Dovecot stops logging of imap logins after logrotation
Hi list,
on my Debian box there is a logrotation cron job that will gzip existing
/var/log/mail.log file and create a new mail.log.
It seems that after running logrotation dovecot stops logging successful
POP or IMAP logins to /var/log/mail.log (nevertheless, it still works to
login with POP or SMTP).
This is bad because pop-before-smtp mechanisms also stop working.
I have deactivated

Question about $pat in pop-before-smtp.conf
Hi,
I have setup dovecot to log all successful pop3 and imap logins into
/var/log/mail.log
I want to use pop-before-smtp to process the log file and write a .db
file where sendmail can look up ip addresses that are allowd to relay.
mail.log entries look like this:
dovecot: 2006-01-26 17:22:28 Info: pop3-login: Login: user=<planat25>,
method=PLAIN, rip=213.83.32.125, lip=192.168.1.98

Info regarding conversion of mbox to maildir
When I finally decide to convert to maildir, will I have to set up namespaces
during the conversion, or will dovecot figure out where everything is by itself?
Should I set up deliver to go to maildir/ globally, or per user?
I have considered using the convert plugin, if there are not a lot of negatives.

IMAP and Outlook XP Contacts
I was wondering, does Dovecot's IMAP server hand Outlook XP's contact lists?
I tried to enter a contact on my IMAP server and received an error from
Outlook stating that the Contacts formatting was too complex and thus
couldn't be saved.
I went ahead and swung my box over to MailDir and scrapped Sendmail for
Postfix [for maildir support], I was wondering, would this issue continue?

Accountsservice in CentOS 7.3
Is there any known problem with accountsservice-0.6.35-12 with NFS users?
After logging in via lightdm they are not "remembered" and there is no
entry created to /var/lib/AccountsService/users
Downgrading to accountsservice-0.6.35-9 resolved that issue

Some thoughts about EL 6
Many people seem to wait for the announcement of CentOS 6.0, so I want
to share some test results I did with SL 6.0..
The actual 6.0 kernel can NOT allocate tape buffers when the server is
heavily loaded at least on some LSILogic hardware.
There is a big problem of slab buffer increase that can cause
reboot/freeze of the server under load. Reported by many and verified by
me :-(
So perhaps

OpenSSH and CBC
Hi Gerhard,
This is not exactly true. CTR modes have the length field encrypted. etm
MAC modes and AES-GCM have the length field in cleartext.
CBC is dangerous because the length field is encrypted with CBC.
aes128-ctr + hmac-sha256 doesn't have any known vulnerability and
encrypts the packet length, but uses the bad practice of e&m.
chacha20-poly1305 encrypts both payload and packet

Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail
Hello!
Currently I'm trying to integrate dovecot's deliver program into procmail.
So basically I'd write a patch for procmail to deliver not directly into
the mbox file but delivering with the dovecot deliver program.
Do you think this is a good concept?
For testing I use the commands discussed below. Currently I'm having a
problem that deliver doesn't recognize the

7.3: Gnome workspaces mirrored
An user is using 2 displays and configured Gnome to "Static Workspaces
only on primary display on" using gnome-tweak-tool
Till 7.2 it was working as expected. After upgrading to 7.3 the content
on the primary screen gets mirrored to all workspaces.
When switching to "Static Workspaces only on primary display off"
everything is working as expected on 7.3, too.
Any ideas?

Is kernel-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7 tested with old hardware?
Today we tried to update machines w/ Core2 Duo E6750 from
3.10.0-693.11.1.el7.centos.plus to 3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.centos.plus and
the machines did not boot due to a kernel panic.
Before we dig any further I wanted to know if the 11.6 kernel has been
tested on old hardware, too, or if the problem is well known but not
documented (yet).
Thank you in advance!

Performance problem
Dear all,
I have a performance problem in terms of computing time.
I estimate mixed models on a fairly large number of subgroups (10000) using
lme(.) within the by(.) function and it takes hours to do the calculation
on a fast notebook under Windows.
I suspect by(.) to be a poor implementation for doing individual analysis
on subgroups.
Is there an alternative and more efficient way for doing

Dovecot 1.0beta4 and Disconnected Problem
Hello!
Yesterday I upgraded from 1.0beta3 to 1.0beta4. I've major problems now
with my inbox (quite large, 900MB) and another large folder. Thunderbird
1.5 connects and disconnects. I tried to delete the indexes of dovecot and
thunderbird without any sucess.
Finally I downgraded to 1.0beta3 and it works well again (Beta3 was
running for a timeframe from when it came out and now without

calculate quantiles of a custom function
Hi,
I guess that my problem has an obvious answer, but I have not been able to
find it.
Suppose I create a custom function, consisting of two beta-distributions:
myfunction <- function(x) {
dbeta(x,2,6) + dbeta(x,6,2)
}
How can I calculate the quantiles of myfunction?
I have not seen any continous function treated in the docs, and applying the
"quantile function" gives me an

Submission from: (NULL) (212.183.54.87)
Invoking windows() with the parameter rescale="fixed" followed by plot.new()
or any other plot command causes very often the following error:
windows(width=7, height=7, rescale="fixed");plot.new()
Error in plot.new() : outer margins too large (fig.region too small)
