sieve and fileinto encoding
Hello All!
I`m using dovecot 1.2.6
I have folder named in russian "????", and when in filter i wrote:
fileinto "????";
all works well.
Now i find 2 web applications to manage sieve filters (horde-ingo and
squirrelmail/avelsieve) - then creates filter like this:
if header :contains "Subject" "????"
{
fileinto "&BCEEEAQfBB8-";
stop;

dovecot vs. Thunderbird
Hello (and Moin Moin) ;)
I have currently a straith Problem ...
I have our IMAP-Server migrated from an old cyrus the the current stable
Version of dovecot.
In the old configuration we organized many mails (e.g. root-Stuff) in
Public Folders. They structure had nearly 5 folderlevels.
After the complete migration an syncronize we switch complete to the
dovecot setup.
At this moment we have

Synology NAS is shutting down Ubuntu servers after very brief power outage (fwd)
Ok guys,
So we just had a storm roll through and of course we lost power for just a split second. This time I was actually home for it. Sure enough, the servers shutdown and wouldn’t boot all the way up until I restarted my Synology. I grep’d the syslog and here’s the results:

Ok, so just a follow-up to my last email; still following that guide, which is great…. Just stuck on getting the nut-server service starting automatically. Got everything else working. I’ve been able to get the nut-client starting up automatically at boot up (I had a missing “1” in upsmon.conf. Oooops!) However, I cannot get nut-server service to start-up automatically still.

For directory permissions, the "x" priv determines if you can access the directory, so going from 555 (r-x,r-x,r-x) to 640 (rw-,r--,---) pretty much locks out access to the dir. Myself, I'd go back to 555. 640 essentially locks the group "nut" out . . .

AUTH PLAIN error with Thunderbird and Dovecot 1.2
Hi,
a few days ago I started to get some complaints about authentication
delays from Thunderbird POP3 users. After some debugging it turned out
that the problem was introduced somewhere between 1.2rc3 and 1.2rc7
(1.2.0 is still affected).
A session with Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 against 1.2rc3 looks like this:

>>> CAPA
<<< +OK

dovecot auth is case insensitive, but fs is sensitive :)
others have found this problem ?
this possible bug can be used by user in that way that one password
login can use 2 maildirs in filesystem effitively give them all space
qoutas and lost of other goodies
so to speak:
foo at example.com with a password can login with fOO at example.com and
fOo at example.com
add more chars to get more mailbox :/
confirms ?

Hi Roger,
I am not home, but when I do get home I will check out everything you've
mentioned. I do have some time where I can give you a breakdown of my
topology though. I have a feeling all of this is probably due to a
configuration error somewhere on my part. Here's what I have done so far.

one of the folders I get a dialog with the following "The current
command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Target mailbox
doesn't allow inferior mailboxes." I am running dovecot version
1.0.13-6.fc8 under Fedora 8. The output of dovecot -n is below;

Thunderbird or Dovecot causing duplicates
Hey everyone, back on the list after a few years away.
I have a strange issue that is just annoying. Trying to work out if
it's Dovecot or Thunderbird causing the problem.
Basically, I read an email (so it gets marked as read) and then very
quickly I mark is as unread, (i.e. I realised I want to leave that
email for later) which causes a duplicate email to be created.
Generally I believe both

Could you also grep for upsd and upsmon in the NAS log? Is this possible?

Dovecot Sieve Vacation Messages
I'm using a Postfix, Dovecot, MySQL setup with virtual domains. I have mail
being delivered through Dovecot LDA working 100%. I'm trying to use sieve to
handle vacation messages but dovecot is not reading the .dovecot.sieve file
in the users maildir. I have a hunch it has to do with my dovecot-sql query
but have had no success with what I found in the forums from Googling.

POP3 and AVG
Is anyone running v 1.2.3 and have clients with AVG email scanning?
I upgraded a server a few weeks ago (which ran Dovecot and the Maildir
mail store), and all of a sudden clients with AVG were unable to use
POP. Essentially, AVG freezes. The server upgrade was from FreeBSD 7
to OpenSolaris 2009.06, and I did upgrade the Dovecot version from
1.1.17 to 1.2.3, but kept the same config.

lock files causing time outs with Thunderbird
I have dovecot 1.1.16 running on Solaris 10. We are seeing problem with
lock files taking forever to be removed after opening a email folder
like Trash with several thousand messages in them. We use mbox format.
All users inbox's are local to the mail server, and all other users mail
folders are stored on a separate file server mounted via NFS. I see no
problems with the NFS mounts.

dovecot cloning mails?
Hi,
I have a strange issue here. I have a large message of a svn commit and the
message is cloning itself more and more. I've deleted it several time
completely but it doesn't go away.

How can I debug it?
Thanks,
