Odd "sweep" error on older code
I''ve got a Rails project that has been on the shelf for a few months,
and I''m picking it back up. I''ve frozen Rails at 1.1.4 in vendor/,
and did the "rails ." and "rake rails:update" to get it up to a
current Rails level.
The code initially seems to be working fine, but when I go to my
login method, I get a 500 error thrown. Looking in the

One file open or locked way too many times. How to fix?
A Windows 2000 Server is a member server of the domain. The domain
server is CentOS 4.5 with all updates and Samba 3.0.24 built using the
packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh script. The W2k server is opening this file
on the samba server.
This problem started several versions of CentOS and Samba ago, and I did
the upgrades thinking it would fix it. It did not.
It seems to be "locking" or

Weird problem with script/server, lighttpd, and FreeBSD
I installed lighttpd from ports on my FreeBSD-5 system last night, wanting
to play with that instead of WEBrick for development work.
I installed it, and ran script/server, and got this:
[minter@carlton discostu]$ script/server

=> Rails application started on http://0.0.0.0:3000

here's a fix for Goldmine (and other ISAM database based programs) on Windows NT/2000/XP clients talking to samba
Goldmine seems to a compiled database application compiled in something likeClipper.
Clipper applications record lock through ISAM like files (DBF).
However, in Windows NT/2000/XP, Opportunistic locking is turned on
by default in order to accelerate file transfer from file services.
[Windows 95/98 did not Opportunisticly lock]
However, opportunistic locking corrupts ISAM and ISAM like

Migrating from a legacy Dbase app
All,
My company uses Goldmine as its contact/sales opportunity manager.
(Uses Dbase for it''s DB).
I''m trying to get a Rails app to implement the parts of it we actually use.
I''ve been building my Rails app in MySQL. Now I''m need to start
getting data from Goldmine into my Rails app.
What''s the recommended approach?
A one time transfer of data?

Mount Windows Server Share as drive letter
Hello all,
New to Wine, not so new to Linux but still a newbie.
I need to run my Goldmine software on my Ubuntu machine, so I need to mount the drive letter that I use on my workstation (windows) to the share on my Windows server so that Goldmine can see its database and license file.
I tried pointing the drive letter to the path using SMB://server/share but that does not seem to work.

Time To Pick the Mongrel BUGS Mascot!
Bradley Taylor shot me this *goldmine* of ugly ugly ugly dogs:
http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org/uglydogvote.shtml
I *have* to use one of these for the Mongrel BUGS Mascot. He''ll go on
our bug list page and replace the little beetles on the left.
Pick the dog you think best represents a lovable but defective pooch and
reply to this with your +1.

Libvirt exiting and respawning
Hi,
I'm trying to use Libvirt with LXC, under Ubuntu 11.04, but I can't get it
to work. It keeps exiting and being restarted by upstart. Log file follows.
It appears that it is complaining, among other things, of QEMU. I am not
running QEMU and would like to disable everything except for LXC, but I am
not sure it would fix my issue. I've set the log level to debug, even, but

Should Perl talk to Rails via LWP
Hi folks,
I need your opinions on a basic design issue.
I''ve seen the light of RoR and have replaced my Perl (DBI/CGI) based web
server <-> RDBMS communication with RoR, but I still have a whole host
of users (other servers/OS''s etc) out there wanting to talk to my
RDBMS and they only talk Perl. Also they don''t want to talk Perl/DBI
directly (they are not allowed

Can icecast stream a file from disk?
I'm in a situation where I have some MP3 files I'd like to stream on-
demand, but for various reasons can't just make the MP3 files
themselves available.
Is there a way, using icecast, to set up a server that would just bind
to a port, and stream one file as specified in the config file, then
stop? So somewhere in the icecast.xml, I'd like to say "File: /tmp/

I download by both wget and curl (with -R -O --ssl ) is dated 2013-04-23

Resizing partitions using OCFS?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
We're getting ready to start work with Oracle 9iRAC on Red Hat Advanced Server
2.1. One thing I'm curious about, that I haven't found an answer for in the
docs, is how to handle partition resizing with OCFS.
We have found on our Oracle 8i/Solaris systems that we have the need on
occasion to expand partitions to make room for more

I'm new to this list. Before posting this I tried to search the

been discussed already.

Windows workstations. I have a share containing a CRM-like system with
whole bunch of DB files and Windows executables (GoldMine). People run

locking db corruption with 2.2.5?
Hi,
We are running Samba 2.2.5 on RedHat 7.3 rebuild with ldap support. We
run Win2k Terminal Server, which provides most of the clients for the
samba server.
After a fairly long samba server up time (usually a couple of days, but
this happened overnight), we end up with some odd entries in the
smbstatus output in the "Locked files:" area....
Here is one line of the type I mean:
