A Couple Of Issues (APOP Causes Auth SIGSEGV, Umask Setting Ineffective)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm very happy with Dovecot and wish the best for its continued development. It's a true testament to brilliant componentised design and Unix philosophy. Configuration made easy because of the way the file is parsed and a single point of startup make it ridiculously straightforward (and lovely) to administer. But of course, we all

Removing Duplicates
Hi all, I am starting fresh with a local repository of mails, which almost certainly have duplicates in them. I am going to use maildirs, and ensure all mails are input with CRLFs. The question is: does anybody know how I can find and remove duplicates, either while injecting mail with IMAP, or afterward? I can use tools to find duplicate Message-IDs, but don't know of a way to remove

--delete --force Won't Remove Directories With Dotnames
--delete --force Won't Remove Directories With Dotnames rsync 2.6.9 Me, personally, I reckon this to be an irritant ... but perhaps (and having thought about this a bit I decided it's a good chance) this is an intentional and useful behaviour. But it's a nuisance if you call your --partial-dir .partial, as I happen to do, since now if you remove a directory which was aborted in

Rsync 2.6.9 Develops Conflict Between --stats, I think --delete-after and Local Filesystem Replication
Hi all, Well, yeah, that's it, really. :-) Try it. Works consistently, on Doze and Linux here ... # rsync -vvrlHSPtiypogD --stats --numeric-ids --delete-after --force -- partial-dir=.partial /tmp/ /var/tmp/ [...show stats...] unknown message 4:1 [generator] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(307) [generator=2.6.9] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (26

Debian Unstable Packages
Hi all, Speaking of Debian, what relative position are the Debian Unstable (Sid) packages in to the latest "Bleeding edge" builds of RCS-based releases from the Wiki? If using Unstable is it recommended to stay or use the newer ones? I'd say it was production, yes, but I'm forgiving of problems in the latest releases, so long as they aren't meant to be beta (i.e., known

Slightly OT: iPhone & IMAP IDLE
Hi all, Does anybody know whether iPhone is supposed to be able to do IMAP IDLE? I know it does "Push" but that seems to be using Apple's Mobile Me and Exchange. [info] Spamcop listing
Smtp1.song.fi and smtp2.song.fi, our list servers, seem to have gotten listed in the bl.spamcop.net RBL. Spamcop listings are temporary and will time out, and because of occasional major false positives (or perhaps collateral damage?) like this I don't use it to reject mail. Anyone who IS using Spamcop to reject mail has missed much of today's list traffic. -- mail to this

question about dovecot imap outlook clients
Hello, Well... thanks to the input of all of you I have my dovecot->ldap connection working for almost all of my clients, however... on outlook, a message for certificates being trusted comes up, the user clicks yes and connection fails. Questions: Do I have to get an ssl certificate to make it work? ( cost ouch!) Is there a way around this using my own self-signed certificates? Is there

Pegasus Mail 4.41 OK With Dovecot
Pegasus Mail 4.41 is an excellent client on Windows. It works fine with both Dovecot IMAP and POP3 (APOP, IMAP LOGIN commands only - no SASL). Responds to async events. Supports IMAP STARTTLS. Does not use IDLE - periodic CHECKs. Fast and sensible header caches, light on resources. Offline mode, but read-only, using cache (prefetch options available if body caching enabled, it's not

Migrating from Cyrus to Dovecot
Hi, we are migrating from Cyrus 2.3.7 to Dovecot 2.2.13. We have ~7000 maildirs with ~500GB. Our goal is to do the migration without users have notice and with the shortest service downtime. The users use IMAP (with shared folders and ACL), POP3 and sieve filters. As a first choice, we tried the Dovecot's dsync tool. First tests were great, but we are not able to change the Cyrus auth

piegonhole sieve prepending header lines with an extra space
Hi, I've noticed that the redirect sieve extension is placing an extra space before the headers of email when the 'redirect' command is used. Unfortunately this break gmail, yahoo, and most other email programs. I am using pigeonhole 0.4.0-14 with Dovecot 2.2.4.3; I see change 1781:e439789e3211 but it appears to only change how the X-Sieve header is generated. I only have the one

LDA Problem
Hi I'm having a problem with dovecot deliver. I'm using a dovecot version 1.0.beta8. As I am using a chrooted (/var/spool/postfix) postfix (version: 2.2.10) with cyrus-sasl authentification (all working). Postfix config is changed according to the http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA: main.cf: mailbox_command = dovecot master.cf: dovecot unix - n n - - pipe

[xmail] XMail + Dovecot
What, exactly, is the problem? How do you want Dovecot and XMail to work together? I am setting up Dovecot to read from standard Maildirs in user home directories, because I am using a separate delivery agent (TMDA but would work for maildrop, Dovecot's deliver program and others) to deliver mails using mailproc.tab. So, even while XMail runs as root, Dovecot need not and there is no

1.0-test58
http://dovecot.org/test/ - Fixed APPEND hanging in some situations. Didn't happen with mail_save_crlf=yes. - Added pop3_uidl_format setting. No need to patch sources anymore if you don't want the default. Does anyone want pop3_uidl_xuidl_header yes/no setting, with fallbacking to pop3_uidl_format if X-UIDL header isn't found? Shouldn't be difficult to do.. - Added

Messages does not appear in OE6
Hi List! I have an issue with dovecot: Outlook express users sometimes can't see some emails (they are not even listed) that can be seen with other IMAP clients, I tested it (and it works) with Evolution, Outlook and SquirrelMail (a web mail). Please note that this is not the client bug reported at http://dovecot.org/clients.html with the message: "Message is no longer available on

Mails don't get deleted after POP3
Hi, there! Well, I am new to dovecot, so please be patient with me: I have a virtual server and want to setup simple mail delivery. postfix, saslauthd and dovecot basically work fine. The only open issue is, that (I guess) dovecot doesn't remove the mail when it's retrieved via pop3 from the server. It keeps sending me the same emails again and again. (The mail client (Thunderbird) is

1.0 roadmap
I've read about one month back this list's messages. I've still 216 messages from this year marked as "unread" which I should look into more (+258 older ones). Also I've 180 "unread" messages in my INBOX also which might contain something useful. So those messages could still contain something that should be added to this list. Anyway looking at my current

Message parser loops on certain messages (e.g. with a trailing CR character)
Hi, dovecot's message parser enters an endless loop when fed with certain multipart messages with stray CR characters. parse_next_body_to_boundary() assumes the '\r' might be the beginning of a boundary line, reducing the block size by one: src/lib-mail/message-parser.c: 404 /* no linefeeds in this block. we can just skip it. */ 405 ret = 0; 406

Allowing tilde at start of mailbox names
In lib-storage/index/maildir/maildir-storage.c maildir_is_valid_create_name() and maildir_is_valid_existing_name() the following sequence of tests appear but I don't really understand why if ((storage->flags & MAIL_STORAGE_FLAG_FULL_FS_ACCESS) != 0) return TRUE; if (*name == '~' || strchr(name, '/') != NULL) return FALSE; If MAIL_STORAGE_FLAG_FULL_FS_ACCESS is
