LDAP Authentication with multiple independent domains
Is it possible to authenticate users against multiple independent AD domains?
In my dovecot-ldap.conf I entered two hosts:
hosts = host1 host 2
auth_bind_userdn = %d\%n
ldap_version = 3
base = cn=users,dc=%d,dc=net
auth_bind = yes
but OpenLDAP seems to stop authentication as soon as the first host
succeeds or fails.
I also tried to configure trust between the two, but it didn't work either.

Manual verses Wiki
I know I'm looking at the answer but probably not seeing it on the Wiki?
Is there a "manual" for Dovecot?
Or ... where do I find all the options for the userdb and passdb options?
While trying to get my head wrapped around this I noticed I might have
been mixing args between the two. One example has userdb first then the
next one passdb.

Dovecot 2.0.5 - multiple auth processes.
Hi.
On Dovecot 1.2.x it is possible to run multiple auth daemons.
Is it possible on dovecot 2.0.x ?
(Setting "process_min_avail" for auth service gives this error message:
"doveconf: Fatal: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf:
service(auth): process_min_avail is higher than process_limit")
Sample configuration for dovecot 1.2.8:

Clash between multiple authentication databases (security problem?)
Hi all,
I just installed dovecot-1.0_beta2 and love it! However, I've run into issues using multiple authentication databases.
I use both pam (for users on my system) and sql (for virtual users). I've noticed that if I have system user "userabc" and virtual user "userabc at otherdomain.com" (two distinct users) and my "auth default" section contains these

1.0.alpha4 released
The actual alpha4 release this time. With a few changes since the
pre-release.
The important changes again:
- Default lock_method changed to flock instead of the old fcntl.
Solaris users will need to set it back to fcntl. This makes sure that
Dovecot's indexes aren't accidentally used with NFS.
- IMAP: We might have sent extra EXPUNGE messages when output buffer
got full. This could

Hello all,
Here is my situation:
I have an existing linux box with 100+ users. This box
run various services. Users do not have shell access.
I have added samba to this box so users can share
files and access their files from Windows. Samba
installation and configuration went smoothly. Now, the
problem is, I need to create entries in smbpasswd for
these 100+ users.
How would I go about creating

I'm trying to get dovecot and postfix virtual domains working on an fc6
system. My software versions are postfix 2.4.5 installed from rpm and
dovecot 1.0.3 also installed from rpm.
I'm only running secure protocols, pop3s at the moment, imaps later on.
I've set up postfix for virtual mailbox domains as per it's howto on the

[Patch] Samba's proposed "ntlm_auth + winbind" support for dovecot-auth
The Samba team recommends to use their "ntlm_auth" command line helper
for "NTLM" and "GSS-SPNEGO" authentication. This helper interacts with
the Samba's winbind daemon, and this way can authenticate users against
NT or Active Directory windows domain.
Currently Dovecot can do "NTLM" authentication too, but just "locally"
