RFI: recommendation for temperature monitoring
Good morning gurus, I would like to get recommendation for monitoring temperature for cpu using Asus P5WD2 motherboard and Intel D 820. I my installation has CPU cooling system changed from Intel bulk to Zalman CNPS9500 and it works. Normal Intel cooling system is not enough and is overheating cpu quite badly. Unfortunately Zalman has to be controlled (rpms) manually and thus I would like to see

Merry Christmas ! and a tiny question
Hi all, I hope You have had nice Christmas Eve. My question: I've updated version 4.4, in that version of Gimp is 2.0.5 and the up-to-date version at Gimp website is 2.2.13 (stable). There seems to be 2.2.8 for FC3 but that's not the newest and thus I don't want to get it. How I should proceed when, - I want the latest stable version, - want to get some optional packages - want to

yum update question and kernel-smp-devel
I have a local yum repository for CentOS4, and from time to time I add new (custom) kernel RPMS. However, when I run 'yum update' on an SMP box, yum 'installs' the new kernel, kernel-devel and kernel-smp packages, but 'updates' the kernel-smp-devel package. i.e. I end up with multiple versions of the kernel, kernel-devel and kernel-smp packages, but only the latest

FATAL: Error inserting ocfs2 (/lib/modules/2.6.16.27-0.6-smp/kernel/fs/ocfs2/ocfs2.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) Okay not sure what is up here, any suggestions? BTW, this is the correct module location and I

[RFI]Is NAT broken with Linux HVM guests?
Hi All, I tried a usual NAT setup with a Linux HVM guest. Looks straight forward approach. Unfortunately I cannot ping even domain0''s eth0 interface. Xen assigns an IP address for me to vif1.0, where 1 is the domid of my HVM guest i.e 10.0.1.128(changes are per vmid and domid). I manually attached ip address 10.0.1.2 to eth0 in HVM domainU and add default gateway to be 10.0.1.128.

kernel-devel largesmp or ELlarge?
I'm having trouble updating my iscsitarget modules, and it seems to be related to a naming convention mixup? here's the output of the build command: [root at vmhost ~]# rpmbuild --rebuild --sign iscsitarget-0.4.14.96-0.amherst.src.rpm Installing iscsitarget-0.4.14.96-0.amherst.src.rpm error: Failed build dependencies: kernel-devel = 2.6.9-42.0.10.ELlarge is needed by

Cleaning up smp kernels
I have used the package-cleanup utility to remove old kernel packages, but I noticed that it only removes the 'kernel' and 'kernel-devel' packages. It does not touch 'kernel-smp', 'kernel-hugemem', etc. What is the recommended method of cleaning up these other kernel packages? Should I just 'yum remove' the ones I don't need? Some of my servers have a

Problems with building a complete kernel
I have a plain vanilla Centos source (not 100% sure where we got it from), but I can't seem to get a build that installs correctly. I tried the method described at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Custom_Kernel, but rpm doesn't like the output file, and even if I install it with -F, nothing seems to happen - no new kernel, now initrd, nothing. When I tried following the directions in the

Upssched 100% CPU after updating Debian 12
Hi, Great work Jim! I?m glad you could reproduce the problem and found a potential culprit. Just for my own interest I restored upsshed from my backups (version 2.7.4-13) and it seems to running ok, so no big runtime changes regarding that with Debian 12. It is not hogging CPU. From the daemon log the heartbeat seems to be working ok. Only difference between the old logs (pre Debian 12 update)
