login process died too early
Hi !
I have dovecot working on a SUSE 9.0 machine.
Everything works fine. When I boot, I get this message:
snip.............
Dovecot starting up
Login process died too early-shutting down
snap...........
rcdovecot status : unused
a rcdovecot start starts dovecot.
What can I do to start dovecot when I boot up ?

Login process died too early - shutting down
Hi
I installed dovecot-1.0.rc6.tar.gz on Fedora - 5 (i86) with MySQL - 5.0.24
to authenticate pop3 & imap requests. But dovecot doesn't start properly. I
got below error from error log
Error: Login process died too early - shutting down
Error: Child 2521 (login) killed with signal 11
Please help me to sort out this problem as early as possible.

Reproduced the Login process died too early issue.
Hi.
I tried for some time to reproduce the "Login process died too early
issue".
It seems related to when the system run out of file descriptors, to
force the issue i forwarded 3k of messages trough the server(using
thunderbird).
I also tried with my usual mail application - mail.app, but no luck
there.

dovecot-1.0_rc7 crashes (Login process died too early) with repeated deletes from thunderbird
I can consistently reproduce a crash in dovecot:
Select 20 or more messages and copy them to a test folder.
Go into that test folder and SHIFT-DEL the messages rapidly (holding down SHIFT-DEL works best)
Just rapidly DELing them (even holding down DEL) doesn't do it (unless it's the Trash folder)
I'm using the following namespace (in case that's relevant)
namespace private {

RC6 startup failure: "Login prcess died too early"
Greetings.
I have been running Dovecot-1.0rc2 on a test server for the last couple
of weeks. No problems. However, when I installed RC6 this morning,
Dovecot refused to launch completely. Here's the relevant snippet from
/var/log/maillog:

dovecot/imap-login TLS?
# ps auxwww|egrep -i imap-login
dovenull 11879 1.4 0.9 83484 77656 ? S Nov20 19:12 dovecot/imap-login [822 connections (822 TLS)]
What exactly is TLS in this context?
All connections from imap -> imap-login?
All clients connecting to an imap process?

Imap process crash: assertion failed: (full_fs_access)
Any guess at what would cause this?
Feb 7 21:20:53 server dovecot: imap(user): Panic: file
mailbox-list-fs-iter.c: line 447 (fs_list_get_roots): assertion
failed: (full_fs_access)
(Sorry, no core dump)
According to my logs, this user couldn't start an IMAP session for a 2
hour stretch for hundreds of connections. Then the problem seemed to
have went away.
I logged back as that

''qemu-dm'' process just died
One of my W2K3R2 domains just stopped working, and the ''qemu-dm'' process
is in the ''defunct'' state, which means it has seg faulted or
something...
Of course this happens after it has been running perfectly for a week
and we think all of these problems are behind us!
There wasn''t time to attach the debugger to the process unfortunately...
is there any

PAM said that login wasn't allowed. PAM can have all kinds of plugins that can do all kinds of things.
