How to make fully working samba backup/migration?
Hello, how to correctly make full and fully working samba backup? I read articles and newsgroups seeing how many people failed because something was forgotten to be copied or saved and restored/merged. Usually password and user accounts does not work. What I found is most people copy: /etc/samba the smarter copy also: /home geeks knows they should also copy: /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/groups

Dovecot 2.3.8 - How to force index creation for user/mailbox?
Hello, I'm using maildirs, and I have problems with big mailboxes (~ 20000 emails, 30-50GB) - sometimes access to such mailbox takes very long (~10 minutes), I would like to be able to create index for mailbox in background, but I couldn't find any way to do it. So far I tried: *doveadm -D -vvv index -u user 'Folder' * But even if this folder have no dovecot.index* files - I

Dovecot 2.3.8 - How to force index creation for user/mailbox?
Thanks, but both commands didn't create dovecot.index. Only when I open folder with IMAP client, the dovecot.index is created. wt., 3 gru 2019 o 18:16 Aki Tuomi <aki.tuomi at open-xchange.com> napisa?(a): > > > On 03/12/2019 18:30 Tomek Lutelmowski via dovecot <dovecot at dovecot.org> > wrote: > > > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm using

Dovecot 2.3.8 - How to force index creation for user/mailbox?
Neither of dovecot.index files are created (.cache, .log, .thread) - these files are created when I open the folder with IMAP client. When mailbox is not used for long time, the indexing takes very long time. So I'm looking for any solution (preferably with doveadm) to manually reindex folders in background. wt., 3 gru 2019 o 20:23 Aki Tuomi <aki.tuomi at open-xchange.com> napisa?(a):

Dovecot 1.0.3: LDA + quota plugin
I have problem with quota limit settings for "deliver" - global plugin settings overrides userdb quota setting !!! imap and pop3 works fine. Quota limit for user is set to "quota=maildir:ignore=Kosz:storage=512". And "maildirsize" file in user's mail_location contains "524288S" line - good. But when I set: ---------------- plugin { quota =

sieve vacation alias handling problem
Hi, I am using Dovecot LDA as LMTP renders envelope extension unusable. The problem I have noticed is that when user has multiple aliases sieve responds to all of them, not only to :addresses specified. >From testing it seems that :addresses only adds addresses to the list of "known" emails to check against. It is not limiting it. As I understand, sieve should check if To: header

How to debug slow operation
Hello, I am no programmer at all. I have dovecot set up on two very similar machines. On one of the boxes, the dovecot server has recently been showing slower response times. It feels slower. Where it is slower, dovecot works as an auth server for postfix. I have replaced exim with postfix on that box and I think since then dovecot started to slow down. On the other machine the MTA is exim.

200 pop3-login processes
Dear all, I am using dovecot 1.0.0 and have only 5 pop3 users. However, I have counted over 200 pop3-loging processes. I just wonder if it is normal for dovecot (has been running maybe for 2-3 weeks after installing the stable verion). Thanks! -- Zbigniew Szalbot
