Message Filenames
Is there anyway to get a message's filename through the imap server? I've been developing a program for awhile and just switched to dovecot from courier. Courier had a file that for every line was like:
<message uid> <message filename>
Is there anway to get this information out of dovecot?

why does dovecot child die on these messages?
Hi Timo and other dovecot fans,
why, when I'm trying to read certain "Drafts" emails that I just
created, or edited, do the dovecot children die (or so I think).
In mutt, the behaviour is that I "c =Drafts" then select the email and I
get "connection closed to squeaky.rubberduck.com".
In Mail.app - she just loops, trying to read those headers again and

still getting weird .{inbox} folder creations with latest -test7
Hi,
I am still getting strange creation and mailbox lookups from

dovecot creates in ~/Maildir/

.imap.index
.imap.index.cache
.imap.index.log
.customflags

.INBOX seems to be a reference to ~/Maildir/{cur,new,tmp} yet I

No auto-conversion of .customflags?
Hello,
I'm in the process of migrating 0.99 dovecot maildir boxes to a pair
of new machine. These servers were running the stable (etch) 1.0rc15
package of dovecot until yesterday and existing .customflags files
were correctly converted to dovecot-keywords. Yesterday I upgraded
to the (finally, thanks to who did this) 1.0.0 etch backports package
and since then freshly migrated boxes get

Quick question. Thunderbird/Outlook = no love.
Are there any how-tos or documentation on getting dovecot to be thunderbird/outlook friendly?
Thunderbird can connect about 20% of the time, the other 80% of the time, I Get the error:
"You may need to connect via SSL or TLS. Please check the account settings for your mail server."
I have my thunderbird setup to do TLS. I've put it on the TLS if available as well, still no love.

Fedora 4: x86_64 different build options than i386?
After successful testing on our 32-bit machine using the rpm, I'm
installing dovecot on our Fedora 64-bit machine using that rpm. In
the log file I get:
dovecot: Mar 31 15:34:16 Error: auth(default): Unknown database driver 'mysql'
I see this:
# dovecot --build-options
Build options: ioloop=poll dnotify ipv6 openssl
Passdb: checkpassword pam passwd passwd-file shadow

customflags considered a folder?
Hello,
i just switched from courier-imap to dovecot on a machine. The transition was
painless except for one issue - when using the "Check mail" feature of kmail,
one gets the message:
"Unable to get information about folder customflags. The server replied:
internal error..."
So it looks like the server isn't properly hiding the .customflags file for
some reason. I

Upgrade from 0.99.x to 1.1.x
Hi!
I want to upgrade a Dovecot installation from 0.99.14 to 1.1.15,
so I had a look at the following wiki article:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading?action=show&redirect=UpgradingDovecot
The article http://wiki.dovecot.org/Upgrading/1.0 says something
about .customflags -> dovecot-keywords and
.subscriptions -> subscriptions change/conversion:

customflags and keywords
OK. After checking the 0.99->1.0 migration documentation, it seems I've been a
little confused between customflags and keywords. (Though this is partly due to
my repeated requests for clarification being ignored.)
The page (http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/UpgradingDovecot) says 1.0 does not
use .customflags any more. Now, I'm hoping they're still supported, in which

Maildir syncing now works pretty much as described in my earlier mail.
It was quite a large change, so please test this :)
So the new and great features:
- It's faster.
- If someone renames maildir file just before we try to use it, we now
resync the maildir and try to find it again. Before we just failed. It's
also possible that the filename changed

Help, problems with permissions
Hi
I am replacing my current mail system, using Exim/Postgres/WU-IMAP to
another host using Dovecot.
Everything has gone well, until I have tried to access some test mails
via POP.
The error message I am getting is

Visibility of .subscriptions and .customflags
Hi, I upgraded to test65 from 0.99 (mostly to get the namespace feature) and
now it seems my .subscriptions and .customflags are showing up as mail
folders in my IMAP client (Eudora).
If I try and open those folders, of course I get an error.
How can I configure dovecot so that these aren't displayed to my IMAP
client? I looked through about 6 months of acrhives and couldn't find

Resources and pretty URLS
Using the brand-spanking new map.resources for REST goodness, is there a
way to pass in additional parameters, or do I have to go back to
standard routes. For example, is there a way to use the map.resources
to response to urls like:

2005, :month => ''02'', :day => ''03''

Postfix and Maildirs
Hope someone can help me with this as I am presently stuck
I am setting up a new server with Dovecot 0.99.10, Redhat 9.0, Postfix,
Amavisd-new and maildir's in the users home drive.
I am using Netscape mail 7.1 as the main client to access the mail store
via imap which works fine and various other imap clients can access the
maildirs Ok as well.
The problem is when Postfix delivers a

Upgrading from 0.99.10.5 to 1.1
Hi,
I am upgrading a setup from Dovecot 0.99 to 1.1. There are a bunch of
.imap.index* files that it appears that I can just delete, and they will
be recreated as dovecot.index* files. Right?
Next, there are some .customflags that I have now learned are not being
converted to dovecot-keywords (as we skipped the 1.0 version, and the
conversion code appears to be removed in 1.1). Is there some way
