Multiple identities
Hi, I recently moved from courier-imap to dovecot, to be able to work with managesieve. I use version 1.2.5, on suse 10.3. I used the script to migrate the courier maildir to dovecot format. It seems to work fine except for one problem : I use a number of aliasses and with Thunderbird I can select which alias (e-mail-address) to use as my identity when sending a mail. I sniffed with wireshark,

How to see if sieve is active ?
Hi, I think I activated sieve, but it's doing nothing. I know manage-sieve works so I made some rules. But they do nothing. I ran sieve-test, which seems to work, but does not move the mail I test. Is this how it works ? I thought the -e parameter just "tested" the rules and did nothing and my command was supposed to do the "real thing". I read there should be a log. I

Virtual NICs (aliases like eth0:1) won't come up after reboot
With one problem down I still have another remaining. Since the installation of our primairy webserver we have had a problem with the network aliasses. Our server has 8 IP adresses so we used the tool provided in the GUI to specify (and name - for our own convinience) eth0 aliasses with the other 7 adresses. After setting them up, applying them, activating them and restarting

warning: pipe flag `D' requires dovecot_destination_recipient_limit = 1
I'm getting this message, which looks like Postfix is the one logging it, but I don't know where it comes from or which configuration it needs to be placed in. Anyone know what this means? May 26 13:13:28 eth0 postfix/pipe[13821]: warning: pipe flag `D' requires dovecot_destination_recipient_limit = 1

Configuring for virtual users in Postfix
FreeBSD-7.2 with Postfix-2.7x OK, this is my first attempt to configure Dovecot using Postfix and virtual users. In the LDA.Postfix.txt file, there is a reference to making the following setting: dovecot_destination_recipient_limit = 1 virtual_mailbox_domains = your.domain.here virtual_transport = dovecot However, Postfix does not recognize the dovecot_destination_recipient_limit = 1 setting.

feature request/reminder - alias / bootsector
HPA, a longterm reminder. See below. Can you also make a LABEL ignore other labels if no KERNEL statement is found in between? That way you could define multiple aliasses for an entry. label foo label bar label memtest kernel memtestp foo ignores 'label bar' , 'label memtest' and executes 'kernel memtest' bar ignores 'label memtest' and executes 'kernel

Internal Error form delivery from LDAP lookup.
Solaris-x86-10u8 Dovecot-1.2.7 Large mail setup, with quite a few MX servers working well. Generally everything is super. But every now and then, we get "bouts of bad weather" - which only lasts a short time, and curiously nearly always occur when mail is sent to customer mailing lists. I suspect mostly because of that 1 message has multiple recipients within the same domain.

dict quota not being updated for all users when receiving a multi-recipient message
I've set up a mysql quota dictionary using the proxy setup as described in the wiki (using Dovecot lda). When I send a single message to multiple users, only the first recipient is getting their usage updated. This behavior occurs if I manually send to more than one user via the To: line, or via aliases set up in postfix. I do have dovecot_destination_recipient_limit set to 1. I

dovecot sieve confusion
Hi... I use dovecot with postfix. For dovecot's sieve plugin to work, do I need to put in my /etc/postfix/master.cf: dovecot unix - n n - - pipe flags=DRhu user=vmail:vmail argv=/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d ${recipient} and postconf -e virtual_transport=dovecot postconf -e dovecot_destination_recipient_limit=1 ?

dovecot as lda : nothing happens
Hi, On debian lenny, I try to configure my setup (with Postfix virtual domains) to use dovecot as lda. I adjusted my settings to postfix and dovecot, but nothing happens... The dovecot.log is always empty and nothing seems to change, as if it had no effect. Here are my changes, if someone sees what would be problematic ... Thanks Denis main.cf ###### virtual_transport = dovecot

Question about policies [OT?]
Hi, I'm using samba 3 as a domain controller. For some XP-pro laptops I would like to disable the firewall when they are logged in on our network (I don't like it but I have to). Is this possible with Windows policies ? If so, does someone know about good reading material about policies ? I do have "Mastering Windows XP professional" but that's absolutely no help. Thanks

pdf-printer
Hi, I recently migrated from samba3 to samba4. On the samba3 server I had a "printer" that converted pcl6 to pdf. I tried to make a similar printer in samba4, but it's not working. Not working means the printed document is nowhere to be found. This is the section in smb.conf : [papyrusPDF] comment = Papyrus-to-PDF printer path = /var/spool/samba # guest ok = Yes

Slow connection
Hi, Last week I discovered that my samba-server seems rather slow. When I searched around I discovered that I wasn't the only one experiencing this, but I didn't find a solution. I experimented a little, and I hope someone can suggest a solution. First my server : SuSE 8.1, with Samba 2.2.5 (comes with the distribution). From a WinME-client I uploaded a 160Mb file to the samba-server.

Client behaviour with sieve
Hi, I have a working dovecot imap-server, with sieve. I find it odd that my mail-clients (Thunderbird 2 and 3) don't report anything that's new in the folders. What I mean is this : Postfix get's a mail and hands it over to dovecot's LDA and sieve moves it to a folder. When I log in with Thunderbird, I see new messages in my Inbox. But that message that was moved to a folder is

Two samba's not playing together
Hi, I just tried to migrate my NT-PDC to samba-3.0.20b. Everything worked fine except for a problem with my old file-server running samba-2.2.5 with winbind. I can connect to and use shares on the new PDC and I can manage users and groups. But when I try to connect to the file-server I'm refused access. When I prepared this mail, I remarked that in smb.conf I somehow deleted the

Archiving mail
Hi, I'm going to migrate my company-mailserver to new hardware. I would like to take the opportunity to archive some older mail. But I would like to have it still accessible, would this be possible with dovecot ? I mean, I would like to put that older mail from different users (I got about 50 users) on some read-only media but mount that media in the users mail-dirs. That way I will have
