Disconnected: Too many invalid IMAP commands
Using current Apple mail 4.5 as client to Dovecot 2.0.13 I see lots of these messages in the log file for one machine and account. Near as I can tell, the client still works (it's mine), but, the messages concern me. Is there some known issue with Apple mail, or, if not, how to capture the information needed to debug? Sample log entires for my user matching on the message: Aug 20 16:28:36

disconnect after too many errors?
There are a couple of jerks that are tying to dictionary attack my email server, and one of the vectors is pop3/imap logins. Something I would like to do in dovecot, but can't seem to find, is the ability to disconnect after a certain number of errors. The vast majority of my users (i.e. me) don't hand-type POP3 or IMAP transactions, but when we do, we know how to spell things

Dovecot connection problem - Too many invalid commands (no auth attempts) - v2.0.19
Hello. This might be a silly problem, but I'm a bit a newbie at this, and the internet didn't give me a solution to this yet. I installed a mail server with postfix, dovecot, postfixadmin and a mysql DB for authentification, using this tutorial : <http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-doveco t-mysql/>

LoadBalancing on many asimetric different dsl''s.
Hi, my company have just bought new network and I have question about one problem. As in topic we must use few completely different dsl''s and balance traffic between them. 2M/0,5M 4Mb/0,5M 8M/0,5M M=Mb/s I''ve never done such thing before so I have doubts how it will work. If the links are symmetric 2/2 4/4 8/8 there is no problem because with weights I can compensate the

Gluster rebalance taking many years
Hi, This value is an ongoing rough estimate based on the amount of data rebalance has migrated since it started. The values will cange as the rebalance progresses. A few questions: 1. How many files/dirs do you have on this volume? 2. What is the average size of the files? 3. What is the total size of the data on the volume? Can you send us the rebalance log? Thanks, Nithya On 30

VM differences between CentOS and current vanilla
After running into some VM problems with the new CentOS 4.4 kernel, which I suspect are VMWare related, I built 2.6.16.29 using the FC5 .config file for 2.6.15 and "make oldconfig". It seems to have resolved the "page allocation failure" problem. But I find its behavior to be a bit odd. This is a 4GB system. min_free_kb is at the default, which is 3841. So I would expect

Too many "too many errors"
Let me explain more of my testing. I take the same laptop (a cheap compaq). I point winamp at my icecast server, which is one hop away (frame relay T1). After 30-40 min I get stuttering and eventual disconnect. I point same winamp on same laptop to random icecast server(s). It's fine for more than 2 hours, at a higher bitrate even. (I am broadcasting at 40kb, I tested rates at 96 and 128kb.)

Too many "too many errors"
I have a patch that will fix your stuttering problem, apply to version 1.3.10. In src/sock.c line 533, replace the original line (return n;) with this: return (t==0) ? n : t; This will not help you if your client is legitimately not able to receive data fast enough, but should correct the stuttering. If you want more information, or a "proper" patch, let me know. Mark $
