BUG in RC10 deliver using mbox format
After recently adding the -f parameter to the call to the deliver command
which is called by Postfix, I found that e-mail with a null return path
(MAIL FROM:<>) was causing Dovecot deliver to SEGFAULT. I verified this
by making this patch to deliver.c (notice I fixed a typo here, too):
*** deliver.c.orig Fri Oct 13 07:32:28 2006

namespaces, shared mailboxes
Hi!
I'd like to provide shared mailboxes with maildir that should appear
like 'Shared/<mailboxname>' to the clients.
Using the namespace configuration below, everything works fine, exept
one thing: Mail clients (only tested with Thunderbird) won't allow to
put mails directly in 'Shared/mailboxname' (the folder it is greyed
out). You currently have to create

What does "a" flag in Maildir format mean?
Here is sample filename from Maildir:
1243423383.M745917P32169.termserv1,W=1295:2,Sa
1) why there is no S=<size> field? It definetely differs from
1295.I've not quota plugin, could it be the reason of this?
2) what does "a" flag mean? I not found any description of this
neither in Maildir spec nor on the Dovecot wiki.

rsync behind NAT
Hi
I use rsync as a client to copy a directory structure from a remote
server, once every month.
Until a few weeks ago, we had direct access to the internet - and the way
it would work is that the guy maintaining the rsync server would add my
machine's IP to an access list and I would run the rsync command from my
machine.
Recently however, our network was 'upgraded' to a NAT

Jails and loopback interfaces
I've got a server running FreeBSD 6.2 and PF. The server has a couple
dozen jails on it. Previously, I had a few "private" services such as
MySQL running on loopback IPs (127.0.0.2+) and the rest of the jails
running on the public IPs.
I have to renumber my machine with a new block of public IPs so I
thought I'd be clever and move all the jails onto loopback IPs. Then

NOTIFY broken in 2.2.31?
Hi,
I just updated my Dovecot to the new build in Fedora 26, which is based
on 2.2.31. After I did that, Evolution (3.24.3) is no longer receiving
notifications about new mail in folders other than inbox (the same
version of Evo that worked fine against Dovecot 2.2.30.2). The only
folder that still gets notifications is inbox.
I see there have been changes to NOTIFY code in this release. What

shared mailboxes using namespaces in 1.2
Hi!
I've been using shared mailbox trees using maildir, unix permissions and
separate namespaces per shared tree since dovecot 1.0.
However now that I've upgraded to 1.2.8, I cannot create subfolders
anymore. The server responds with "NO Invalid mailbox name:
test/testsub". The hierarchy separator for the namespaces is / because I
am mixing maildir and mbox namespaces and

Permission to distribute Dovecot run file
I am working on updating the Shupp toaster, http://shupp.org/toaster/
a set of files and instructions for installing qmail, vpopmail,
qmailadmin and squirrelmail. Two of my most important goals are
switching the imap program from courier to Dovecot, and closer
integration with OpenSuSE. (Which I run my mail servers on.)
To follow the style of the toaster I need a place where I can obtain the

I am using the trees[1] plugin to encrypt the mail on my disk. Because I
don't want it to store any metadata in plaintext, I've also set

However, whenever I get new mail I get errors like the following showing up in the journal:

BlackBerry will not setup my POP3 email, all other mail clients fine
Hello, hoping someone here might be able to help me or at least point me in
the right direction.
My company recently (last week) moved to a new dedicated server for website
and email hosting. It is a fairly run-of-the-mill Linux machine running
cPanel and Dovecot (with the BlackBerry Fastmail service enabled) as a mail
server.
When we first set up the server, I was able to create a mailbox,

Dovecot and data migration
Hi,
Our legacy data store retains a single copy of a message regardless of the
number of mailboxes in which that message resides. It does this by creating
hard links to that message in the mailboxes containing that message.
Thus, when we perform data migration to the server target (Dovecot), the
copies of the same message are copied over with the migration process
(imapsync). We use the storage

Postfix+maildrop+deliver?
Hello,
I currently use procmail without the deliver LDA but would like to switch to
using deliver. I also would like to get away from procmail for various
reasons. Otherwise I could use the procmail-patch from
http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2006-July/014656.html
AFAICS.
I don't want to use sieve because it's too limited and can't see a similar
patch like the one for
