libdbi-ruby now?
Ruby 1.8.4 from the c4 testing repo is doing fine so far.
But now I need libdbi-ruby.
I don't see that in any of my usual repos or in c4 testing and it does
not seem to be rubygem'able.
Any pointers?
Thanks,
Steve

Newbie; Upgrading from Ruby 1.8.2 to Ruby 1.8.4
I am currently running Rails 1.0.0.
I''d like to upgrade from Ruby 1.8.2 to Ruby 1.8.4 on Windows XP.
Do I just download a tarball and unzip it into my Ruby install
directory?
Do I need to do anything to re-register my currently downloaded Gems?
Thanks,
Wes

Best way to configure proprietary NVidia driver on CentOS ?
Hi,
What's the best (cleanest, easiest, whatever) way to install the proprietary
NVidia driver on CentOS 5.5 ? Usually I'm using the RPMForge 3rd party repo
and compile the odd missing package myself from a Fedora SRPM. But the nvidia
packages look a bit like a mess. DKMS has errors in the startup script
(looking for a nonexistent log_action_msg and the likes), so I wonder if it's

Freenx full screen mode problem fixed in 0.5.x?
In early June, there was an update from freenx 0.4.x to 0.5.x in
centosplus. It broke full screen mode for Linux clients. I am aware of
the ctrl-alt-f workaround. But I have quite a few users at branch
offices who depend on NX and with employee turnover and all, it has been
a source of confusion for us. Has anyone come up with a fix so that
fullscreen works without crtl-alt-f? I've

Problem with ruby 1.8.4 One-Click Ruby Installer on windows
Hi!
Previously i had ruby 1.8.2 (One-Click Ruby Installer) installed, but
the rdoc and plugindoc didn''t work, so i decided to install ruby 1.8.4.
I had uninstalled ruby 1.8.2 (uninstaller deleted the whole ruby folder
with radrails and everything, just great) and installed One-Click Ruby
Installer 1.8.4-16 preview3.
Then installed rails, rmagick, radrails, created docs for trunk

Rails and Ruby 1.8.2 -- Is there a Security Issue?
Hello,
Ruby-Lang.org mentions a safe level bypass vulnerability in Ruby 1.8.2
(http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/20051003.html). The Rails Web site suggests
running Rails 1.1 under either 1.8.2 or 1.8.4.
Is the security issue in 1.8.2 such that a Rails application wouldn''t
expose it to the public? Or, for security reasons, should Rails apps
(and any other publicly exposed usage of Ruby)

Question about the ahci kernel module: missing in the CentOS (4) Plus kernel
Is there some reason the ahci kernel module is *missing* from the
2.6.9-89.0.16.plus.c4 kernel? It is in the standard 2.6.9-89.0.16.EL
kernel. Is this due to an oversight or is there some sort of conflict?
I wanted to add IEEE1394 support to my system running CentOS 4.8. I
*looks* like what I need to do is download the kernel SRPM and patch the
config to include the IEEE1394 modules and

Rails 1.1 and Ruby 1.8.3
I''ve seen that Rails 1.1 is not reliable with Ruby 1.8.2 so you should
upgrade to 1.8.4
I''m running ruby 1.8.3. What''s the story with it? Do I need to
upgrade before I try Rails 1.1?
Thanks

RadRails config? Getting blank project only created?
Hi,
Does anyone know how to correctly configure RadRails (0.7)?
I can''t seem to get 0.7 version of radrails to create a Rails project.
All I get is a blank project. I have ensured that my PATH does point to
my ruby\bin area. Also any clarification regarding which directory

[CSL #301925] centosplus kernel xfs patches and CVE-2006-1855
Hi All, we've run into a problem with the xfs component in the centosplus
kernel (2.6.9-34.106.unsupportedsmp) where synchronous writes sometimes fail
with EAGAIN. It's causing headaches for DB2 installs and for our database
research group. There is a fix reported at:

Developing with Ruby 1.8.2
Hi all,
I have to develop a Ruby on Rails web application using Ruby 1.8.2.
Could you inform me about what are the latest versions of Rails and
RubyGems that should work with Ruby 1.8.2. I am also looking for some
documentation that covers these versions. What I have found so far is
that most of the examples that can be found in internet do not fully
work on Ruby 1.8.2 and Rails 1.1.6 since they

ruby 1.8.2 or 1.8.3 on Linux?
I''ve seen some reports of problems with running Rails (version 1.0
here) on Ruby 1.8.3. Is this true across the board or just Mac OS?
I''m setting up a Linux server and want to know if 1.8.3 is ok on that.
Thanks,

ruby suitable for financial apps?
hi there,
I am about to embark on a mission critical financial web application,
and was wondering weather ruby on rails is the best fit for this type
of project.
More specifically I am worried about floating point errors. Would it be
more appropriate to use a more statically typed framework (.NET)?
thankyou.

New Beta version of Rake for Rails Users ... Fix for Ruby 1.8.2 unit test bug
I have a new version of Rake that I''m (almost) ready to release. But before I
make an official release, I would like some Rails folk to give it it try ...
Why?
Because it contains a workaround for the notorious Ruby 1.8.2 test/unit bug.
Using this version of rails, it should be possible to unit test a rails app
without patching the Ruby 1.8.2 test/unit library.
Where to get it?

Centos 4.2 and Boot/Root on RAID?
Hi,
I have a client that insists on going with software rather than hardware
raid1 to save a few dollars.
Can Centos 4.2 do Boot and Root on software Raid1?
I've heard criticisms of Grub and bootable RAID. Also, if it is not set
up to work out of the box, I'd like to try to talk them out of it.
I've been down that road before. If I go nonstandard, by the time I
actually need
