continuous AR(1)
Formula: ~day | subject
Parameter estimate(s):

just don''t ''get'' "has one" and "belongs to one"
Well, I understand what they do and how, I just don''t get why!
It seems to me that any time you would have this relationship between
two tables...they should be one table! Agile Rails book gives what
seems to me to be a lame example for this. They use the example of an
"invoice" and an "order". An invoice belongs to an order and an order
has one invoice. Seems

csv/Rails 3/ruby 1.9.2p0/mysql encoding problem
I''m having an encoding problem, even though I''m attempting to have all
my data always be in utf-8. Here''s the path the data takes:
I have a CSV file that I believe is in utf-8, because I''m looking at
it in a hex editor. One of the words is:
64 65 62 74 6F 72 E2 80 99 73
which translates to:
debtor’s [that is, it contains a smart apostrophe]

Regression model with proportional dependent variable
Hello, dear experts. I don't have much experience in building
regression models, so sorry if this is too simple and not very
interesting question.
Currently I'm working on the model that have to predict proportion of
the debt returned by the debtor in some period of time. So the
dependent variable can be any number between 0 and 1 with very high
probability of 0 (if there are no payment)

Introduce yourself and your project -- Round 2
On December 14th, 2004 David Heinemeier Hansson sent this to the mailing
list:
I''m seeing a lot of new names on the list. Could
we perhaps do a round of introductions? That would
also be a great first post, if you haven''t had a
chance to contribute yet. The basics should include
your name, your organization, your country and city,
and the project you''re
