Error: socket() failed: Protocol not supported ERROR in dovecot-1.0.beta9
I'm trying to get IMAPS working with dovecot-1.0.beta9. I'm building it
on a Solaris 10 box, with openssl-0.9.8b installed. Here is the results
of my ./configure:
Install prefix ...................... : /usr/local/dovecot-1.0.beta9
File offsets ........................ : 64bit

Broken on upgrade, "Protocol not supported"
Hello, and thanks in advance for your help. I was having trouble with
dovecot-1.0beta2 after it worked flawlessly since January. Thunderbird
was complaining that dovecot was not returning proper mail server
capabilities (its log seems to confirm this). I checked the dovecot
site and saw a new beta (beta9) with lots of bug fixes, so I downloaded
it and installed it.

Yes, the problem is the compatibility with the mysql library but I stull can't figure
out how this might affect reading/writing.

1.0 beta 9 problems
Two problems with this new beta not found in beta 8.
1. mbox_from_create error
This is the configure string I use, and I paste the make error message
below. I have to use "--with-storages=maildir,mbox" to get around the error.
./configure \
--prefix=/opt1/dovecot \
--localstatedir=/var \
--without-shadow \
--without-cyrus-sasl2 \

JMAP support in Dovecot
Hi Marcus
Thanks for your helpful reply.
Do you know what is going on with JMAP development into Dovecot 2.5?
It's difficult to get any sort of information from the roadmap and there are no Dovecot forums.
One of the main reasons I'm interested in JMAP is because of Roundcube Next and also the other clients it will power. Sadly, there has been little going on and having emailed Thomas,

JMAP support in Dovecot
Hi Aki,
Someone just asked in the bug for Thunderbird for this, so...
Is there a git branch that they could use to start playing with what is
there? If not, any idea when that might happen?
It sounds like someone following the Thunderbird bug is interested in
working on this, but they obviously need something to test against.
Thanks,
Charles

JMAP support in Dovecot
Hi!
We are working on including JMAP support to Dovecot. At this moment I cannot give any promise for exact version, but hopefully it will be part of v2.3

Large mbox files.
I'm very sorry if this is a faq. I've spent considerable time reading
documentation and doing Google searches to no avail...and the mailing list
archive isn't searchable as far as I can tell.
Anyway, the question: When I try to open a large mbox file from Squirrel Mail I
receive the following Dovecot error:

Marcus,
Thanks for the spec file.
I'm fairly new to creating RPM's and I just found out that the issue is
taking place during the 'make check' portion of the spec file. I'm not
sure what 'make check' does after having googled it, although, I think
it checks for run-time errors. Any hints?

have your userdb query return an apparmor_hat column.
I think dict lookups can be used as well?

I have just upgraded from courier to dovecot and things seem to be working okay

I notice the following error message in my logs:-

Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
We tried installing Radicale months ago, and decided to postpone testing. Its footprint exceeds 140MB, because of python. It requires python, which is a security hazard on production servers. Security mitigations are absent: must use a virtual machine.

subscription to mail folders not working properly anymore with dovecot1.0x ?
Hi
we run dovecot on sun solaris 9. I try to switch from dovecot 0.99.11
to dovecot 1.0, with ssl support turned on.
The user's mail are stored in mbox format in Mail in their home dirs.
I was not able to get the subscrition working properly with the new
dovecot. New means: 1.0beta2 and now also 1.0.RC1 (beta9)
The client mailreaders are mainly thunderbird 1.0x and 1.5.x, Netscape

[PATCH] Better detection for ioloop and notify
Hi List!
Attached is a patch to configure.in to test that epoll, poll, inotify, kqueue
and dnotify actually work. It also attempts to select the best one for you if
none specified.
This supercedes my previous patch in the re beta9 thread.
Hopefully get this in Gentoo's beta9 ebuild soon.
Thanks

I've seen this plugin, but I fear that it will be enabled for all users.
I don't have seen an way to enable it only for 1 user like rawlog permits.

Listen on multiple ports possible using same protocol?
Is it possible to have multiple Listen directives in a dovecot configuration file for the same protocol? I am running dovecot-1.2.11 and I want to be able to use the "standard port" as well as a test port:
protocol imap {
listen = *:143
listen = *:10143
ssl_listen = *:993
ssl_listen = *:10993
for example. Or is this more preferably done by pointing
