I found the reason for this build error. It has to do with the rpath
setting. Under Fedora packaging guidelines
<https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines?rd=Packaging/Guidelines#AlternativeRpath>
the following settings are changed in the spec file under %configure for
libtool:
%configure
sed -i
's|^hardcode_libdir_flag_spec=.*|hardcode_libdir_flag_spec=""|g'
libtool
sed -i 's|^runpath_var=LD_RUN_PATH|runpath_var=DIE_RPATH_DIE|g' libtool
commenting them out solved the problem, but I'm not sure that this is the
best, or the appropriate, solution...yet.
