"Dumb" proxying?
I'm a database noob, and it really seems like it would be overkill for my setup: I just want to proxy all connections from my DMZ to my internal mail server -- same internal server for all users. I used to use perdition for this set up, but am having issues getting it to play nicely with my new servers. Can I bypass all of the SQL stuff and just have dovecot forward all POP/IMAP

interesting WINS resolution problem iwth 2.2.5 PDC
I'm running a Samba PDC at home (v2.2.5, recently upgraded from v2.2.3 in an attempt to solve this problem) on RedHat 7.3. I have domain logon, printing and all that good stuff working just fine to a couple of XP and 2000 clients. But, I want to mount a couple shares from the domain clients to the server, and that works just fine except for one client. fujisawa(6) ~> smbmount

Commands failing silently?
Hello all: I have a couple CentOS 4 servers (all up-to-date) that are having strange command failures. I first noticed this with a perl script that uses lots of system calls. Basically, sometimes a command just won't run: thoth(52) /tmp> ls thoth(53) /tmp> ls thoth(54) /tmp> ls thoth(55) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(56) /tmp> ls learner lost+found/ thoth(57)

Dovecot crash
Thanks. Assuming that the IMAP mail directory for the account affected is under /home/xyz/mail, are you talking about the contents of the index directory, excluding the log file therein? Dovecot crash
This happening when my Thunderbird client is trying to establish a connection with a Dovecot server. Some background first: 1) I am running Thunderbird 6.20.1 from a Linux client. 2) Other clients (e.g. Maildroid in my Android phone) do not have any issues. 3) The Dovecot software is version 2.2.9, running in a Linux server. 4) This may be the root of the problem: at some point, the

Dear, Huawei softx3000 sends the dtmf with undefined content-type(sscc) and format, so the asterisk can not recognize the digits, maybe changing the source code of asterisk be a good solution, but I am looking for a better way. would you please let me know if you have a better solution. Successfully building 2.3.1 with Sun One Studio 8 on Solaris 9 (SPARC)
I had a hard time building 1.9.1 with the Sun One Studio on Solaris (SPARC) almost 2 years ago. I filed a bug report, but I can't seem to find it right now. For 2.3.1, I discovered that the same problems remain. Here are the tricks that resolved them for me if anyone is interested. #1. /usr/lib/cpp will give you nothing, but headaches. Fortunately, the Solaris Software Companion CD (SSCC)

Relocate subfolders to different mount point
I would like to relocate the subfolders of the Sent folder to a different location. Now send messages mail is stored in mbox format at the location /home/users/testuser/mail/.Sent. I would like to store the subfolders Sent/2017 and Sent/2018 at the location /home/archive/users/testuser/.Sent.2017 and /home/archive/users/testuser/.Sent.2018 Is this even possible? Best way to upgrade from 1.0a4 to 1.0a5
Hello all, I have 1.0 Alpha 4. Is it better to shut down sendmail, uninstall dovecot 1.0a4 then install 1.0a5, or just install 1.0a5 over the top of 1.0a4? Thanks, Cliff

Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
I have this default configuration [0], when use the userdb_mail to point to the mdbox location, the inbox subfolders show differently in a firebird client. So I decided to copy the whole default mail_location into the userdb_mail configuration [2]. But then I get errors [3]. Should I change the namespace configuration here, how? My default namespaces are inbox and 4archives [0] [@ ]#

SAMBA PROBLEM ON LINUX
Guys, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but I am using Redhat 6.2 Linux and Samba 2.2.1a. We have Windows NT Workstations and 2000 servers with which we need to talk to. (Note: Can't upgrade to Redhat 7.2 or Samba 2.2.2 due to company requirements at least for a few more months.) I have a problem with a user who is trying to write to a folder called
