ov_clear(&vorbis) segfaults? (Backtrace and test case)
Well, I've done more work on this today and done the following:
-I simplified the test program to just under 125 lines of code.
-I discovered that the code works fine on my friend's Darwin machine.
-I discovered that the code works fine in my friend's i386 linux machine.
-I discovered that the code fails in ALL of my i386 redhat 9 machines.
(Even the ones where I've rebuilt

segfault in RC15
Hi all, ive seen a few segfaults in RC15. It's hard for me to reproduce
but I was able to get a core when it happened with one of our customers.
RC15
FreeBSD 4.10
X86
NFS/NetApp
It's squirrelmail/webmail client.
Can't reproduce it, cant turn on dovecot.rawlog because I dont know in
advance which customer will hit this. See it about 5 times per hour,
with thousands of logins per hour.

Assert in Fedora dovecot-0.99.10.4-1
Hello,
I'm seeing this in my dovecot log file:
imap(blair): Dec 16 13:53:06 Panic: file istream.c: line 93
(i_stream_set_read_limit): assertion failed:
(stream->v_size == 0 || v_offset <= stream->v_size)
I get this consistently when I search for the string
"unknown C primitive"
across 10 mailboxes using the Windows Netscape 4.80 client.
If there's any more

My .02 worth
First allow me to apologize for breaking the thread(s). As a brand
new list member, I wasn''t able to easily retrieve from the archives.
I believe initiative is a great attribute for every team member, but as
Alex points out, I too believe there must be a "buck stops here" authority
to ensure that everyone''s initiative is at least heading in the

blog post worth reading (and commenting on)
Over at the APress group Blog, Christian Gross has picked up the Slashdot
article on the maintainability of RoR. He''s pretty neutral, but doesn''t seem to
have the full picture in front of him either.
Have a read at:

Then, if you feel so moved, leave a comment.

Is Rails on GoDaddy worth the hassle?
I have been trying to evaluate GoDaddy hosting for RoR. Quite
frustrating and painful to date.
I have setup a database and uploaded a test app (depot from AEDWR2).
Best results to date - ''Internal Server Error''. The log reports
''mod_rewrite: maximum number of internal redirects reached''.
''RewriteOptions MaxRedirects=20'' doesn''t help.

Config-file-switching code in syslinux-3.40-pre7 worth testing out
Hi all,
Being able to switch between config files has been a long-requested
feature. Well, in syslinux-3.40-pre7 I think it's finally implemented
in a way which can be classified as "working".
If you have a need for this feature I would like your opinions,
including whether or not the implementation as it stands fits your liking.

Live CD - do you think they are worth doing?
Hi,
Curious, do many of you check out software or projects when they have
a live CD or does that make any difference to you? Does anyone know if
the general public (not reading this kind of list) is attracted to a
Live CD more than an Install one?
thx,

It was worth the wait!
WOW!!!
I'm actually stunned. I was expecting some changes, but this is wonderful and EVERYTHING worked correctly right out of the box.
Having a few small issues with my touchpad on this Dell Inspiron - can't get it to scroll - but everything else is exquisite! Thank you SO much for all your hard work CentOS team.

for what it's worth, I think I have inadvertently solved an old problem...
All,
For the longest time I was having this strange folder recursion problem. It persisted through many samba upgrades. The problem can be seen here in this thread:

Samba.. not worth a f*** for printing
Gotta love these people that appreciate all the effort the developers
put in when clearly they are click and grunt experts who can't be
bothered reading a manual.
We got samba going and migrated a test bunch towards it printing on
about 60 printers. HP drivers work a treat when it came to setting our
A4 size paper but some printer drivers like Panasonic and Epson have
crappy setup.exe

Cluster GUI package worth publishing/enhancing?
For a school course I and a partner developed a GUI in R designed to
enable exploration of data via visualization of hierarchical
clustering and correlation of cluster partitions with external
metadata. The key features were the ability to load in a distance
matrix (most GUI-based clustering programs require feature vector
input), and the ability to dynamically subset the data via the GUI

Problem with a setter that converts euros to cents
Hi,
I have some problems with an application where I''m using custom
accessors to do currency conversions. In my model, I have a price
attribute in the database that stores the value in cents, to avoid
future problems with float arithmetic and round. But at the views, I
would like to show the price in euros, with decimal for the cents. So
I defined a new attribute called price_in_euros,

Problems with XP32-"3GB-patch"?/ Worth upgrading to Vista X64?
Dear R-Users,
as I will start a huge simulation in a few weeks, I am about to buy a new
and fast PC. I have noticed, that the RAM has been the limiting factor in
many of my calculations up to now (I had 2 GB in my "old" system, but
Windows still used quite a lot of virtual memory), hence my new computer
will have 4 GB of fast DDR2-800 RAM.
However, I know that 1.) Windows 32 bit cannot

G.729? Worth it? -- YES --
im using g729, but the bw usage is ~26 kbps per call, my gateways (cisco)
support g723 and the bw between the gateways is ~18 kbps per call. Much
better than the ~62 kbps of the g711. if you plan to be a voip provider you
"must" go with compression codecs, especially if you want your customers to
browse the internet while having a call.
i.e. : We give voip phones (grandstream) to our
