zlib plugin nad moving mails, bug?
Hi,
Recently I gzipped mails older than 30 days in our users' maildirs. I used
find and gzip. Gzip added 'Z' at the end of the filename and everything
seemed to work fine, users did not notice any difference in performance
(yet :-), and I saved about 30% of our mail storage space.
There seems to be a problem when moving gzipped messages from one folder to
another though. Dovecot

With these planned changes, you mention they will be removed from
'core', so is the intention to allow more of these legacy plugins to
more to their own repo's for those that might still want to use them?
Eg, more in the the path of plug-in architecture? Just curious for
clarity.
Oh, and have to add.. still waiting on the variable capability patch, to

Hi!
I understand that it is not trivial to move away from vpopmail and does require changing a working system. But then again, one should be able to configure MySQL passdb/userdb with vpopmail schema.
I am not familiar with vpopmail but if someone comes with instructions we can polish them a bit (if necessary) and publish them as howto on doc.dovecot.org.

Dsync issues between Cyrus and Dovecot
Hello,
I have some issues related with dsync when trying to perform two way synchronization between Cyrus and Dovecot.
1st time synchronization always works and email, folders, flags can be synced between these but once for example in dovecot side the user creates a folder, dsync fails with the following errors:
Debug: brain M: Other brain should change mailbox INBOX/dove GUID

could not set effective gid
hello folks,
I am in the process of integrating a linux box in our windows NT/95/98
network, but so far I am having little luck with getting samba to work.
I am using Red Hat 5.1 with KDE, the samba version that I installed is
2.0.3.1. I want access from other machines as guest only and to achieve
that I created a guest account called guest on thel inux machine. My
problem is the following.

Samba 2.0.5a: couldnĀ“t set effective gid error
Hi together,
I?m heavy dealing with a strange behaviour of my samba server. When I
try to log on with smbclient -L <sambahost> -Usmbuser
I get an error message: ERRSRV - ERRbadpw (Bad password - name/password
pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.)
smbuser exists in both the passwd and the smbpasswd and is assigned to
not have a password.
In the log.smb (loglevel 3) I find

Cumulative Points and Confidence Interval Manipulation in barplot2
R-Users,
I am working with gplots (in gregmisc bundle) plotting some posterior
probabilities (using barplot2) of harvest bag limits for discrete data
(x-axis from 0 to 12, data is counts) and I ran into a couple of
questions whose solutions have evaded me.
1) When I create and include the confidence intervals, the lower bound
of the confidence intervals for several of the posterior probabilities

Creatulator: Before I go and make it myself, does this exist...
Basically, on thing that annoys me to no end is that I am constantly
having to add things to my model that could just be reflected out by
the active record. I use PortGres exclusivly, and I know that there
are ways to ask the database things like, "what is the primary key"
"what relation does this foreign key belong to" etc...
So what I am about to go and write myself is a

odd password issue using ]...[
Hello folks,
I'm using 0.99.11 with sendmail and shadow passwords.
I've discovered an odd bug with password characters.
Password Result
[dove] works
]dove[ fails
You can substitute anything for the dove part so its the inverted ] [
that's causing some sort of problem.
For the failed login I see this in the dovecot logs ...
