Hi all, I have a problem with my linux. I updated my CentOS 4.3 (Final) - the software I updated were freetype-2.1.9-1.rhel4.4, freetype-devel-2.1.9-1.rhel4.4, gimp-2.0.5-6:1, gnupg-1.2.6-5, libwmf-0.2.8.3-5.3, mutt-1.4.1-11.rhel4:5 and sendmail. [LLVMdev] Compiling FreeType 2.1.9 with LLVM 1.4
Hi all, I learned of LLVM a couple of days ago: <http://groups.google.co.nz/groups?selm=pan.2004.12.18.11.29.33.33249%40consulting.net.nz> <http://groups.google.co.nz/groups?th=608e6e38e496f09d> (I posted a tail call followup which is missing from the archive) Jestingly, LLVM developers appear intent upon nothing short of world domination. Not only have you done an end run around

Yum strangeness
Hi all, I was about to do an update on my server, but looking at what the output was and here's the output from the beginning with other parts left off. I currently don't even have the clamav server installed, but am using the 0.93 version of clamav-milter. I've never seen yum throw in so many packages that aren't even installed. I understand the dependencies has to be

[LLVMdev] Compiling FreeType 2.1.9 with LLVM 1.4
Adam, I recant my previous message. I built FreeType with GCC not LLVMGCC by accident (I shoulda checked!). The thing is, FreeType's makefiles don't respect environment variables. So, I did this: CC=/path/to/llvmgcc CXX=/path/to/llvmg++ configure make and was able to reproduce the problem. Not sure what's up with that but as Misha pointed out, llvmgcc isn't any

Recommended REPO Setup for Desktop on Cos5
CentOS is simply great. I use it as my main desktop. I use VMWare clients for any "special needs" software. I am struggling a bit with the plethora of repos and looking for some advice. Would you opine with detail on the best repo setup for a desktop CentOS 5? Comments: rpmforge provides fine rpms. kbsingh, google, adobe, kde-redhat, CentOS-Testing , CentOS-fastrack, epel,

Excluded files from repos?
Ok.. I'm way behind the 8-ball on setting things up correctly, but after going over the protection things in yum, I ran a yum check-update and it returned with having 318 files excluded because of protection. Is that too high a number? I have the numerical protection set to 1. Is there a good tutorial about how to correctly set up the protect base. Sorry if this is a noobie question..
