LDAP Auth problems with auth_bind=yes
Hi, I first posted this problem a day or two ago and have not seen any responses yet. To clarify my problem, I am authenticating virtual users against Active Directory on Win2k3, where their login id is their email address. I am using an almost identical setup to Suranga's below, however my initial bind user doesn't have access to the userPassword attribute, so I am using: auth_bind

php script to migrate other attributes after running classicupgrade
Hi, I have written a php script to upgrade a fresh s4 AD with more details from a (s3) ldap server. I am no programmer AT ALL, so I guess this is very dirty and un-elegant, but it does the trick. We had multiple "mail" attributes in openldap, and since AD only allows 1 mail attribute, additional mail addresses are migrated to "otherMailbox" AD attributes. Perhaps someone

LDAP authenticated bind support
Recently at Better.be we implemented LDAP authenticated bind support for dovecot. A patch against CVS HEAD is attached. I have not tested it against all possible configurations one can use, but the basic operation seems to be right. As documented in the patch, it adds one new option to the dovecot-ldap.conf configuration file: # Set "auth_bind" to "yes" if you want to use

Reverse DNS
Hi Louis, Thank you for that I have made the changes as per below , some items might have duplicated. I then reload apparmor restarted the samba-ad-dc and bind9 services and get the same issue. Every time the forward DNS update works but the reverse doesn't I found a really interesting samba post going back 2017 re the DHCP and DNS

DNS Replication
Hi, We have a Samba AD domain with an Ubuntu 16 box as the AD DC . We then promoted a Windows 2008R2 box as a DC. The DNS zone/data in the Samba AD gets replicated to the Windows DC. However, when we try to add a host entry in Windows DNS, we get the message The host record abcd.LIN.GROUP cannot be created. Refused. When we try to create the same in the Samba AD box, it works. The DNS backend

Help with possible bug (assigning NA value to data.frame)?
This 'strange behaviour' manifest itself within some quite complex code. When I created a *very* simple example the behaviour dissapeared. Here is the simplest version I have found which still causes the strange behaviour (it could be quite unrelated to the boot library, however). library(boot) ## boot statistic function my.mean.s <- function(data,subset){ mean(data[subset]) }

Permission issue
Hi, We did a classicupgrade of our Ubuntu Server (4.3.11, TDB), the server DC5 also host shares. Post the migration we are seeing some permission issues. When trying to give permission to a domain group/user to folder/file we get the following chown "LIN\\myadmin:LIN\\adgroup" adtest/ chown: invalid user: 'LIN\\myadmin:LIN\\adgroup' wbinfo --ping-dc : checking the NETLOGON
