Postfix & Dovecot LDA
Hi, I was using Dovecot (POP3,IMAP+quotas) with postfix quota "addon".
But the postfix's quotas were reported differently and the quota file
gets messed up all the time. So now I have also Dovecot's LDA, and
everything works like charm... but... Now postfix can pass only one
mail at a time to LDA. And that slows down delivery. Postfix master

LDA ignored
Hi,
my final goal is it to make use Dovecot's sieve modul - but
unfortunately I'm not getting the LDA running as it is described in the
Dovecot's wiki pages ... ;/
I've more and more getting the feeling that the LDA section in the
configuration is completely ignored, cause whatever change I do in there
is not being recognized at all - I could just type wildly arround in

Dovecot LDA / Deliver question
Problem described:
I am trying to get Postfix + Dovecot + MySQL setup to work together in a
virtual mail hosting platform. I am running Postfix 2.3.x, and MySQL 5.0.x.
I am trying to use Dovecot's LDA for delivery to the users vmail home
directory -- usually under /var/vmail/domain.com/j/jdoe for home and
/var/vmail/domain.com/j/jdoe/.maildir for mail location, using MAILDIR
format.

v1.0 vs 1.1b re: Postfix and Dovecot LDA
In running the various 1.0.n versions of Dovecot's LDA with the
instructions in the wiki for using LDA with Postfix [on OS X 10.4]
things went well using the instructions as-is (no setuid problems).
This changed in moving over to the 1.1 beta. The LDA refused to work
failing with the error "setgroups() failed: Operation not permitted"
as I mentioned in a previous message.

using local-part delimiters in LDA delivery?
hi all,
i've exim 4.53RC2 + dovecot-cvs on OSX 10.4.2.
i'm working on implementing recipient-delimiters for delivery from exim to a
user's imap store using dovecot's cvs-lda.
reading on the wiki (Jakob's latest comments?):
" ... the part after the delimiter is passed to the lda as an additional
parameter. so dovecot-lda should handle that parameter and leave the

LDA sieve plugin [patch]
Hi all.
I spent some time testing Dovecot's LDA sieve plugin and found problem
with "notify" method.
In fact it always returns "generic sieve error"... and thus produces
bounce messages like this:
-----
Your message was automatically rejected by Dovecot Mail Delivery Agent.
The following reason was given:
Unknown error

dovecot's LDA agent
Hi!
I am using courier IMAP with maildrop as LDA. I started reading about
dovecot and i like started to feel that i can switch to it.
I have couple questions mostly about dovecot's LDA.
My main problem with maildrop is that i have to create manualy user
directories grr. All my domains are set up as virtual with postfix.
So when i add new accout thru my web panel and i have to create user dir

1.0.beta2 released
I had originally thought that I'd do a complete audit of the Dovecot's
sources this weekend, but looks like I didn't. Hopefully I've been
writing good enough code that the "1000 EUR for security hole" offer
lasts for a long time. :)
This release should fix the SSL parameter regeneration problem. There
were two changes that were needed to fix it, but I had forgotten the

deliver LDA and INBOX location
(OS: Fedora Core 5; dovecot: 1.0 rc7)
On a typical UNIX-like OS, the INBOXes are in "/var/spool/mail/" using the
user identifier: so user 'fred' has INBOX "/var/spool/mail/fred".
We have a well-established different convention which subdivides this,
based on the last two digits of the uid: "/var/spool/mail/12/fred" (for
fred's uid as something ending

Postfix & Dovecot LDA
Hi,
before I start to write a lengthy email about something that isn't
really possible anyway: can I make Postfix use Dovecot's LDA and start
it with different user IDs?
My scenario: Dovecot authenticates users for Postfix and itself using
Postgresql. Mails for two domains should be stored under
/srv/<domain>/<user> (which is the location returned by my user_sql
query and

Dovecot-LDA problems (CVS version) Signal 11 and empty 'mail' dir
Hello,
I'm trying dovecot-lda (deliver.c has CVS version 1.18). When I try to
deliver a mail, an empty directory is created name $HOME/mail.
This is neither the configured (via LDAP) nor the default "mail" setting
in the /usr/local/etc/dovecot-deliver.conf.
When the $HOME directory does not exist, but the user itself:

Postfix + Dovecot LDA Problem
I am having a problem setting up a server to handle e-mail in a way
in which it had always done traditionally, but with Postfix+Dovecot LDA.
Here's a rundown...
Solaris 9
Postfix 2.3.3
Dovecot 1.0.rc10
Postfix non-defaults (postconf -n):
alias_maps = dbm:/etc/mail/aliases
command_directory = /opt/postfix/sbin
config_directory = /etc/opt/postfix
daemon_directory = /opt/postfix/libexec

invoking LDA in .forward
Hi,
We're running a Debian server with system users where the mail is by
default delivered by postfix and procmail, before being served by
Dovecot (mail_location = mbox:~/Mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u) or read by
local MUAs, depending on users' preferences.
For people using mostly remote MUAs, it might be interesting to use
Dovecot's LDA. I read on http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA that this

Dovecot LDA with sieve scripting
I also placed dovecot-lda-0.1.tar.gz in http://dovecot.org/test/. It's
also in dovecot-lda module in CVS.
It's based on the same deliver binary that exists in Dovecot's sources,
but I've also plugged in CMU Sieve (mostly because it was the easiest
one to plug in). The code could be much prettier, but it works anyway
:)
I think at some point I'm going to try to make the

Problems with deliver (LDA)
Hi,
I'm using Dovecot's (1.0.rc2) 'deliver' (no sieve) as LDA - calling it
from a .qmail file.
It seems that 'deliver' destroys "message/rfc822" attachments (forward
as attachment).
My .qmail file looks like this, and use qmail to deliver a copy directly
to my Maildir, and 'deliver' to deliver a second copy of the same
message to the same Maildir:

rc7 bug? [Was: deliver LDA and INBOX location] (fwd)
Anyone had any thoughts on the item below?
If the problem is with my config, I'd like to be guided towards how I
might resolve it.
If it is a bug in rc7, it would be good to fix it, and I'd be happy to
beta-test.

Variable expansion in LDA vs POP/IMAP
Hello all,
I'm trying to understand when exactly the variable substitution
happens in Dovecot, as I get different results in the LDA and in the POP/IMAP
server.
Here's my general setup:
- Postfix MTA, delivers mail via Dovecot LDA
- users list sits in a database
- mail directory is stored in the database, but with
Dovecot variables inside
Delivery works perfectly fine,
