Script to convert mboxes to maildirs?
Does anybody know of a script of a simple method of converting mbox mail stores to maildirs? I'm moving from an old pop3 system to imap and after installing about half our office with mboxes have found that mbox does not support subfolders which some people like to use. Is there any simple way of converting? I can go to each individual account and "manually" convert swaping data

support for UW-style mbox
Hi, The dovecot docs say that support for the automatic appending of /var/spool/mail to a ~user/mbox (as is done by UW-IMAP) may be implemented in the near future. Is this still the case? And if so, is it far off? Cheers, Terry.

Migrating UW-POP3 mbox storage to Dovecot POP3 mbox storage
Hi We have an mailserver running RedHat Linux 9.0 with UW-IMAP (imap-2001a- 18.progeny.1.src.rpm), we have user mailboxes in /var/spool/mail/username using the default mbox storage method. Some users have home directories and some dont. They only connect through the POP3 server, not IMAP. We are now migrating both hardware and software to an new server running RHEL 4, i have copied all

Leftover mbox behavior from uw transition
Currently running dovecot 0.99.12 on a RHEL 3 server. This system used to use UW imap with mbox mailboxes, is now using dovecot with Maildir. (Actual user shell logins are not permitted.) Performance is tremendously improved. However, we still have users that have their client imap root set to the "mail" or "mail/" directory. (Can't reach/change them all easily.)

UW-IMAP style mbox snarfing from /var/mail/ to ~/mbox
http://dovecot.org/patches/mbox-snarf-plugin.c Also committed to CVS HEAD. Usage: mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u protocol imap { mail_plugins = mbox_snarf } protocol pop3 { mail_plugins = mbox_snarf } plugin { mbox_snarf = ~/mbox } If ~/mbox doesn't exist, nothing special is done. If ~/mbox exists, it's treated as INBOX and mails are moved from /var/mail/%u

Advice on converting from Mbox to Maildir?
Does anyone have advice or pointers on good documentation on how to convert a system from using the Mbox format to using Maildir? I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 2 from Fedora Core 1 and discovered that UW-IMAP was gone. So I switched over to using Dovecot. So far so good. But I would like to convert my system to start using the Maildir format. How easy is this to accomplish? Can I keep

procmail/formail --> Maildir
Hello List, i switched mailformat from mbox to maildir. Now i have a little problem with procmail/formail and headermanipulation of mails. OT: procmail recipe question
I'm trying to use procmail and I'm having trouble getting it to set some headers. I have one mailing list that sets ?Newsgroups: in the header and I want to remove it. I have the following test recipe: :0 * ^Subject:.*\<testing * ^(Mime-Version:|Content-) | formail -IMime-Version: -IContent- If I understand it correctly, it should remove the Mime-Verion and Content headers. Procmail/Formail problem on 6.3
Hi! In the process of making mysystem work again, having just done a reinstall of 6.3 x86_64. I have a considerable collection of procmail recipes for filtering mail in various ways, and since the upgrade none of 'em is working. procmail passes every mail thru spambayes, which gives back a rating on spamminess. this happens, so it's not as if procmail is simply punting. that is

Migration from UW-IMAP
I am attempting to test out dovecot on a server on a separate IP address from the live, functioning UW-IMAP. I am having mixed results with dovecot. An entirely new account that's never been used with UW-IMAP seems to work fine, but that's really not the point of the exercise. If I try changing over an existing account to use dovecot, I get a variety of issues. Testing with Apple

UW-IMAP migration to namespaces
Hello, I am trying to migrate existing UW-IMAP installation to dovecot 1.1.14 and I am having troubles with namespaces. As you know UW-IMAP allows full system access to home directory of a user and you can set up dovecot to do that as well, but I would like to use namespaces. If I set my namespaces like this: namespace private { separator = / prefix = inbox = yes location =

Migration Issues UW-POP3
I am migrating from UW's POP3 server (mbox), to Dovecote (mbox -> maildir). Anyway, I am concerned about the Logging details offered by Dovecot, as I manage several details from the logging information provided by UW's Syslog information. Here's a sample of the UW information: Oct 7 22:08:39 ns6 ipop3d[15432]: pop3 service init from 66.207.133.233 Oct 7 22:08:39 ns6

corrupt mbox, mailboxes not found, and message read status
I'm running dovecot 0.99.10-0.rc2 deb packages for Debian Woody from braincells.com. My old environment was a server running UW-IMAP for IMAP and POP services. We are still using mbox for all mailboxes. I use IMP for web based access. Forgive me if these issues have already been discussed or fixed in cvs. Any additional pointers to this info. would be appreciated. I have noticed a

Migration Problem UW-IMAP to Dovecot Maildir
I've just replaced our ancient (10-year old) mail server running Sendmail/UW-IMAP on Solaris with Postfix/Dovecot 2.1.10 running on Linux on new hardware. I opted to go with virtual users and I didn't want to create system accounts and I might end up hosting another department's mail as well. We have a mix of POP3 and IMAP users, roughly 90 total. The POP3 user mailboxes migrated
