POP3 how do I either retrieve spam or never put mail in spam?
I retrieve my mail from dovecot over POP3. Sometimes dovecot delivers a message into the spam mailbox, even though I have no spam filtering enabled. I can't find anything in the wiki about "other" mailboxes and POP3. I want to either never deliver mail in any mailbox other than my default inbox, or be able to retrieve mail over POP3 from those other mailboxes. How do I do

Woodpeckers Revisited
Just when I thought I couldn't be wrong, I was wrong. We have woodpeckers that drill into the arial telephone cables, and water seeps through the holes and partially grounds the tip and/or ring wires causing hum. I thought the hum/buz on my lines was a telco problem. The Qwest HQ noise team assures me that my lines are within spec. Sure enough, when I listen on the test set the lines

Blacklist IP after 2 failed PPTP connection attempts
I am running shorewall 1.4.8-1 on my firewall. I am also running poptop on this firewall for remote VPN clients to connect to our local network. I would like to set some options in pppd, so that after 2 failed user/pass attempts are tried, the IP address is blacklisted, and an email is sent to the admin of this IP address that has been blacklisted. I know this may be more of a ppp question than

Hi Folks, the reason: new printer HP LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP This printer needs a non-free plugin. On my 64-bit machine with CentOS 5.5 the installation via hplip-3.11.1.run and hplip-3.11.1.plugin.run works perfectly (except scanning - but that's not the problem at the moment). On my second machine - CentOS 5 32-bit I have many problems and printing doesn't works. 1. Installation

SSH login attempts: tcpdump packet capture
I got a packet capture of one of the SSH2 sessions trying to log in as a couple of illegal usernames. The contents of one packet suggests an attempt to buffer overflow the SSH server; ethereal's SSH decoding says "overly large value". It didn't seem to work against my system (I see no strange processes running; all files changed in past ten days look normal). I am

Possible bug? scp attempts to forward ports...
I've been having a recurring problem using ssh and then scp. I've got 2 machines, client A and server B. I'm using OpenSSH on both. I've got a port-forward from server B in client A's "~/.ssh/config" file. Normally I login to server B via ssh from client A. With this session open (and a port forwarded) sometimes I go to a different terminal on client A and

Logging failed login attempts (version 3.7.1p2)
Is it possible to configure sshd (version 3.7.1p2, in my case) to log all failed login attempts? I've messed around with various syslog.conf settings and I've modified the sshd_config file to "UseLogin yes", assuming this may be required in order to leverage the /etc/default/login settings used by telnet. Nothing has worked, so far. For auditing purposes, I've been asked

Logging failed attempts to correct usernames
[ using FreeBSD 8.2, but I don't think the problem is specific to their port ] For fail2ban purposes I'd like to log failed SSH authentication attempts of correct (i.e., existing) usernames. I have no issue with the logging of authn attempts to non-existing usernames. I've tried to set LogLevel=VERBOSE and MaxAuthAttempts=1 in sshd_config, but even then I didn't see

Logging of failed publickey authentication attempts
Hello list, I'd like to monitor failed publickey authentication attempts to my OpenSSH server and noticed that they're not logged (even in VERBOSE logging mode). Doing some digging, I found this 8 year old bug: https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=974 Apparently, that issue was already known eight years ago and a patch is even attached -- but it never made it into mainline?

IAX2 attempts native bridge when notransfer=yes
This comment comes up fairly regularly and is confusing people. Why doesn't it say that it failed so we know? The way it is now it kind of leaves you hanging there and you don't know if the transfer happened or not. And why was it even attempted if it is obvious that transfer is off? (I know it can depend on the remote side.) -----Original Message----- From:

Help with dial plan - two attempts at calling agent before logging agent off?
Hi List, I'm attempting to set up a queue and agents using agent call back. This is all working fine with the queue and the agents login etc However. In my dial plan I a set variable when a call is entered into the queue to identify the origin of the call, then when the agent is called I test to see if the call is from the queue. If it is, the dial plan does not go to VM if the
