Could not connect to host box.domain.tld
I have used fetchmail/procmail/postfix/dovecot/kmail for some time on my mail
server, and have set this up on three or four machines in the past. I'm now
setting up a new server and having problems. I've reached the
thinking-in-circles stage, so need a prompt.
The box in question is called borg2.lydgate.lan, and resides at 192.168.0.40.
I can ping both borg2.lydgate.lan and

Message size rejected
My daughter needs to send me a large file. It appears that it is getting
through my ISP, but being rejected on my CentOS mail server. The message
she's getting says

The case of the missing mail
I became suspicious that I should have received a certain message, and reading
pm.log I discovered that it had indeed arrived and had been allocated to
/var/mail/anne, despite procmailrc telling it that
MAILDIR=/home/anne/Maildir/
Any idea what might have caused this? It seems to have been working like this
only in the last 24 hours or so.

Browsing between linux boxes
My problem appears to be too simple to be addressed in the documentation,
being a linux-to-linux problem. This is a mixed home lan, but the majority
of file sharing is done between three linux boxes. All three have a public
directory, but the one on box1 is mainly used for file sharing. All of this
worked well with our old Samba 2 setup, but has now gone to pieces. Two of
the boxes are

Second user problems
I have dovecot (0.99.14 under FC4) set up and working beautifully for my mail,
handing on to procmail, and handling many subfolders. Today I needed to set
up a second user. I added his account in kmail and created a sub-folder, but
no sent-mail, trash etc. were created. I have sent test messages
and /var/log/maillog says they have been processed, but they are not arriving
in his inbox.

mail without mta
Dear list!
I'd like to know if some-
one has experience with system
running no mta (aka sendmail).
I have single comp, not server,
not lan. Yes! Sendmail is nice,
but it is too big for simple
tasks I have for it.
My intention is to use apps
small as possible. This letter
gone from mutt directly to
ssmtp, that processed it to my
isp. (Setting option for

Lost mail
I did an update yesterday evening, and didn't spot that it had changed
permissions on my .procmailrc. Consequently no mail came in after that.
I've been out most of today, so just got it fixed, but what will have
happened to the mail for the missing period? Maillog just shows that
messages have been passed to procmail. Procmail won't run if the perms are
wrong, so where do the

mail delivery question
I've built a new mail system with Centos 6.5, and I'm running fetchmail -
sendmail - procmail to maildir. I have all of this working at the moment.(I
know, postfix was the default, but for lots of other reasons, I switched, and
that isn't an issue, I don't think).
I am using dovecot as an imap server. Procmail won't update indexes during email
delivery, so I'm having some

procmail/formail --> Maildir
Hello List,
i switched mailformat from mbox to maildir. Now i have a little problem with procmail/formail and headermanipulation of mails.
Here an example:
0
* ^From.*gmx.de
| (formail -t -I"procmail: gmx.de") >> /var/spool/mail/xxxxxx
So, i can add some different headerlines for later evaluation and the result is attached to inbox.
Now i have the problem that i don't know

Installing Postfix/Dovecot
I have just installed CentOS 5.1 on my home server and I am trying to
set a mail server.
I have diligently followed the instructions on the Wiki - How To on the
CentOS website (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix). However I cannot
send internal email (I haven't yet tried externally).
Do you have any suggestions on what to check? To test it I used two

Help sought for email problem
My home server is running CentOS-7.1
I'm running postfix and dovecot on it.
I collect email from a few sources with fetchmail
and move it to ~/Maildir/cur/ with procmail.
Or at least, I did do this.
For some reason procmail has stopped doing its job,
and the email that I collect is finishing in /var/spool/mail/tim/
I can't work out what has caused this,
or what the cure is.
I haven't

Need advice please
Hi All,
I have a system running (home based) Centos latest fully patched, etc that is
acting as quasi mail server dhcp and name server. My question deals with
mail. This is how it is currently set up.
Because I travel for work weeks on end, I have fetchmail on my mail server,
set up to poll my isp and download all my mail from work and personal isp.
In this way my mail queues at work and

Centos 6.6 procmail trouble
I have a 6.5 machine that had everything set up and working correctly (fetchmail, sendmail w/ starttls, procmail, spamassassin) but the MB cratered.
I bought a new machine, and installed Centos 6.6 and all is not well.
I used the config from the previous incarnation (via backups) for fetchmail (works fine), sendmail (works fine for sending via relay and tls), but procmail now refuses to pick up

put procmail between postfix and dovecot
Hello,
a couple of months ago, also thanks to help from this list, I set up
postfix and dovecot for virtual domains on a Centos 4 remote server.
I have postfix set up to deliver all email for marco at domain1.net to
/var/mail/vhosts/marco_domain1.net/
Everything is fine, as far as postfix is concerned: all email to
marco at domain1.net goes in that mailbox, dovecot sees it, etc...
Now I need

Converting from MBOX to Maildir broke procmail and Spamassasin and halted incoming mail
I could use some help here -
As I use Dovecot I started here when trying to figure out why I could
not add new mail folders under my Mac's Mail program, but could under
Thunderbird.
It was quickly pointed out that my system was set up to use MBOX and
not MAILDIR, and some helpful links and notes were sent back and forth
giving me a good clue as to how to perform the conversion

per user procmail filtering and dovecot-lda
Hi all,
I recently migrated my system (postfix/Dovecot)from mbox to Maildir.
Almost everything is working (phone and thunderbird show all my mail and
folders with mail)
However I am stuck on my .procmailrc rules
# cat /etc/procmailrc
SENDMAIL=/usr/sbin/sendmail
SENDMAILFLAGS=-oi
LOGFILE=/var/log/procmail.log
ORGMAIL=${HOME}/Maildir/
DEFAULT=${ORGMAIL}

Procmail + Dovecot
I have been trying to set up procmail but I am running into some issues
with using deliver. I am running Debian Etch with Dovecot 1.1.8 compiled
from the Debian Experimental source package.
##### Start .procmailrc #####
# System-wide settings for procmail
SHELL="/bin/bash"
SENDMAIL="/usr/sbin/sendmail -oi -t"
LOGFILE="/var/log/procmail.log"
