Dovecot Migration so far
We've been doing our own beta testing of Dovecot 2.0-beta4 IMAP (both
direct IMAP and webmail-fronted), and we've had nothing but glowing
compliments from our beta users/victims. I've also been running a lone
box with the latest mercurial build and that's been running just fine
too. All mail data is on NFS, but I've put indexes on the local disk,
which has worked just dandy so

[LLVMdev] Interfacing llvm with a precise, relocating GC
Hello llvm-dev!
My colleages and I are currently evaluating llvm's suitability as a
JIT compiler interfacing with a precise, relocating garbage collector.
While we couldn't find code or writeups that deal with the issues
specific to this design goal, it is entirely possible that we may have
missed something; we would appreciate references to relevant code or
writeups that people on this

v1.2.beta4 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.2/beta/dovecot-1.2.beta4.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.2/beta/dovecot-1.2.beta4.tar.gz.sig
This release fixes a memory corruption bug related to MODSEQ handling in
earlier v1.2 releases. Memory corruption means that it's a security bug
and possibly exploitable. MODSEQ code is new in v1.2, so v1.1 and older
releases are not affected.
Other than that, there

http://dovecot.org/releases/1.1/beta/dovecot-1.1.beta4.tar.gz.sig
Lots of fixes since beta3, but apparently there are still a few bugs
left:
- Is SORT working?
- APPEND seems to have problems in some setups.
- Still some SEARCH TEXT problems? Or Squat indexing problems?

RC2 vs. beta4 (test)
Hi!
I would like to share with you an interesting test result.
I re-encoded a song 10 times (the 2. made from the 1.,
the 3. made from the 2.,... the 10. made from the 9.),
with a beta4 (CVS 20010620)
and with an RC2 (CVS 20010817) library version,
256 kbit/s mode, channel coupling disabled at RC2.
The beta4 is very good at the 10. encoding too,
but the RC2 has some interesting quality bugs.
So,

Post-compile RSA error with 1.2.2, Solaris 7, OpenSSL 0.9.5
I've been happily using the pre-packaged OpenSSH on my Debian systems
for several weeks. Yesterday I finally started the process of getting
OpenSSH up and running on all our Solaris boxes, to replace the
existing (patched) 1.2.27 non-free version. (Our in-house patches to
1.2.27 include generation of kernel-level audit data for both IRIX and
Solaris, and I want to port/contribute that code

parfm unable to fit models when hazard rate is small
Hello, I would like to use the parfm package: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/parfm/parfm.pdfhttps://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/parfm/parfm.pdf in my work. This package fits parametric frailty models to survival data. To ensure I was using it properly, I started by running some small simulations to generate some survival data (without any random effects), and analyse the data using

Error: cannot set length of non-vector
The subject line says it all. How can I find what
Error: cannot set length of non-vector
means? RTFS is no help. I can find out of course that
it comes from "lengthgets", but who called that? Not me!
The situation is as follows. I am trying to get a package
ready for CRAN. Every time I run "R CMD check" I get this
error when building the package vignette. But (!)

Residue bit usage, library incompatibilities
I've been using the rc2 releases of Vorbis for a while now. I've been
in the process of making digital copies of a bunch of my music, and I
keep getting this "residue bit usage" message when oggenc finishes. I'm
trying to encode data from an audio CD at 160bps, and it always seems
to get booted back down to ~128 bps with this residue bit ussage
message. Again, I'm using

Winamp plugin not recognized at all
I happily downloaded the official beta4 winamp plugin as well as Mattew's
versions with VCE interated and with/without the dialog. When I installed
it winamp (v2.72) didn't recognize it (no vorbis plugin listed in the
config, doesn't play ogg files) - same for all of them. I recompiled it
myself from Mattew's source with vce - same results.
It does recognize the old plugin when
