centos6 filesystem size limit
I just read the rhel6 filesystem size limit.
http://www.redhat.com/rhel/compare/
It says 16TB limit for ext4 (same as ext3)?!?! I thought ext4 was
supposed to support 1EB ( ~ 1 million TB) limit. That was one of the
main advantages of rhel6. After a little more digging all I found was
that the user space formatting tools (mkfs.ext4) only support 32bit
filesystems (not 48bits). I'm surprised

Dovecot performance on GFS clustered filesystem
Hello All,
We are using Dovecot 1.1.3 to serve IMAP on a pair of clustered Postfix
servers which share a fiber array via the GFS clustered filesystem.
This all works very well for the most part, with the exception that
certain operations are so inefficient on GFS that they generate
significant I/O load and hurt performance. We are using the Maildir
format on disk. We're also using

Problem joing a W2KSP1 client to a Samba PDC (2.2.5).
Hi,
I'am running a small samba server at work with 10+ users in the domain (all
of them added with W2KSP1 and 2.2.3 or 2.2.4). I uppgraded to 2.2.5 a while
back and has not experienced any problem with it, but when I try to add a
newly installed W2KSP1 client to the domain I get the following entries in
the log file:

comparisons
I converted the 128kbps tom.mp3 file into a .wav and then used oggenc -m 2
to
laterally encode it to 128kbps tommy.ogg format. I noticed that it gets very
close to the size of an mp3, great job guys. Then I got to thinking that
maybe it could be compressed further with gzip so I tried it. I also gzipped
the mp3 to compare and it looks like the mp3 gzips better but gzipping the
ogg file will get

graph margins
Hello All,
I am drawing a graph having 18 small graphs inside using par(mfrow = c(6,3))
command. My problem is how to specify the margins of the whole 18 graphs. I
used par(mar=c(6.5, 6.5, 1.5, 1.5)) for each graph separately already but it
does not left any margins for the 'mtext()' for the margins of the whole 18
graphs. Any comments please.
Thanks,

NFS exporting a GFS mount point
Hello,
I have a storage offering some 11 TB of space. I'd happily use ext3
and NFS export to 4 client machines, but 8 TB seems to be the tested
maximum. I'd really like one mount point for the whole 11 TB. Since
GFS offers lock_nolock option for local mounting, I'm assuming it's not
so out of line to NFS export this GFS mount point.
Thoughts and inputs appreciated.

Fsck, parent transid verify failed
Hi folks!
Been using btrfs for quite a while now, worked great until now.
Got power-loss on my machine and now i have the "parent transid verify
failed on X wanted X found X" problem.
So I can''t get it to mount.
My btrfs is spread over sda (2tb), sdc(2tb), sdd(1tb).
Is this something that an offline fsck could fix ?
If so is the fsck-util being developed ?
Is there a way to

Seeding non-R RNG with numbers from R's RNG stream
Thank you for this. I'd like to be sure I understand the
intuition correctly. Is the following true from what you said?
I can just fix the seed at the C++ level and the results will still be
(pseudo) random because the initialization at the R level is (pseudo)
random.
