AW: Problems with installation
ok - I tried this too. But CentOS tries to find the floppy as /dev/hda which is not the device for the USB-Floppy. Dell ships one with the server because no one is integrated. So when I try to include the driver disk the installer is not able to find it. -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: centos-bounces at centos.org [mailto:centos-bounces at centos.org] Im Auftrag von Jim Perrin Gesendet:

feedback/help request
Hi, First, let me thank you for the excellent documentation and programming work on Syslinux. It has made getting to this point infinitely easier. Unfortunately, I need to request some guidance in troubleshooting a problem I am having using the RedHat installer on their version 7.3, which uses Syslinux as the boot mechanism. A little background: I have an old Micron Powerdigm XsU dual PII

AW: executable on /etc/rc.local doesn't start
Do you have any logfile output? First check whether the environment (JAVA_HOME for example) is set before calling /usr/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/bin/startup.sh. making new initrd, how to do it?
I have installed the xen 3.1.0 x86_64 tarball compiled for RHEL5 on a RHEL5 system. The system in question was able to boot with the xen kernel that came with RHEL5. I untarred the tarball, and did cd /boot mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-xen.img 2.6.18-xen The command exited properly and made a initrd image. The machine booted with a grub.conf entry like this: title Xen 3.1.0 root

Installing 4.4 - problem on 386
I tried installing with several options (noacpi noapm; noprobe; noprobe skipddc noacpi noapm nodma). Always I get the same error. BUT this is not in fac a CentOS problem at all, because I get the same error always when I boot from hd (Fedora Core), IF there is a CD in the CD-ROM drive. (I tried with CentOS 1/4, CentOS 2/4 and a HP printer software CD.) It must be something with the CD drive!

HP DL140G2 and SATA woes
Posted a similar version of this to the RHEL4 list... I''m having trouble getting CentOS 4.2 installed on a DL140G2 with two SATA drives. I am doing a PXE install, so I do not have a CD-ROM drive in the system and this appears to have the side-effect that both SATA drives are caught by the Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver before ata_piix can catch it. As soon as I hook an IDE CD-ROM

autoprobe for nVidia 6200 broken
I have the same problem on the install disks and on the Live CD: The computer locks as soon as the Xserver starts. I end up with a blank screen (color varies) with a moving mouse cursor. Nothing else. Nothing appears on the screen. Keyboard and mouse are inoperative. Even Alt-SysRq-R doesn't work. Only way out is the reset button (or maybe SSH, but I don't have another machine handy

Boot/init problem with IBM Netfinity 4500
I hope the CentOS people don't mind me cross-posting for their input. I've just done a clean, text-mode minimal WBEL4 install on an IBM Netfinity 4500, essentially the same hardware as an xSeries 340. The install went fine but now the box will boot, run through the initrd init sequence, perform its switchroot then hang here... SELinux: Initializing. SELinux: Starting in permissive mode

Install Centos 6 x86_64 on Dell PowerEdge 2970 and a SSD (hardware probing issues)
I have a fleet of 2970s and we are upgrading the hardrives on the motherboard SATA ports (A/B not the PERC backplane) when a "detecting hardware" is performed the system crashes, reboots and gives an E1422 error code (useless video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhyMeUHJar4). We narrowed it down to a motherboard BIOS issue, if we remove the SSD or add noprobe to the kernel the

AW: getent not working (again)
I don't think that this is my problem. When I try 'getent passwd <user>' I get no output either. And we only store about 200 users. Is bug 3024 fixed in the newest version? I will try to apply the patch. J?rg -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: Gautier, B (Bob) [mailto:Bob.Gautier@rabobank.com] Gesendet: Freitag, 21. April 2006 12:54 An: Horchler, Joerg;

We have DELL R900 server with PERC6/i and PERC 6/E in it. O.S. is CENTOS 5.3. I download latest PERC 6 driver from DELL site and tried to installed it. unable to boot centos 5 on dell optiplex 320
Hello All. I have a dell optiplex 320 that I can install centos5 on using pci=nomsi. That seems to be the only way. After the install grub loads but thats about as far as it gets. It looks like a BIOS bug to me, but I just don't know. I left it sit for a few minutes and it just had the echoed boot params on the screen. I've tried booting with noapic nolapic apm=off acpi=off and noprobe

Any experience with CentOS 4.4 and Intel DQ965GF?
Hi! I'm having trouble installing CentOS 4.4 to a system with Intel's DQ965GF motherboard. The installer hangs (even with noprobe option). I'm wondering if someone has succeeded with this type of installation? Is the only choice to install the OS in another, older setup, update it and move the disks to the DQ965GF setup?
