IMAP creates .userid directory even after pop.
We are currently running dovecot-1.0.10 on Solaris 10 x86. Several users has noticed that they get different emails when using pop vs using IMAP. When I check a user's home directory, I find the following situation: /nfs/mail/1/1/hiro.11/mail/: drwx------ 6 176785 1000 512 Mar 21 07:53 . drwxr-xr-x 3 176785 1000 512 Feb 29 17:01 .. drwx------ 5 176785 1000

Transitioning away from mail_location = maildir:~
Hi, I have been using this setup for years: mail_home = /var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n mail_location = maildir:~ I have since learned that mail_home and mail_location should be different. I plan to use this: mail_home = /var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n mail_location = maildir:~/mail I would like the transition to be transparent for my email clients. I don't want mail/directories/sieve_scripts to

Mailboxes not showing up in MS Outlook
Sat, 19 Jul 2014 15:03:03 -0400 I am not sure exactly where the problem is here. I am using a sieve script that sorts various incoming messages into their own mailbox. MS Outlook does not show those folders if they are not directly under INBOX. EXAMPLE: drwx------ 31 vmail vmail 1.0K 2014-07-19 14:46:55 EDT ./ drwx------ 3 vmail vmail 512B 2014-07-02 13:52:03 EDT ../ drwx------ 5

file_dotlock_create(~/.dovecot.lda-dupes) failed: No such file or directory
Hi, I am having some problems with my vacation messages using dovecot. The mail is send without problems, and the auto-respond is working as well. But its always auto-responding, because the lda-dupes file can't be created. See mail log below: Nov 16 13:43:03 mail003 postfix/smtpd[6501]: connect from mail-bw0-f211.google.com[209.85.218.211] Nov 16 13:43:03 mail003 postfix/smtpd[6501]:

Cannot delete folder
Assuming '8' = mail, i cannot see anything wrong here... Can you turn on 'mail_debug=yes' and attempt folder deletion, and check logs after that? Cannot delete folder
I guess you have had different version(s) or setting(s) in the past, and you can probably fix this by setting perms to same as the new folders. Having trouble getting Dovecot to read a ~/Maildir configuration
Hi folks Setting up a new server, hence a few software packages have been upgraded / changed. On my old server (only 2 years old) I was using Dovecot and RoundCube (web mail app) and had a good experience so was keen to use these again. The only major change is I have switched from sendmail to exim4 (which was installed by default on this Debian server). Exim4 appears to be doing the right

Virtual folder root cannot be opened, virtual folders ok
I am running dovecot 1.2.16 and not able to figure out an error that happens whenever I select the root of a virtual mailbox tree. At the moment I have a simple maildir store, accessed via IMAP, and have successfully added a virtual fs namespace with two subdirectories. I have created dovecot-virtual entries in the subdirs and they are working fine; they show the expected messages, etc. My

Strange permission problem with Maildir
I have this very strange problem with Dovecot spitting out a file permissions error but further testing seems to show it being an inaccurate message.
