A Couple Of Issues (APOP Causes Auth SIGSEGV, Umask Setting Ineffective)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm very happy with Dovecot and wish the best for its continued development. It's a true testament to brilliant componentised design and Unix philosophy. Configuration made easy because of the way the file is parsed and a single point of startup make it ridiculously straightforward (and lovely) to administer. But of course, we all

[info] Spamcop listing
Smtp1.song.fi and smtp2.song.fi, our list servers, seem to have gotten listed in the bl.spamcop.net RBL. Spamcop listings are temporary and will time out, and because of occasional major false positives (or perhaps collateral damage?) like this I don't use it to reject mail. Anyone who IS using Spamcop to reject mail has missed much of today's list traffic. -- mail to this

--delete --force Won't Remove Directories With Dotnames
--delete --force Won't Remove Directories With Dotnames rsync 2.6.9 Me, personally, I reckon this to be an irritant ... but perhaps (and having thought about this a bit I decided it's a good chance) this is an intentional and useful behaviour. But it's a nuisance if you call your --partial-dir .partial, as I happen to do, since now if you remove a directory which was aborted in

question about dovecot imap outlook clients
Hello, Well... thanks to the input of all of you I have my dovecot->ldap connection working for almost all of my clients, however... on outlook, a message for certificates being trusted comes up, the user clicks yes and connection fails. Questions: Do I have to get an ssl certificate to make it work? ( cost ouch!) Is there a way around this using my own self-signed certificates? Is there

utility to copy/sync IMAP mailboxes
Well, my Dovecot server (v2.0.8) is up and running, and now it's time to migrate mailboxes from the old mail server [Lotus Domino Release 5.0.8] running on Windows NT 4.0 [ancient -- been the mail server since Aug-2000]. I saw "dsync(1)" and thought my troubles were over. Only I can't figure out how to make it work with the NT/Domino server as a source for mailboxes. I guess

Rsync 2.6.9 Develops Conflict Between --stats, I think --delete-after and Local Filesystem Replication
Hi all, Well, yeah, that's it, really. :-) Try it. Retrieving POP mail from server to server
I need to transfer a client's email inbox from another mail server to our mail server (Centos 5). This is needed once only (or maybe a couple of times). What is the best command-line tool? Fetchmail? I did this once before, with another tool, but have forgotten. - Jussi -- Jussi Hirvi * Green Spot Topeliuksenkatu 15 C * 00250 Helsinki * Finland Tel. +358 9 493 981 * Mobile +358 40 771

mail_save_crlf Semantics
Hi, It's not clear from the configuration when CR/LF conversion happens with mail_save_crlf set. Does this only happen with appends, or do all mails handled by Dovecot always get converted when opened? Debian Unstable Packages
Hi all, Speaking of Debian, what relative position are the Debian Unstable (Sid) packages in to the latest "Bleeding edge" builds of RCS-based releases from the Wiki? If using Unstable is it recommended to stay or use the newer ones? I'd say it was production, yes, but I'm forgiving of problems in the latest releases, so long as they aren't meant to be beta (i.e., known

Slightly OT: iPhone & IMAP IDLE

Per-folder (per-mailbox) message expiration with control from client side — is it possible?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 I'm migrating from ?old skool? solution with one mail client (MUA) on one computer, which retrieves mail via POP3, sorts it and manages it locally to installation when there are several MUAs on different devices, accessing mail via IMAP4, and all sorting and management should be server-side. Sorting is ?easy?: sieve. Here are some nuisance

Migrating from CommunigatePro to Dovecot - anyone done this?
Apologies if this is in the archive - did look but couldn't find it. Does anyone have any experience of migrating from CommunigatePro to Dovecot? We currently run CGP 5.3.4, supporting a small system (20 or so users, one domain). We've been using it for years, and have a mixed bag of MailDir and mbox folders accessed via IMAP clients. Some users have large mail accounts (15GB total).

Eliminating duplicate photos
I've seen fslint and fdupes recommended for this in CentOS, but neither seem to be available as packages. Is anyone using either under CentOS-5.6? It seems that they are available in the rpmfusion-free repository, but as far as I can see this is not functioning with CentOS at present. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of

Avoiding transferring duplicate files
Hi All, I have a 75GB collection of data, including a lot of duplicated files, on a NTFS network drive. I want to backup that data across a DSL link to a Linux host. Currently I use cwrsync on a Windows machine to act as server to the Linux rsync client. I want to avoid transferring duplicated data, as the DSL link is a far more significant factor than computation/disk IO. I can't work

Pegasus Mail 4.41 OK With Dovecot
Pegasus Mail 4.41 is an excellent client on Windows. It works fine with both Dovecot IMAP and POP3 (APOP, IMAP LOGIN commands only - no SASL). Responds to async events. Supports IMAP STARTTLS. Does not use IDLE - periodic CHECKs. Fast and sensible header caches, light on resources. Offline mode, but read-only, using cache (prefetch options available if body caching enabled, it's not

Log authentication attempts
We alse have same problem, now we are running Dovecot 2.2.30.2 and also use Dovecot SASL for SMTP authentication (postfix 2.11). We need to save all failed login attempts to database as source IP address, username and date and time but post-login script can do this but only after successful login. Failed login attempts information may be useful in the fight with bruteforce attacks. It's

cross-subvolume cp --reflink
Glück Auf! I know its been discussed more then ones, but as a user I really would like to see the patch for allowing this in the kernel. Some users tested this patch successfully for weeks or months in 2 or 3 kernel versions since then, true? I''d say by creating a snapshot, it''s nothing else in the end. More then one file or tree sharing the same data on disc, or am I wrong?
