scheduling differences between CentOS 4 and CentOS 5?
We have several latency-sensitive "pipeline"-style programs that have
a measurable performance degredation when run on CentOS 5.x versus
CentOS 4.x.
By "pipeline" program, I mean one that has multiple threads. The
mutiple threads work on shared data. Between each thread, there is a
queue. So thread A gets data, pushes into Qab, thread B pulls from
Qab, does some processing,

Skipping panels in Lattice
Dear all,
I wish to generate a lattice boxplot which skips an empty cell in a design.
I have trawled r-help, scruitinized xyplot(lattice) help page, and merrily
reproduced examples of using skip from a couple of previous r-help queries
and the example given in Pinheiro & Bates. But I must be missing something...
Here's an example (running R 1.9.1 on Win2k):

[5.0.0 Release] Release Candidate 3 tagged
Dear testers,
5.0.0-rc3 was just tagged.
This is a release candidate in the real sense: if nothing bad comes up
in testing, this is what the release is going to look like.
Please build, test and upload binaries to the sftp (use the
/data/testers-uploads/ directory) and let me know what issues remain.
I know we're a little bit behind schedule, but hopefully we can get to

multiple plots with QQplot of PerformanceAnalytics
Hi All,
I am trying to plot 4 graphs on to 1 page using layout(...), or par(mfcol =
c(...)); with the function QQplot from the package PerformanceAnalytics.
The problem is that, no matter what order I use, it only plots 3 graphs on to 1
page and the last QQplot is shunted to the next page.
Also, this only happens to the QQplot, i.e. there is no problem with 4
Histograms.

EVMS?
EVMS Enterprise Volume Management System sounds interesting,
looks like it supported CentOS4, but not CentOS5.
But maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

Problem with Eudora
I'm trying to get Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.10-6) to work with Eudora (6.0
mac/win) and am having a real problem when I try to enable SSL, either
TLS or alternate-port SSL.
Although my other mail clients, mail.app, imp, etc. work just fine,
either version of Eudora craps out when trying to connect via TLS or SSL
-- on the mac I get the error
Could not get mailbox list.

OT: Evolution folder location
I have used Eudora since v 1.35 (circa '93). For quite some time, I
have enjoyed keeping each of my mail accounts' folders in totally
separate directory trees. In Eudora you do this by specifying the
data locatoin as part of the startup: '<program location>/eudora.exe
<data location>'
So I am quite spoiled. But there is no Eudora support in Linux/CentOS.
So

eudora
Hi folks,
I'm new to WINE and have actually read the docs, so go easy on me. My
machine is setup to dual boot between Red Hat 7.2 and Windows2000. This
is what I get when I try to run Eudora 5.1 from my Win2k partition.
This is as far it'll go--no window ever displays. I get identical
results with either WINE 20020122 or a CVS snapshot from yesterday
evening. Let me know if

DTMF suddenly stopped working on SIP channel
Hi All,
Anyone have any idea what could cause incoming calls on a SIP channel
to no longer be able to use DTMF? DTMF on incoming calls on zaptel and
on local SIP softphones and ATAs all work fine. Nothing gets
registered in the CDR or on the console in verbose level 10, it just
times out. I haven't changed anything on my part and can't get through
to Viatalk tech support to ask them

New eudora problem - "mswmsg" not supported
I just upgraded from v0.9.9 to v0.9.32 (on Ubuntu 6.06) and Eudora Pro v4.2
stopped working. It no longer opens a mailbox when the icon is clicked. The
log shows "fixme:rpc:alloc_serverprotoseq protseq "mswmsg" not supported"
each time I click to open a mailbox.
This was working on v0.9.9 so I am looking for ideas as to how to work
around this problem. There is a bug

Eudora slow moving from samba 1.9.18p10 to latest
We are (only just) upgrading from Samba 1.9.18p10 to the latest 2.2.7a. We
run Eudora 5.1 on our PC clients, which pick up their mail boxes from home
directories on Solaris machines using samba shares. When we install the new
Samba, all our Samba clients slow down incredibly. I suspect here is a
change in the Samba config file requirements between the versions? Has
anyone else already solved

Hi,
the email status problem that I reported for Dovecot 0.99.10.5 on
June 3rd does still show up in 0.99.10.6. Quoting myself:

There seems to be a protocol mismatch between eudora and dovecot when

Ongoing Eudora problems and a thanks
First off, thanks to the Wine team-- the 10/4 build is the closest to
working well with Eudora I have had since the one I currently run, which
was 1/12/01.
Second, thanks to Lawson Whitney for sending me the socket patch so I
could get the 10/4 build on the net!
Now, Eudora Light 3.0.5 is running much better under the 10/4 build. A
few little things are still wrong.
Running just "wine

wine-20011004 Problems
I'm having major problems with the 10/4 Wine release. Currently the only
thing I really use Wine for is Eudora Light 3.0.5. The most stable
release for me thus far has been wine-20010112, which is what I'm using
right now. Most of the releases since then have had window problems with
Eudora-- messages having too much blank space, strange things.
So I tried 1004, and it has a new
