Dovecot + DRBD/GFS mailstore
Hi guys,
I'm looking at the possibility of running a pair of servers with
Dovecot LDA/imap/pop3 using internal drives with DRBD and GFS (or
other clustered FS) for the mail storage and ext3 for the root drive.
I'm currently using maildrop for delivery and Dovecot imap/pop3 with
the stores over NFS. I'm looking for better performance but still
keeping the HA element I have now with

First time Dovecot user, really impressed so far. What is best IMAP enabled webmail package to go with Dovecot?
Greetings everyone,
I'm new to the list as of today. I just installed Dovecot a couple of days ago
for the first time, Debian Lenny Dovecot v1.0.15-2.3. So far I'm pretty
impressed. I'm using mbox format with Dovecot auto-deciding to place mail in
user home directories, which is great. It works very well with the Win32
Thunderbird 3 client over a small basic 100FDX switched net.

Mail server setup for small ISP
Hi,
I will probably have to design an e-mail (and other components)
infrastructure for a small ISP soon (WISP).
I'm doing some research to determine which components would be best to
offer e-mail services to their client and allow the staff to manage
accounts easily.
I usually use virtual machines a lot for isolation and easy backups and
migration (when a hardware node is

Calendar and address book with Dovecot
Hi all
I recently install Postfix and Dovecot, and so far so good. My assumption
was that calendar and address book (similar to Gmail calendar or address
book) are part of Dovecot. However I do not see anything concerning them in
any of the docs I have read so far.
What other software (ideally open source, free) do I need in other to have
Calendar and address book so my users can manage their

IMAP-proxy or not with sogo webmail and dovecot backend
We've been collecting some stats to see what kind of benefits
UP/SquirrelMail's IMAP Proxy in for our SOGo webmail users. Dovecot is
running in High-performance mode http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LoginProcess
with authentication caching http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/Caching

Proxy Access (Manager/Secretary) Best Practices?
I've mostly got our dovecot+postfix+SOGo+openldap open source groupware replacement working the way I want it to; we're replacing GroupWise in our organization and I'm thrilled to be doing it. I'm supporting about 1,000 active staff users (and another 6,000 student accounts).
I've got e-mail and calendar sharing working, and it does what it says it will do, but it is (go

horde sync status ?
Hello all,
I had a quick look at the horde site and noticed that
horde is being advertised as, let's say, "smartphone friendly".
Does anyone know if the newest horde version can "talk" to?
smart phones in regards to e-mails ?
In other words, can a user owning a smartphone get his/her
e-mails on it apart from the webpage ?
Thank you,
spyros

GlusterFs - Any new progress reports?
GlusterFs always strikes me as being "the solution" (one day...). It's
had a lot of growing pains, but there have been a few on the list had
success using it already.
Given some time has gone by since I last asked - has anyone got any more
recent experience with it and how has it worked out with particular
emphasis on Dovecot maildir storage? How has version 3 worked out for

Recover botched drdb gfs2 setup .
Hi.
The short story... Rush job, never done clustered file systems before,
vlan didn't support multicast. Thus I ended up with drbd working ok
between the two servers but cman / gfs2 not working, resulting in what
was meant to be a drbd primary/primary cluster being a primary/secondary
cluster until the vlan could be fixed with gfs only mounted on the one
server. I got the single server

Migrating to dovecot from gmail apps
Hi,
I'm considering migrating away from gmail for my (one-man) company, and I'm
trying to decide if dovecot is the right option (I'm committed to
self-hosting). I'm a developer, so happy to do my own tooling if needed.
*Is there currently a good webmail interface to dovecot, or work-in
progress?* If not, would a web interface be out-of-scope for dovecot? I
want to use SAML for

DRBD,GFS2 and GNBD without all clustered cman stuff
Hi all,
Where i want to arrive:
1) having two storage server replicating partition with DRBD
2) exporting via GNBD from the primary server the drbd with GFS2
3) inporting the GNBD on some nodes and mount it with GFS2
Assuming no logical error are done in the last points logic this is the
situation:
Server 1: LogVol09, DRDB configured as /dev/drbd0 replicated to Server 2.
DRBD seems to work

Email/GroupWare Suite
Just wanted to get some thoughts from the list.....
We are a public k-12 school and are looking to migrate to a groupware
style system for out staff to collaborate better. Currently we are using
Squirrelmail/postfix for email. Does anyone have any
recommendations/opinions. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

iSCSI and LVM
Hi Everyone,
I am going to get a storage server which will be connected to my Xen hosts via iSCSI/Ethernet. I wish to use LVM for the DomU disks. The storage server will have a RAID10 array, and 2 Xen hosts will connect to this (Each will have a 50% share of the RAID10 array, space wise).
What is the best way to go about this? Should I:
a) Split the RAID10 array into 2 partition on the

Proxy IMAP/POP/ManageSieve/SMTP in a large cluster enviroment
Hi to all in the list, we are trying to do some tests lab for a large scale
mail system having this requirements:
- Scale to maybe 1million users(Only for testing).
- Server side filters.
- User quotas.
- High concurrency.
- High performance and High Availability.
We plan to test this using RHEL5 and maybe RHEL6.
As a storage we are going to use an HP EVA 8400 FC(8 GB/s)

Significant performance problems
Hi all,
I'm sure my issues are a result of misconfiguration, but I'm hoping
someone can point me in the right direction. I'm getting pressure to
move us back to GroupWise, which I desperately want to avoid :-/
We're running dovecot 1.2.9 on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS+postfix. The server is a
VM with 1 vCPU and 4GB of RAM. We serve about 10,000 users with anywhere
from 500-1000 logged in

mmap in GFS2 on rhel 6.1
Hello list, we continue our tests using Dovecot on a RHEL 6.1 Cluster
Backend with GFS2, also we are using dovecot as a Director for user node
persistence, everything was ok until we started stress testing the solution
with imaptest, we had many deadlocks, cluster filesystems corruptions and
hangs, specially in index filesystem, we have configured the backend as if
they were on a NFS like setup
