I need to get CentOS 3 installed on this thing but can't
due to the fact that the controller is not supported

Diagnosing random hangs
I have many different centos machines that are hanging
regulary. I believe this is due to something our application
is doing - not a centos specific problem.
When the machines hang, there is no access to the console
or remote access(ssh, rsh, etc).
Any tips on debugging this issue? It is becoming quite a
show stopper as we migrate our product from Solaris to
Linux.

rpm dependency question
I have an rpm I've created that has a dependency on a
library provided by a third party. This dependency is
not specified anywhere in my spec file yet the package seems
to know about when I run:
# rpm -qip --requires MyPackage.rpm
The third party rpm is installed and uninstalled via a
vendor-supplied script so that they can prompt you to accept
licenses and so on. Problem is, the vendor

detecting boot order
Given that I have a machine with possibly multiple disks, each of
which is bootable(has an MBR)....
Is there a command that will query the BIOS and tell me which disk
is the default boot disk. BTW - this is x86.
The goal is to remotely reboot the workstation into the desired
disk(which contain different centos versions).

nautilus pegging the cpu
I have a user that is running centos on
many machines. At each machine, the users is logged
into a common account that is located elsewhere on the network.
Meaning that everyone is logged on as user_x and accessing
the home directory via NFS.
All users are running gnome. On some of the machines, the nautilus
process is pegging the cpu. At this time, I have no strace or other

CentOS 3.5 system hanging
Our very large and very complex application is running on
CentOS 3.5 and Solaris. The CentOS machines are hanging
about once per day. By "hanging" I mean the system is
completely unresponsive either from the console or remotely
via ssh. Totally locked.
Does anyone have any tips for troubleshooting this sort
of problem?

Paravirtualized Solaris Update 6 (10/08)?
Gurus;
I''ve been running Solaris 10 on a HVM domain on my machine (running SXCE
snv_93 x86) for some time now.
Now that Solaris 10 Update 6 (10/08) has been released, I tried creating
a Paravirtualized Guest domain but got the same error message I got
previously...

nfsstat -m equivalent
Is there an equivalent command to nfsstat -m on Centos 3.4?

USB key problems on enterprise systems
Just came up with some interesting (read: frustrating) problems on
RHEL3 and RHEL4 today at work, and I've confirmed one of the problems
on my up-to-date CentOS4 system at home. I was forced into releasing
some RHEL3 systems to replace our aging RH9 systems without time for
adequate testing, and that leads to problems like these.
On our legacy RH9 systems, mounting a USB key is no problem,

is putting zone paths on zfs supported in Solaris 10 u5/u6 ?? Documentation on that? - 66124245
ZFS experts!
cu is looking for _documentation_ about putting zone paths on zfs. cu
is running 5.10 KP 137111-06. he needs to make sure u5 kp is ok with
zone roots. Also has FSs mounted via legacy.
So...anybody have documentation on which u5 or u6 of Solaris (NOT
OpenSolaris) supports zfs, if any update, for zone paths?

Cannot install vcrun6 or mfc42 using winetricks /Ubuntu10.04
Hi all,
Please help with this - I'm looking anywhere for a solution, but I cannot find any references anywhere.
Wine basically installs and runs OK (i.e. can run Notepad etc), but then I try to install vcrun6 or mfc42 and this is what I get:
